Hello all! PICTURES Sorry for the massive delay in posts but there really isn't much internet to speak of when you are in the outback. Well from our last post we have course come to Australia and been here for some time. We landed in Sydney to begin our journey. We walked everywhere is this massive city and saw most of it. The botanical gardens were huge, amazing, and at night the sky was filled with massive bats that made their home there. After a short walk through the gardens we were greated with an impressive view of the Sydney opera house and the harbour bridge (a symbol of the entire country). Even seeing it during an overcast day, was still impressive. But what really amazed us was seeing it at night. The lights reflecting in ... read more

Hello! After Byron Bay, we all headed up to surfers paradise but planned on only staying there for a few nights. There wasnt too much to do apart from the beach (gold coast) and the night life. It reminded us all of a european magaluf type resort as it was very built up with hotels, bars, resteraunts etc. The first night we were there we all went on a hostel bar crawl which was a good laugh. It was a great night and it even resulted in a bit of random karaoke with a busker!! The next day 4 of us decided we wanted to hire some mopeds so we could take a look at the city a little more. We ended up with a 2 litre turbo toyota celica convertible! It was alot of fun ... read more

Hi you lot! Now onto my favourite part of the trip so far - Fraser Island. (Well we stopped in Brisbane on the way here but not much to report, pretty average city.) Just me and Millsy now as the other two are heading back to Sydney. Fraser is the world's largest sand island (not that you'd know it as most of the sand is covered in dense rainforest) and you need a 4WD as there are no real roads. Luckily we have Millsy's mum's car although it's not in quite such good condition as when we set out...... We got stuck in the sand before we even got onto the island! Then we got stuck 3 more times, requiring tows. And worst of all we impaled the car on a tree when reversing to avoid ... read more

So we'd arrived In Adelaide and had found Jill & Grahame in good spirits apart from the fact that Grahame, who is a very good runner, had an injury and was in the process of having tests to see if he needed an opeartion on it. (he did and would have it in a couple of weeks time). Anyway, we went out for a bite to eat in Brighton, about ten minutes away from their house by car. Brighton's a nice place with a great beach and was quite busy. We went to Seacliffe beach the next day, which is a continuation of Brighton beach and had a lazy day. Ate in that night & tried to kep cool. It was red hot more or less all the time we were in Adelaide, of the ten ... read more

12 months ago, we visited a Travel Expo in Brisbane, and decided that our next trip would have to be a cruise! We took home dozens of brochures, poured over them till 1am. then decided on two back to back cruises. I knew a short cruise to the Pacific Islands wasnt for me, and these two cruises worked out to around 42 days. We made our booking immediately, but were then very disappointed to find that the first cruise was already booked out. I then joined a Bulletin Board on the Net called Cruise Critics, and for weeks read all about the various cruises and cruiselines. The decision was then to try and book a Seabourn cruise. With a lot of help and advice from the Members at CC, I made the booking. We now ... read more

Today we got up early to get to the harbour at 7.30 to set sail at 8.30 to the great barrier reef. It took about 2 hours to get to 'Hastings Reef'. We went snorkelling for a while then had lunch on the boat. Our first ozzie bbq with proper fish and everything! we then made our way to 'Saxon Reef', which was so much prettier. i wanted to spend longer in the sea but got back onto the boat because we wanted to go in the semi submarine. straight from that we got a little speed boat to a pooey platform ready for the helicopter ride. It was only about 10mins but had great views. as we got back in the little speed boat to get back to our boat we heard a pop, and ... read more
