Today we woke up in the novotel and went down to floor 1 for a big buffe't breakfast. I had: miso soup and rice, an omelete, sushi, noodles, fried rice, baked tomato, fruit, juice, and a yoghurt smoothie. Yum yum. We then went on a nice long walk. We had a look around town for a laundry, found a bank, found a department store, and found many restraunts. After looking around, we went to have lunch at a nice restaurant. We had barbeque pork on rice with a delicious sauce. Then we went home via the beach. It was really relaxing and I saw a massive crab. Later we went to dinner. We went to a place that was almost exactly like the place we went last time only this time, we got a kilo of prawns ... read more

Today we woke up to another all you can eat buffe't which consisted of: fried rice, egg, banana pancakes, mango pancakes, a variety of delicious fruits, and lots of juice. Afterwards we went for a nice walk to the markets to have a look around. Nothing to report. We kept walking to see if there was anything to look at. Still, nothing to report, but the rain kept coming. That's when we decided to go back to our hotel. That's after of course, we got 500 grams of lollies and peanut brittle. We went back to the hotel and got everything ready for our trip to the airport. After all, today was the day that we went to our next stop. Nha Trang. In Nha Trang it is very touristy and is home to the worlds ... read more

Yesterday we went on a small plane to Nha Trang. We went to our hotel and went to our new room, we can see Vinpearl park from there. Then we went to a big outdoor restaurant that was full of live fish. We chose a big squide that was cooked on a BBQ we ate it all up. I'm looking forward to the water park. Thanks everyone for your comments I love reading them.... read more

Well even though I was sad to say goodbye to Hoi An as its so beautiful there and I love it, it was time for me to have some beach time!!! As we did not make it to Phu Quoc which I am very sad about, Nha Trang is second best and it was easy to get to. It was only going to be a short hop on the plane – a one hour flight – well that was the plan. We tried to book online and only the pricey seats were left and thought it a good idea to book our flights from Nha Trang to Saigon at the same time but the amount that came through was very confusing (millions of Dong can do that to you) and we thought it would be better ... read more

We are currently sitting at our rooftop bar of our hotel in Nha Trang where the outlook is of countless hotels with a mix of pain in the arse type rain. Rach and I left you at our last day and since then we have been on many 'interesting' adventures. On Saturday we were picked up from our gorgeous little hotel and began our LONG drive to the Mekong Delta. The drive was nice but our company(tourists) was not. On the way we drove through various little towns and rice paddy fields. We arrived at Cai Be and hopped onto a motorised boat where we were taken up the river to look at the floating markets to see how the local people exchange various items such as fruit and vegetables. We were then taken ashore to ... read more

After a chilled out experience in Quy Khon, where we were treated more like Irish ambassadors than tourists, Aoife and I headed for Nha Trang, a popular beach town with a population of around 300,000. Our first night in Nha Trang was a crazy one! We went to a restaurant and we decided to break the budget for a 6 course meal, a much needed change from the Asian food. We were going to just order a main course but the waitress talked up the six course meal and as we were really hungry we were easily sold. Within 5 minutes of ordering we were the only table left in the restaurant which we didn’t really think much of at the time. Turns out they were closing up and our 6 course meal which we thought ... read more

Nha trang is famous for its beach and night life, and I know why. Tis is an absolute paradise and never pictured in a million years was anywhere near Vietnam. We arrived at 5:45 and headed straight out to seek out the sights and some food! The first few hours were spent on the beach down 200 metres from our apartment which was the best beach in town. Waves were about 8 foot high, was so much fun seeing the locals get smashed in by waves. What they are doing at 5:45 doing exercise any way I am not sure, but there are HUNDREDS of them doing all sorts of fitness programmes every morning, thoughout Vietnam. I decided to grab a ped and leg it around the city. My friend took 30 seconds to go into ... read more

If it all went well, we were in for a long day indeed. We still had two dives – deep water and underwater photography – to complete to get our Advanced Diving Certificates. We then had to be on a bus to Dalat by 1400. The boat usually arrived back at the dock in Nha Trang somewhere between 1230 and 1330 and there were still another five or six kilometres to get to the bus station. It was going to be tight but the reward of effectively gaining half a day was worth the risk. Breakfast was bacon sandwiches from the hotel buffet and I used the time to answer the theory questions we needed to have completed prior to our two dives. The deep water dive had me worried – I’m far from a natural ... read more

On a quickfire trip such as this one, it’s often nice to get a sense of normality in our schedule. Whilst this was only day two of our diving, having a plan (of sorts) was quite nice. We were up at 0600 and had breakfast at the Happy Light Hotel buffet once again. I finished the parts of the PADI knowledge reviews that I was too tired to complete the night before. We walked the 500 metres or so to Sailing Club Divers and boarded the van to the wharf at 0800. Once on board we met Hannah, an english dive instructor who would be looking after us for the next couple of days, and throughout the 45 minute trip to Hon Mun we went through the written knowledge reviews and prepared for our first part ... read more
