Kevin Costner plese z volkovi. Jaz plavam z zelvami. Nekaj mora biti res hudo narobe z mano. Ob 11.45 smo lagano odrinili barcici naproti, pobrali smo se druge snorklarje po otoku ... read more

Tezko je bilo zapustiti Bunga Raya guesthouse, ker je gazda res totalna faca. Poleg tega stalno nosi neko hrano not in mi jo ponuja; tako sem morala ze veckrat zavrniti nasi lemak in neke pocukrane pizdarije.

Despite the stacks of work staring at me (now that I have tidied them up yada) I feel that I wouldn't be doing these memories justice if I don't blog about my trip/s to both Pulau Redang, and the Perhentian Island/s. On a note, I must really thank my lucky stars, and that I be allowed to travel, within a short break of a month, to visit Redang, and later to visit Perhentian. So here goes: The first trip was with my cousins, Angel & Kelvin and Kel's girlfriend, Jacyln (: It was my first time travelling out with them without my family, my parents and it was a whole new experience. One thing for sure, cousin Kelvin has really matured, hahaha. So much more than the last impression I have had of him. Felt the ... read more

Our journey here wasn’t without its hassles. Our bus was over an hour late leaving and we had to wait beside 20 or 30 other buses in an underground bus park with all their engines running. It was hot, humid and the fumes were intoxicating. Add to that people staring at you the whole time and it becomes very uncomfortable. I know we’re different looking but surely we’re not as alien as some people make us out to be. You could stare back with full eye contact and this does not put them off. Eventually we got on the bus and we were on the road to Terengganu where we would get a connecting bus to Kuala Besut where we would get a boat to the island. It sounds like a long hall but it wasn’t ... read more

Let us get one thing off our chest straight away, Perhentian Kecil has the worst value accommodation in our 3 years of travelling and the most expensive internet but conversely it had some of the best snorkelling we have done and some of the best beaches/cleanest water we have seen. Our flight from Hong Kong got us to Kuala Lumpur’s Cheap Charlie Terminal at around midnight and our flight to Kota Bharu was at 7:30am so we roughed it and spent the night at the airport. We didn’t really get much sleep as the only seats available (it seems everyone and his wife had the same idea as us!) were some right next to a TV which blared out prayers at the Hajj full blast on repeat for 6 hours! Arriving into Kota Bharu we were ... read more

18 August, 2009 - 20 August, 2009 KUALA TERENGGANU Kuala Besut to Kuala Terengganu by bus (RM10.60)--2 1/2 hours After spending an extra night on the Perhentian Islands we finally felt ready enough to leave our little piece of paradise (actually, the cash ran dry so we had no choice!). We awoke bright and early and caught the 8am speedboat for the hellish journey back to Kuala Besut. Hellish? But why? After boarding a relatively overloaded boat we had to transfer to an even more overloaded one in the middle of the sea (requiring extreme balancing skills with the backpacks on!). This boat, at a guess, had a maximum capacity of about 16. There were 25 people on board and a ton of baggage...and the sea was relatively rough! Thoughts of being stranded, floating on the ... read more

Obviously before you lose paradise you'll have to find it. We found it somewhere in the South Chinese sea, at least for a couple of days. Jet our arrival at paradise wasn't that great. It was in the middle of a tropic storm to be precise. We tried to outrun the storm by quickly jumping on a speedboat. But it caught us mid sea anyway and had us soaked in mere seconds. Its a great experience though, jumping from the bus into a speedboat, racing on waves that get bigger and bigger. catapulting our boat right into the next one. All the while looking then back, then forward noticing the storm closing in on us while our island destination grows larger at a terrible slow rate. In the end it loomed over us spelling ill fortune ... read more

August 12, 2009 - August 18, 2009 Travel info: Whakaf Bharu station to Kota Bharu Bus Terminal by taxi (RM15) Kota Bharu to Kuala Besut by bus (RM6)--2 hours Kuala Besut to Perhentian Kecil by speedboat (RM70 return)--30mins Finally arriving back north near the Thai border at Whakaf Bharu (Kota Bharu's only train station about 5kms away) we jumped into a cab to take us to Kota Bharu bus terminal to catch the bus to Kuala Besut on the coast. The taxi driver couldn't comprehend why we didn't want him to take us straight to the coast! It's hard trying to explain to some people why a tourist would want to take the harder, longer, more arduous route instead of being driven straight there....well, the answer is obviously to save money, but also to experience more ... read more

Beach, book, sunshine, snorkelling, clear water...yes to all the above. Perhentian Kecil is my current location, after a day on a bus and a (speedy/bumpy!) boat we arrived at the island of Perhentian Kecil. Luckily we had managed to pre-book accomodation at D'Lagoon because all the other places on the island were full. Most people headed to the popular Long beach and got turned away. In fact, D'Lagoon turned out to be the better option for us, with more fish and better snorkelling than the sands of long beach. We were able to walk 10 minutes to Turtle bay and snorkel, then another ten minutes to Adam and Eve bay for more snorkelling. I saw a small black tip reef shark which was cool. The water is perfect, and the coral is quite good, especially the ... read more

In July 2009, me and my friend Jodie decide to run from hustle bustle of Kuala Lumpur. Traffic jammed, tonned of work, late night stay in office really make us sick. So we decide for a short visit to Pulau Perhentian and while i take this chances to polish my skill in diving. After make deal with our friend who live in Perhentian Besar and work as a diving instructor in Fauna reef, again we got complimentary rooms . We arrived jetty Kuala Besut early morning, Abang Juma welcome us with a big smile. He is very helpful person. He arrange our boat transfers for RM50 ( two and frow ) only, while everybody else need to pay double from that amount. We catch early boat at 7am and reach Fauna ( Perhentian Besar ) ... read more
