Hey Im in Adelaide After a very short flight, sitting next to a sumo, scary irish chick (if she gave me any trouble - I was going to tell her to get a spoon) - Iarrived in Adelaide. On the day of my flight went to Sentosa in Singapore and did all the tourist things like the merlion adventure and images of Singapore. Then went and looked at a few temples e.t.c. which was brill. Caught up with some RSA guys I met on the plane and found out how ripped off they were by the travel companies. NEWAY I was so happy when Holly picked me up at the airport and she is doing So well. I went to work in her shop on saterday which was amazing. LEE you would go insane in her ... read more

Greetings everyone! Welcome to the website that is going to keep you all updated on what I am up to on the other side of the world. I'm going to regularly (I hope) add in journal entries of what I have been up to, including photos. Each time I add a new entry, you will all automatically receive an email giving you the link so you can check it out at your own leisure if you're interested. You can also leave comments attached to each entry, for everyone to peruse. This will save me writing the same thing a million times in emails, and give me more time to write personal emails to you. If you don't want to get these, please say so, and I can remove you from the list. You know I won't ... read more

Planning It is warm this Sunday - but in the north there is heavy rain and thunderstorms, and its heading our way! We need to head South, but not too far away and move quickly - if we can get the walk in before lunch we may stay dry. The choice was Shepherd's Hill Recreation Park - a 2.5 hour walk in George Driscoll's 50 Real bushwalks around Adelaide, and only 22 kms away from home. It is also a new one for us - which enhances the walking experience. How to get there This was too easy - from the city you would head out along Anzac highway and turn left onto South Road. Continue along South Road until you see the Mitsubishi factory on the right. You then take the next left on Ayliffe ... read more

excitement is oozing, so is fear Wow. 18 months ago... so much has happened since. I would never have imagined to have experienced what i have recently. then opportunity came and something in me gave way to the possibilities. A few months later (a year ago now) i was working my butt off fundraising for my MS, to get that same butt off to sri lanka for a cycle challenge - 400km around the beautiful land. What an achievement i felt, given the precedent of my health and fears around... Now, since LM Education, the curtains on life have been drawn back! I am taking the opportunities that present and creating possibilities of magnificence for myself, my loved ones, those I'm yet to meet, for all! So here & now, I'm packing, full of excitement, anxiety, ... read more

At Dan's request, we explored the Silver mine in the Scott Creek Conservation Park today. This is a great walk/adventure for people with young children (say about 5-10 years old). Remember to bring a torch for the tunnel walk!!! How to get there.. From the city we took Unley Road, Belair Road, past Windy Point, Main Road, through to Coramandel Valley, then Cherry Gardens Road and Dorset Vale Road, which traverses the Park. In the bottom of a gully is where the car park is. The mine is called the Almanda mine, which after failed copper and ore mining in 1850, a successful silver strike was made in 1868, causing a flurry of activity for a couple of years, resulting in 310kg of silver. There are 2 parts to this section of the Conservation park. The ... read more

G’Day! Sorry it’s taken so long to write but you could say I’ve been a little busy! Now have a job - got the first job I applied for! Didn’t realise it would be so quick - had been expecting (& looking forward) to a much longer break! Oh well, at least it keeps me out of the shops! Have been working for the last 4 weeks - everyone there is friendly & helpful. They take the mickey out of my accent & find it amusing when I talk of pounds & pence! Mark is still a man of leisure (no change there then!), reckons he’s looking really hard…at the beach, hotels (pubs) etc.! I have also got some wheels - a silver Hyundai Excel that gets me around! So the exploring is continuing, have done ... read more

Just a quick entry to get going.... Well it seems like an awfully big adventure to me! I'm in Adelaide, cooling off after 3 days in Singapore. And trying to get over jet lag before I run around Kangaroo Island for two weeks helping in the study of echidnas and goannas there. I guess the scientists won't be too happy if I don't wake up until mid morning! Tomorrow I am off wine tasting in the Barossa Valley - trying one of the organised tours for the first time. Although people I met in Singapore were quite negative about Adelaide, I've enjoyed it here - it's been good as the city is quite small so I've walked everywhere. Today I've done some of the museums / cultural centres - the Aborigine one, Immigration museum and the ... read more

On Saturday we left our campsite for the drive into Adelaide. We stopped on the way to climb to see some Aborginal rock art at the Yourambulla caves and passed through the towns of Quorn, Laura (for lunch and Aussie football throwing) and Clare. In the Clare Valley wine region we stopped at Taylor's Winery for a competition to see who could get the most value out of their 3 dollar wine-tasting charge. That evening in Adelaide we met up in the Raglan pub for a group farewell. We spent three days in the fair city of Adelaide where the outback temperatures we had gotten used to completely dropped away and we resorted to digging out hats and gloves. We saw some of the sights in the city - the Oval, St. Peter's Cathedral, Light vision ... read more

If you are looking at the route map you will have to zoom out twice (press the minus button on the left hand side of the map twice) to see the whole route. Planning Considering today's weather we are planning to head for a Park near Cherry Gardens called Scott Creek Conservation Park which might offer us a little protection from the elements. The last time we did this walk I remember losing the trail and it being reasonably hot and tiring, but today we are heading for a very pleasant 15 degrees with scattered showers. Information about Scott Creek Conservation Park The Friends of Scott creek have a detailed web site available which I might use to identify plants and critters we see. What happened The park is near Warrawong Earth Sanctuary (which is apparently ... read more
