Normal 0 LUSCIOUS WHITE SAND! ALLURING TURQUOISE WAVES! There’s just something about the combination of these that makes me go weak in the knees. The word beautiful is not adequate to describe this devastatingly handsome landscape of Nha Trang. A sleek, modern city scape runs parallel to the white sands that slope gently into the clear, aqua waters. Dark forest green mountains jut up over the horizon. Nha Trang transformed us from thrifty backpackers to indulgent revelers without even asking for our consent. We ate delicious food, partied like rockstars, swam in the sparkling waters, and... read more

28th February ’12 Hoi An back to Danang station and on to Nha Trang Well I don’t know what’s worse, a night train or 10 hours on a day train sitting in a seat with its springs coming through! I don’t want to say anything else about it!! We arrived about 8.30pm so by the time we had checked into the hotel all we had time for was to get some grub and ended up with ‘genuine greek’ kebabs which made a tasty change! As we were sitting at a little table on the roadside we were the perfect targets for every seller in the area but after saying no about 5 times they generally accepted you meant no! All apart from one lady, who was so desperate as she had done no business that night, ... read more

Hello Everyone, This blog may be a bit more reflective than informative so I’ll get the info out first and if you want to stop reading you certainly can. After Hue we moved onto Hoi An. It was a really lovely town, very clean with lots of restaurants and shops. The whole river area was lit up by coloured paper lanterns at night – very beautiful. The main attraction in Hoi An are the tailors. Tailor shops line every street and can make you custom clothes in 1 day. Matt and I got sucked in of course. I got 2 dresses, a pair of linen shorts, and a fall coat made. Matt got 2 button up shirts and a long winter coat. We were both very pleasantly surprised with our purchases! From Hoi An we moved ... read more

WE ARE SILLY! At the moment we arrived in Mui Ne we regretted that we are travelling in Vietnam during TET. Oh sorry, actually we already regretted it once we asked for the price of the bus tickets from Saigon to Mui Ne. We completely underestimated that as prices in Saigon were normal but everywhere else they doubled or tripled or .......... After 3 hours looking for a room we found a room for 20$. It wasn't great but did its job. Ryan was so fed up that we decided to leave the next day. Luckily, we got a seat on the afternoon bus as the morning bus was full. In the evening we went for some food in the place where I ate last time and which had been really great - not this time ... read more

Nha Trang is well known for its pristine beaches, many beautiful islands and coral reefs providing an opportunity to go diving and swimming. Nha Trang is also a magnet for young backpackers who partake in one of the many booze party cruisers that weaves between the many islands. Looking out from the main beach you can see Seafood farms in the middle of the bay and mini fishing villages. Fisherman row the round shaped boats called "Conical" out to their seafood section to tend the catch. Nha Trang is known for it's excellent seafood variety. Once again we hire 3 scooters to investigate some of the main tourist attractions that can be seen around Nha Trang; The Pe Nagar Towers standing tall with it's square red baked bricks and pyramid topped apex, are situated on the ... read more

Well where are we up to? We left HCMC on Saturday morning after a great night sat drinking with a group of local lads, drinking 30p Saigons and comparing slang words. We soon realised that we all enjoyed the DJ Station nightclub in Bangkok! Dalat is a very pretty place, like an Alpine village around a lake. The outdoor night market is fantastic with over 100 stalls selling great food including roasted chicken feet and great cakes. What always hits me about the stall traders is how I judge them to have so little, let actually they also have so much- friendliness, passion and a real zest for their life. On the Sunday we joined a day tour and had a great day in part due to meeting some great fellow travellers, Louis from Paris (who ... read more

After our dreary weather in Hanoi, our visit to Hoi An was welcome relief ushering in blue skies and gorgeous beaches. Hoi An is another UNESCO World Heritage City that sits at the foothills of the Vietnamese mountains about 4 kilometers from the Sea of China. Our original reason for visiting, the full moon festival, was only a small portion of the charm that Hoi An has to offer. To get to Hoi An we flew from Hanoi to Da Nang for a very reasonable price. We had set up an airport pick-up which worked perfectly again and we were on our way to Hoi An, a 30 minute drive or so. Almost instantly we were greeted by some immense development as we drove along the sea shore. It is clear that Da Nang is going ... read more

We arrived in Nha Trang on Sunday night the 29th and got a lift to our hotel for free. When we arrived to check in they didnt have record of our booking and told us the hotel was full. However they had a spare room at the top of the building if we wanted to use that for the night. With it being late and being on the bus for 10 hours we accepted it and took the lift to our room. It was basically a room on the roof with 3 beds in. The roof offered good views of the City but after a few minutes we just wanted to sleep the days travelling off. We woke quite early and planned to just travel around town until we could get in our booked room at ... read more

Tết 2012 (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) - the Year of the Dragon - I decided that it was time to go back to Nha Trang. It has been 12 years since my first trip to Nha Trang, so things have changed. Another reason for going back was that I wanted to see the sun and beaches. On my first trip to Nha Trang, I visited the major sites in the city and three islands, then traveled by bus to Đà Lạt highlands. This time I would like to see the Tết atmosphere in Nha Trang. Then I would go up north along the coastline to Tuy Hoà city as I would fly back home from there. This is my second visit to both Nha Trang and Tuy Hoà cities. Nha Trang is one of the most ... read more
