Tuesday, Oct 20th Later on in Anjuna, Goa So, now we arrived in Goa. Our plane was about an hour late, but if you learn one thing here, it’s patience… Besides patience, India teaches you thankfulness. I am just so lucky, that I was born where I was born and that I was able to live outstandingly well, go to school, get a university degree and so on. But let me get on with Goa: my first impression: very touristy, reminded me kinda of the Canary Islands. We met two girls at the airport and shared a taxi with them, which was awesome, cause we saved money. Amy’s feeling very sick today, so we just took some hotel for this night. It’s way too expensive (500 INR), for it’ll do for one night. We have our ... read more

Hi everyone. Thomas here! VV is busy updating her CV for job stuff (I know I know, she never stops does she) so I have been elected as chief blog do-a-ra. Ok so for the last 6 days we have been in north Goa in a place called Anjuna. It’s basically a beach town famous for a Wednesday flee market on the beach and sun and sea and other beachy goings on. Because its been low season on our trip so far we have seen very few westerners but the first thing we noticed about this place is that its full of gringos (The South American term for westerners that VV and I have adopted to identify other foreigners). Some of them are stinky hippies that got stuck here about 30 years ago and some are ... read more

Yesterday we arrived in Goa and it's beautiful... at least our hotel that is. For the first week in India, we're just trying to relax and take it easy... trying to prepare ourselves for the "Delhi belly" but we haven't gotten it yet... knock on wood! Today we did a tour of Goa. Guilty to say we did most of the tour in our car though. I don't mind the heat that much here but it's the humidity that is unbearable. Haven't gotten my hair done in a year so right now it's like that Vietnamese glass/cellophane noodles, when you add water it expands ten folds. That's why I try not to be in many of these pictures. When we step out of the car, we're practically drenched... not sure if it's from perspiration or from ... read more

Hello So we have had a busy busy few weeks traveling around India - mostly with a day or two here and there with 12 hour train journeys in between. I'll try to give you an idea what we did in each place we visited below but be warned this might turn out to be an epic blog! Varanasi The first place we visited after Darjeeling. We found out it IS possible to fit three people and all their luggage in an Auto-Rickshaw (just) as we sped through the narrow streets to get to the ghat area where we had to get out and walk to our guesthouse (Shanti Guesthouse). We managed to spend about 5 hours on a boat on the Ganges while we were there for just one night and the best part of ... read more

One of the India women we got to know in Arambol said that her Dad ran a resteraunt and guest house in Anjuna and we should check it out so thats what we did. It looked grand so we stayed. It was right in the middle, both in the mddle of nowhere and everywhere. Anjuna is split in to the beach and the main road in town. We were in the middle, so we had to walk if we wanted to go anywhere but at least we could... Curlies is the place to be on Thursdays in Anjuna, we had an early dinner and a few drinks to get us started. We met up with 2 English lads from northhampton the were staying in our guest house. Strange how you meet people by complete coincidence and ... read more

...I'm covered in colour. It's Holi festival in India and all the kids re running around with bags of dye powder and throwing it at people. I was prepared for it, but I'm catching a flight in a few hours and haven't got time to wash it off. argh. But its fun. :-) Yes, i am soon to leave Anjuna and haven't got time to tell in detail what i've been up to (do i hear sighs of relief?) But basically, I went paragliding, fun fun fun soaring in the sky above the eagles, and then broke my fake kroks (yes i bought some!) on the walk down from the hill top. I stayed in the beach huts and had a swarm of ants carrying bits of cake from my bag to their nest, it was ... read more

Have finally reached a computer, or at least made the effort to walk to a computer place! I've been in Goa since last friday, but here is the low down on what I've been up to since Baroda. Adi's mum arranged for me to be looked after in Mumbai, the housekeeper/office worker called Zup Singh collected me from the train station and took me back to the flat for amazing food. Then I went to the office and met Mr Johnson my Mumbai guide. He took us to a museum where they almost confiscated my sun cream as a suspect liquid or something. We then saw the Taj Hotel and Cafe Leopolds and the gateway to india. it was nice to get some kind of understanding of the layout of the main touristy areas, for I ... read more

So been here a couple of days now and getting the hang of things ( I think!) Booked into a different guest house yesterday which is a bit closer to things. Quite nice, haven't seen any cats yet. Plenty of dogs and cows roaming the beach. Overheard a conversation on the beach yesterday, local girl chatting to a tourist was horrified that she would eat a cow! The food here is really nice, you certainly wouldn't starve. I would say it's a vegetarians paradise, but in saying that you don't have to go very far for a Domino s Pizza! Also caught a glimpse of something the guide books warn about,: the groups of Indian men who come on holiday to Goa just to ogle at the western women in bikinis! It's quite funny actually as ... read more

Well here I am , arrived yesterday afternoon to a hot and sticky Goa, mad taxi drivers and dead looking dogs! Was very glad I pre-arranged my hotel and transfer, I was so tired and as it turned out the hotel was a hour from the airport so I wouldn't have coped with haggling and traipsing around looking for a room. After an hours kip I went to explore but forgot about it getting dark so quickly here so by the time I walked the length of the road it was too dark to see anything and see what was what so I headed back to the hotel. Seems to be all sorts here, was keeping my eye out for English speakers, but trust me to get chatting to the dodgy pissed geezer from Gilford!Seems he's ... read more
