So today I moved myself into my fairly large room. For those of you at UCSC, it's about as big as a double in the dorms. I really like it though because it's the corner room and it has 2 windows with lots of greenery around. The window latches are pretty strange but they work well especially since I can't figure out how to turn both radiators off. I had to stand in a fairly long line to try and sort out my housing in the morning so that I could collect my keys....until Mom came to the rescue and called fixing the mixup. So I got pulled out of line and given my keys!!! Yes! The rest of the day was pretty much spent unpacking. Then I went to the pub for a meet and ... read more

18 days. What went through my mind when i booked my ticket for marseille? u tell me. i've never been so bored, people are still the same, lazy, rude, always complaining, loud mouth, please someone put me onto the next airplane. so what happened since the 11th? i've seen tons of doctors, i've been brave and had my wisdom tooth taken out, been eating a lot and sick a lot; my body must have got used to bad food in England but it was so worth it, don't forget that i'm gonna starve for 2 months in Asia. I've seen all my friends, my parents, been told by my ex-boyfriend, in short, to piss off, life couldn't be better. the good thing was maybe i got the chance to see 50cent perform yesterday night and it ... read more

I arrived at London Heathrow at 8AM on Wednesday, Sept. 21. I was very tired as I can never sleep on long flights, but I managed to get my huge suitcases checked into the baggage service there so I could head into the city. I stayed at a hostel around King's Cross station. I went there first to drop my backpack off, then I headed to Southwark to check out the Tate Modern Museum. The architecture in this building was really amazing...I loved the museum; especially the Gerard Richter and Andy Warhol collections. After I finished at the Tate, I wandered outside to the River Thames and watched boats and people. There is a lovely little lawn in front of the museum that looks out at this river. I sat down to read, and after a ... read more

Damn. Its been a busy few weeks and this blog is in serious disrepair! Well i left off last time as i was departing for a week-long event called Footbag Camp, at a resort some 20 hours by bus from Prague at a place called Baska Voda, Croatia. Its located on the Croatian coast, with a backdrop of stoney grey mountains, crytal clear water and seemingly permanent cloudless blue skies. The camp was organised by the Czech footbag crew and welcomed people from Czech Rep., Australia, Germany, Austria, France, Russia etc. We camped in comfortable 4 man tents, the most important feature of which was the fridge to keep our beer cold :0) The week was spent largely on footbag training on various concepts every day, led by the 4 time World Champion from the Czech ... read more

Today was Clay, Suzanne, Mar, Amy, and Patrice's last day with the tour as they chose not to continue to Athens. Suzanne and Clay had a few extra days here in Rome to themselves but everyone else would be flying home tomorrow morning. Today was a full on day of sightseeing. It was yet another early wake up as we were to be met at the Vatican for our tour of the Vatican Museum. We caught the public bus to the stop for Vatican City and rushed to get in line. It was still quite early but the line was already really long. Our guide was an older woman who kept saying "Mama Mia" with every sentence. At first it was kind of humorous but eventually got quite irritating. Once inside, we had to go ... read more

After 2 flights of boredom, we arrived at Heathrow Airport at 5.50am on Sept 21st. In Kuala Lumpur Amanda got searched whilst checking in for our flight to Heathrow, though obviously had nothing on her. Takeoff, landing and turbulence are fun, whilst cruising is quite boring. England is very different from Melbourne in some ways, though very similar in others. Major differences are the speed limits (much faster here), the width of the streets and the supermarkets (they sell everything!) We went for a walk down the street to the shopping area yesterday and found that despite popular opinion they do sell Milo, Cadbury, and Vegemite in the shops. On the way back we saw a car accident but luckily no one was hurt. We’ve met most of the family now (I think) and they are ... read more
