At Fraser Island you have to pay for hot water. I went to have a shower at 8am, paid for the hot water in one cubicle to find i wasn't the only one in there, a VERY large spider decided it wanted to watch me. I didnt really enjoy that so i paid again to use another! We got moving pretty early, drove along the beach to Eli Creek. Then to Maheno the ship wreck, stopped at the Pinnacles and had lunch, just sandwiches today! After that I had a major trek walking up Indian Head, what a killer! but it was worth it once we were at the top, views were beautiful, tho we saw no sharks. I then swam in the only part of the sea we were allowed to (coz of sharks) called ... read more

Hello kiddies there was once a mousy brown, no blonde, no, platinum, no, pink, no, red, no blonde, no brunette, no mousy brown haired girl named Kate. When she was a little girl she dreamed of growing up and one day being a judge. Most of her teachers thought she was a little strange because of this and kept her on "special needs" watch. She grew up and studied law and then became a real grown up lawyer. and she got to wear suits. and this made her happy. and she had a red sports car that had no roof. and this also made her happy. And for many years she lived happily in Lawyer Land and had lots of really exciting clients who did lots of really interesting things. And she produced lots of very ... read more

Day 2~Got up at 8 and had some breaky on the balcony-was really nice as the sun was just coming out and the view out to the beach made it look beautiful. Drove up the beach and then in land where we stopped and looked at a few different trees. Then we did a short rainforest walk. Had lunch at the picnic area by Lake Birrabean then spent the afternoon on the beach there which was complete paradise-white sand, crystal clear lakes (with no scary creatures in it) and the sun was out in full! Had great fun playing waterpol and then rounders on the beach! In the evening it was back to camp for some spag bol and abit more wine!! Moving on from Magnetic Island we headed further up the coast to Cairns. We checked into a another pretty good place called 'The Bohemia Resort'. We had a week to kill in Cairns and the weather wasn't great so we rented a car for a few days. It was a really small crappy car that was a bit like a go-kart. We first went to Kuranda and the Sky rail cable car just north of Cairns. This had the oldest rainforrest in the world. It was nice to see but we've seen quite a bit of rainforest while we've been away and it was raining so you couldn't see that much. We drove around to the Atherton Table lands and visited some nice quaint towns such as Yangaburra and saw the Cathedral fig tree. We also ... read more

Up nice and early to be picked up at 8.30am. All on the bus and started to head off, but we had to turn back for a guy who hadn't appeared for whatever reason. This was Ben. So after a false start we set off again. We went over the Noosa river of a cable ferry. (My kind of boat trip, only 5 mins. max!). Now on the North shore we carried on towards Rainbow beach. We drove along 40mile beach, this was good and different to drive and see the waves next to you. At this point we had very much noticed the air con was not working properly. So when we eventually got to Rainbow beach via the Great Sandy National Park the driver took the bus off to be fixed leaving us stranded ... read more

Another early start this morning so that we could break out of the northern territory and enter Queensland, which we managed to do in just under 11 hours after having driven 900km from Mount Isa to Townsville on Queenslands east coast, where we stayed at the Adventurers Resort, a huge hostel with undercover parking, huge kitchen, friendly staff and over 300 beds available. Mike... read more

Early again for the real trip to Fraser Island. I has the same briefing, with the same guy, Monty who talked waaaaaaaay too fast. No one understood him especially at 7am. We got put into groups, 2 annoying Canadian girls, Kayla and Hayley, both very bossy, 2 annoying Dutch girls, loud and immature, and 2 blokes Jo (Irish) and Drew (Canadian). We spent most of the day getting told how to load the car, put up tents and how to drive, that sorta thing. We left the depo with our 4 wheel drive, both the lads could drive it, we went the wrong way but still managed to get to the ferry on time, and not last either! The ferry took 40mins, once we got there we let the tyres down and went the wrong way ... read more

Day 1~ Got up early (which is getting very hard) as we were being picked up at 8.30 for our Fraser Island tour! The bus was similiar to our Kakadu tour so we grabbed the back seats this time thinking we were clever as the last time the front ones got sooo hot...well turned out the back ones were the hottest as the air-con had broken-that'll teach us! Got talking to a couple on the bus-Mel & Andy, they were from Essex and really nice! Stopped at the service station on the way and Mark (the guide) took the van to get the air-con fixed as we were all giving him abit of grief about it...1 1/2 hrs later (thinking he'd forgotten about us) he returned, still with the broken van but he said we were ... read more

01.03.06 After a good nights sleep we awoke, still unsure of our next move, whether it's to go to another farm or to start our trip oop north. So to keep our options open we emailed a farm that we fancied, so this morning we went on the internet and did a bit of food shopping while waiting for a reply. The lady never got back, so we made the decision of heading north, so it was another trip to the train station to get a train a couple of hours away to a coastal town called Noosa, that we had been told was really pretty. After an 1 1/2 hour wait at the trainstation, followed by a couple of trains and a bus we finally arrived in Noosa with the intention of going to our ... read more
