On the agenda for today: -attend Nottingham: Making of a Provincial City report: an interesting class, although the students are basically going to teach the entire class which is normal, I guess, except that the prof isn't going to lecture on anything, which is quite odd. We do however get to take a walking tour of the buildings in Nottingham with the prof who was originally scheduled to teach the class. -ultimate frisbee practice indoors report: this was my first indoor frisbee practice ever which was really cool and interesting. The game is pretty much the same with a few minor adjustments--the stall count is decreased from 10 to 8 seconds and there are only 5 players per team on the court at one time rather than 7 in outdoor ultimate. Overall it's pretty fun and ... read more

So we leave Yeovil and end up in Halkidiki on the Kassandra peninsula in Greece for 2 weeks. We got to our hotel at bout 130am/2am and was to be up and at the hotel bar at 10am the next morning for our welcome meeting with the rep. That was a waste of an hour into our day the possibly couldve been better used catching up on sleep. Anyways we signed up for a meal and a quiz night in Hanioti for that night. We had a wee looksie around the village of Hanioti and found the beach which looked decent enough and a look round the shops which all sold the same things really but then its catered towards the tourists. Went out to the meal at an italian restrauant and meet some other people ... read more

Ciao tutti! October 6, 2005 How are you all doing? This week has started out much better for me, the weather is also warmer. I found out why my house is so cold. My family hasn’t turned on the heater! But, it’s not their fault. There is a law in Irsina that says you can only turn on the heater after a certain date, and I think that date is about a month from now! Aii! I’ll just have to layer shirts until my winter clothes come in the mail, and the heat is finally turned on. Food is getting better, as I’m getting used to the pasta. We eat a lot of fruit, I’ve never eaten this much fruit. On the subject of food, I don’t think that I’ve ever eaten this healthy either. Its ... read more

We arrived in Germany in the afternoon (I think!) and made the decision to stay in Frankfurt that day. We were a little EXHAUSTED! We found a hotel using the hotel reservation service they had in the airport (very simple - but probably not the cheapest option). The room was nice - very modern looking. Showered and changed, we went out looking for trouble! Of course the Australian cafe was the first place we had a drink! I became very good at saying (and excuse the spelling) sprechenzie English! On all but one occasion the answer was "A little bit", their a little bit was quite a lot really! We walked around a bit, but couldn't stay up very long, so back we went to the Hamburger Hotel! ... read more

So fall break un-officially started this evening with our flight to London. Bob, Karin, Ryan T., Michael, Carolyn, and I left Alicante at about nine for our flight to Luton Airport which is the airport we were going to use to get to Budapest. It was my first time using EasyJet and I was pretty impressed. The flight to London is about 2 and a half hours from Alicante. We were all so pumped for what is sure to be an amazing trip. We land in the airport glad to be alive and wait for our luggage. Bob´s and my luggage: check, Karin´s and Carolyn´s: check, Ryan´s: yep, Michael´s: umm...no. So all of us get our luggage except Michael. Funny how karma works out, huh?. Just kidding, Mike. But yeah, so it´s the first few mintues ... read more

Mid Atlantic. Not sleeping very well even with two seats, but at least we have plenty of room this time. Breakfast not a moment too early, but again Kate's lactose free meal is better... I think I've got to come up with a better dietary requirement. Low carb just isn't getting me anywhere. ~ an hour to land there is no avoiding it, I'm going to have to do battle with my mortal enemy - the aircraft toilet. Yet again the toilet wins 8-( Arr.
