Days 109-111 We checked out of our room and onto the Greyhound headed to Noosa. It was pouring with rain and didn't stop, even for a minute, all day! We popped into town to get some food and spent the rest of the day and night watching videos! I'm sure Noosa is a lovely place but at this rate, I don't think we'll ever find out!! Despite the rain, you can't come here and not go to Australia Zoo - Steve Irwin's zoo! We jumped on a bus to the zoo and spent the day there. It was really cool, within 10 minutes of being there we were feeding elephants who splurted mud all over us (not good when wearing white). We then watched some shows - a snake show, a tiger show, a birds of ... read more

After Fraser Island we thought it would be a good idea to save time and money by taking an overnight coach up to Airlie beach, our next stop. This was a nightmare. The coach didn't leave until midnight but we killed time at the local cinema and saw some awful film called big momas house II but we also saw 'Walk the Line' which pretty good. We didn't arrive until 3pm the next day as the coach driver went on some detour. But we made it and checked into a backpackers just outside of town as we had heard that Airlie beach is a bit of a mad party place. The walk into town was actually quite pleasant with loads of wild cockatoos around. The town itself isn't much but we stayed here to see the ... read more

This morning Skinny left early to go to the Whitsundays, not long after we had 2 arrivals in our room, Martin and Michael. We said hello then went shopping for new outfits as tonight we'd arranged to all go out. Once I had acheived that we went back to our room, it stank and we thought 'smelly boys'! To our surprise out of the bathroom walked a big fat bearded man with a small towel on! scary! The boys walked in and obviously thought the same! There was much confussion to what male was sleeping where, and nearly ended up with the fat man on the bunk above me. Michael saw the terror on my gace and offered to sleep there instead! We all went out, ended up in a club, I dont think Sophie was ... read more

Days 22 - 30 Rain, rain, and more rain. Day 22 - Kingscliffe Intermittent showers had me running between the tent and outside (where I was trying to get gear re-organized). The paddle into Kingscliffe was a bit dicey with a fairly strong south swell breaking over a reef just in front of where I was landing. Day 23 - Jumpinpin bar Fairly long mileage day (42 miles), but I had to get around the 'Gold Coast' in one pass (as well as getting inside the 'Broadwater' and paddling up to the north end of South Stradbroke Island). With the unsettled weather, the heavy swells had me worried about entering the bar at Southport - but it turned out to be fairly easy. Day 24 - Reeders Point (South end of Moreton Island) To avoid the ... read more

WOW...that's all i can really say...what a month! It's all gone so quickly! I can't actually believe that my time in Oz is coming to an end! We've managed to jam-pack so much into the past 4 weeks, it's crazy!! Unfortunately, i won't be able to tell you everything that i've been up to, but i'll try and pick some of the best bits...the rest will have to wait until i get home and can tell you all in person!! After Sydney, i had a quick stop over in Coffs Harbour for one night. It was a really nice place to stay, and would definitely be a good place to relax. It has a lovely little beach to chill on, and some beautiful botanical gardens to admire, but other than that there's not too much happening ... read more
