We moved on up the coast after Airlie beach but only by 5 hours this time. We stopped of at Townsville for the night as we planned to go over to Magnetic Island in the morning. Townsville itself is quite a nice looking city but we didn't spend very long here. We made our way to Horseshoe bay on the island and stayed at the YHA which was excellent. Apart from having to stay in a hut type place this was one of the best places we stayed at. More so for me as there was lots of wildlife about. Just around the resort I saw loads of these cute 'dainty green tree frogs'. A large grasshopper type thing, a stick insect, possums (cheeky guys come into the bar and raid the bins) and lorikeets. Days 112 - 116 Jumped onboard the fun bus and 3 hours later got to Rainbow Beach. It's a really cute little town. We had a briefing about our Fraser Island trip tomorrow and got assigned to our group (there are 10 people per group). In the evening we ate out in a yummy little cafe and had packed our small bags for our trip tomorrow. Up bright and early for free pancakes and then we packed up the 4x4 that would be ours for the next 3 days. We headed off and caught a barge to the island, which was about a 20 minute ride away. yoooo mates, kayla here. i'm not too sure what hails wrote in the last blog but i'll fill you in on what has happened since we left surfers (finally...we were there for 2 and half weeks, but we loved it, NO regrets.) k, before we left on wednesday the 2nd of march i took my first surfing lesson!!!! hails wasn't feeling up to it that day, but i was pumped to try it out. i got up early and headed down to the beach. the surfing lessons in surfers are quite reasonable compared to sydney ($40 for 2 hours). i went to the Cheyne Horan school of surf. if you haven't heard of cheyne horan he's a world class surfer, a veteran. unfortunatly he's in hawaii right now surfing but they have awesome instructors. i can't ... read more

Michaelmas Cay - 40 km ud i havet fra Cairns. Wauv.... Baadtur og oenske om at proeve kraeftermed snorkling paa revet. Great Barrier Reef er jo verdens stoerste naturpark (undervands forstaeligt nok), saa hvorfor ikke kigge lidt naermere paa det og faa en oplevelse for livet? MEN min snorklingtur blev saadan vupti og med en meget lokkende, dejlig instruktoers (GEMMA) overtalende evner konverteret til en scuba-diving. Uha, der flyttes graenser paa denne tur. For 2 dage siden, stod mutter Silotta med en slange om halsen og smilede til verden tilligemed, og saa i dag er man blevet "medlem af dykkernes fascinationsklub".............. hvem havde troet det for 2 mdr. siden? - ikke jeg. Ja naa ligger det nye bilder her paa bloggen min, galleriet heter brisbane og Noosa. Men det er abre noen faa, men paa My Space paa MSN har jeg lagt ut kjempemange bilder. Saa for de som har MSN saa..:) Martin, du kan vise dem til mamma. Ellers saa regner det fortsatt her i Noosa, saa det er ikke saa mye aa ta seg til.
