After our little hiccup, we settled nicely in Savannakhet. Leena's guest House had a nice gathering place where backpapers exchange stories, it was a nice change for us. Only about 1/4 of the merchants are open during this holiday, wich will last until Jan 29.12. I guess Laos celebrates the Lunar year also. ( we should have done a little more homework) At least we found a local bus that will take us to the Vietnam border (lao bao) for tomorrow morning 7.00 am they tell us . we rented bicycles again and travel around Savannakeht 100 000 population, the mekong river seperates laos from thailand, and you can see thailand from this side. I searched a lot of webpages and asked other travelers (when I got the chance) about their experience, before posting this blog. Usually, I just write my own opinion, not based on other people's experiences - only on my own. But since I don't like to write only negatives about any place I visited, this time I did my little search round around google. Yesterday we went to the markets to get a big straw hat. Then we went to the mud baths, it was slippery, slimmy, gooey mud but it was fun. Then we went to the jet spray that came out of the wall. Then we went to the pool that was hot,and big. After that my skin was smooth.... read more

Today was a day to remember. We didn't do much but it was fun.Today we woke up and had our usual buffe't breakfast and went down to the beach. At the beach we went straight to the water to get purposely get pushed around by the waves. Fun fun fun! Soon enough I found a drop ledge in the sand and all of a sudden I was up to my shoulders in water. It was so cool! Later still I was swishing with the waves when I found some friends. They were from cairns. Apparently in cairns there wet season is in summer. Weird huh. Anyway, we decided to go back to the pool with our friends because they are staying in the same hotel as us. Wow, what an exciting day. We went to Vinpearl Amusement Park. Vinpearl is an island full of water rides, ground based rides, shows, and 2 stories full of arcade games bumper cars,and 4D cinemas, and the best part was, after you bought your ticket, everything but the food is free. We started off by going on a beautiful and quiet cable car across to the island, but when we got there, what we saw completely blew our minds. As soon as you get off the cable car you see just a massive place just filled with ground based amusement rides.
