Last night i met up with Chris and Linor at their hostel, which turned out to be on the same street. For reference, HQ Cafe where they are staying looks pretty nice and costs $5 per night. We walked towards the beach ànd the night market, ìf you can call it that, it was one street with souvenirs and a few places to eat. We sat and had some food, Vietnamese pancake, fried frogs and vermichelli. Along with a cofee and ice cream drink and a strawberry and yoghurt smoothie. It was really good. I love local food. Bést òf all it cóst about 2 GBP each. Linor hás started a diving course but we persuaded her to come out for a few drinks and so after getting given a flyer at the beach we went ... read more

I woke up at around 8 and had breakfast; cereal, bannana and yoghurt - free from the hostel and then got talking to Li, the owner of the hostel who is 27 and looking to buy another place to turn into a second hostel. It was interesting talking to hẻr about hẻr culture and that òf the Vietnamese. They live very diferent lives to that òf us back home. They are expected to look after their parents and so could never travel ỏr move away. They also live with their parents until they are maried, which is usually relatively young. Li took me to the hostel she í thinking of buying - we took her motorbike, which is such a common thing hểre and then she dropped me of at the beach where I spent most ... read more

The sleeper bus was an experience. Nothing like the sleeper buses in Laos. There are 3 rows, 2 high sets of beds, that don't fully recline and your feet & carry on luggage goes into a plastic alcove. If you're much taller than 5'2 you'll really struggle as the beds are really short. The aircon leaked the whole journey so we kept getting dropped on. Chris dozed off almost as soon as we left hoi an (6pm) but I didn't get to sleep properly until after the2nd stop (11pm) the toilet there was.....dirty, a squat toilet full of cobwebs and massive spiders and it stank!! I really had to pee though so I held my breath and was as quick as possible! We arrived in nha trang at about 06.30 this morning with a flat tyre, ... read more

Hi all So we had another of our over night sleeper bus rides to nha trang. We arrived at 8am and got checked into our lovely hotel perfume grass along with Helen and Dan. We immediately hit the hay for a couple of hours as we didn't get much sleep thanks to Vietnam's beautiful roads. When we woke we decided to hit the beach for the day as the weather was good. We were only on the beach for a couple of hours when the thunder started, we retreated to the very swanky sailing club where we had a few to many drinks as the thunder passed. The following morning we decided to go to the very popular mud baths. We both had a great laugh and a very relaxing day. We sat in our shared ... read more

Hola!

So last night we decided to go to the sailing club for a fish platter - which I was really looking forward to but to be honest it had a few prawns, a little octopus and a large fish - not quite what I was expecting i.e. missing lobster!! Now I think about it do you get lobsters in Vietnamese waters? Well woke up today to Vietnam's Independence day. I was expecting there to be parades and all sorts but all there seems to be is lots of Vietnamese Flags so a little disappointing. It is our last day in Nha Trang as we are off to Hoi An on the night train tonight. Not been on a Vietnamese train yet so this should be good - is it going to be like the one we ... read more

Well today we have moved from Jungle Beach back into reality. As you will all know if you have been reading my blog I booked the wrong hotel yesterday (if you have not been reading my blog, why the hell not and take detention and catch up!!). Anyway after an early morning swim with no one in the sea or even on the beach for miles we left our little haven back to Nha Trang as it would have been great to just stay where we were for another 3 weeks whilst in Vietnam but we have to take a reality check and move on there are so many places we need to see and we have learnt that we cannot do or see everything as it is impossible and to be honest not practical unless ... read more

Well after waiting for an hour later than expected the bus sleeper bus arrives. Mike the girls and lads did not expect it to have 3 sets of sleeper beds each row - look of surprise on each of their faces was priceless. After a few stops we get on our way and a good night sleep was had by me. Tom and Will seemed to have a bit of a problem so I do not think they will be booking on the booze cruise on the first day. The girls and Mike seemed to have a good night sleep once they got actually got to sleep. No way was Mike and I going on the booze cruise and we had the best night sleep. Anyway booked into the hotel and what a hotel it is ... read more
