Well we know where we're goin', but we don't know where we've been, and we know what we're knowin', but we can't say what we've seen. And we're not little children, and we know what we want, and the future is certain, give us time to work it out...... We're on the road to nowhere, come on inside, etc, etc. That's not strictly true, well maybe it was for the Talking Heads but we did really know that we were going to Adelaide and we were positive we've just left Perth. So on to South Australia, we've spent the last 4 months in Western Australia and we've now got a month left to get back to Sydney via Adelaide, The Great Ocean Road, Melbourne and Canberra. Adelaide is a beutiful city, much more so than Perth, ... read more

This walk is near Tanunda. We have done it at least 3 times now and enjoy it very much. Our favourite approach is to drive up Rifle Range road (which is absolutely magnificent) and enter the park on the nothern corner. We then start the walk on the Heysen trail which goes through private property for a little way before entering the park. At the junction, continue down the Heysen trail until you get to the lookout turn-off. We take this 20 minute detour to the lookout and usually have lunch there. We then continue along the Heysen trail along the pine forest and reenter the park at the end of the forest. There is a loop track (stringbark and wallowa) that go through the park. Take it and traverse many creeks, Wallowa bushland and grassland. ... read more

Friends joined us for a walk along our local beach at Semaphore on Saturday. Semaphore is a lovely beach (yes I am biased). The water is reasonably shallow and the waves are small. This was a sunny winters day - about 17 or 18 degrees Celcius. Points of interest - the shells, the relatively empty beach, the white sand, the jetty, the Timeball tower, the Angel war memorial, The Palais, the playground, the Icecream shop in the old picture theatre, the new bike track, and the minature steam train that goes up and down the beach front (school holidays). A firm favourite :-) A web site that tells you more about Semaphore... read more

Melbourne turned out to be our break from travelling - we rented a studio apartment and spent a lot of time watching dodgy Australian TV and generally chilling out. We didn't manage to anything very touristy there - we went to the Immigration Museum which was over-run with small children so we didn't stay long, and to the Aussie Rules footie museum, which turned out to be mostly for local fanatics of the game and didn't have anything about the history of the game or how it's played... we didn't stay long there either... One good thing we did in Melbourne was meet up with Graeme's friend Mark, a kiwi who played rugby at Irvine a few years back. It was great to see him and his girlfriend Chris and we spent a couple of evenings ... read more

Today we went to Port Adelaide for our walk. Our route Peter had to go to work so it was just Dan and I heading out from home. As we crossed the Jervois bridge we were able to see the remnants of an old jetty that had been reduced to poles standing in the water. At the end of the Jervois bridge we saw a man in a diving suit preparing to dive near the Port Adelaide docks. This photo shows him with the Jervois bridge in the background, and another shows him entering the water near the old Troubridge loading dock. Port Adelaide is due for major redevelopment soon and a new Information Centre was built over the water near the old flour mill. Its mostly steel and glass. We went down one of the ... read more

T-Minus 60-ish Hours Time is running out and I am getting fucking antsy!!! So much to do, so little time....even less when you factor in i'll be boozing the better part of the next 3 days....out tonight with the lads @ PJ's (always a good time, despite what certain naysayers might tell you!), tomorrow watching the valiant Pies probably lose to the Power at the pub with Liam, and Saturday night at the Wellington with a bunch of work/other people to celebrate Gary's resignation this week and my pissing off for 2 months! 4 Days and counting - Extremely Toey Hey all....For those that don't know, I'm off round the world! Chris, Brad and I are super-excited, as you'd probably expect. We leave Sunday and this is essentially a test drive of this journal site. This promises to be a lot easier, a lot more interactive and a lot cooler than emails. I'm finalising plans for the trip, making sure I get to see as many people as I can before I leave....the usual. 2 more games of soccer, 2 more shifts at work...it's getting much closer. I understand my writing style isn't to all tastes, and I apologise for that, and for any inevitable lapses in grammar or spelling. Anyhoo, welcome one and all to my travel journal, be sure to check in for regular updates. Leave your ... read more

We did a 3 hour walk today starting at Waterfall Gully, past Chinaman’s hut and up to Mt Lofty Summit. There were heaps of people doing this tough walk. Saw robins and a small golden and black bird. We went out on a side path on the way down which was very quiet. Nice views of the city. When the sun came out it made the water shine brightly.
