Today has been pretty much the best day so far. Like, really amazing. But I think its been a while since I've updated on here, so I'll rewind a wee bit! We spent a week in Varkala. There's not an awful lot to do there, except everything which was needed right at that very moment. Sun, sea, facials, beer, cocktails, ace new friends, and a jolly good laugh. Picture this.... sun setting, feeling snoozy on the beach, some guy playing a wee wooden flute next to us... then a pack of dogs come over, and one pisses right next to us. Nice. The beaches are crazy. Dog and cows, and even goats walking about! After seven nights of lazing about, we packed up our belongings in the hut (the same hut which some cheeky little chancer ... read more

My time in Goa is coming to an end. Today we took a day trip to Vagator beach a few miles north of Anjuna. Although there are a few attempts at setting up resorts there, it is still unspoiled. The beach is at the bottom of a steep cliff and there are no roads that lead down there. There are however a few beach shack cafes down there. We parked our buts in one of them and watched the women who are porters carry down two cases each on their heads and another one under the arm. The women who do this seem to be from a specific community, they dress differently and don't interact with the other workers on the beach. The women who sell stuff on the beach are all from Karnataka. They all ... read more

My new friends Stephanie & Anton and I arrived in Anjuna yesterday. Anjuna pretty much sucks. Unfortunately we have been spoiled from being @ the Big Fish in Palolem. First of all, the lay out is not pleasant. The lodgings are on the side paths and are pretty ratty looking and there aren't any really good restaurants around. It's pretty quiet, the season has not started yet. The hassle factor is huge. Every souvinper stand has to call you in with the ubiquitous "Come see my shop". Yesterday I fell and broke the screen on my notebook. The good news is that all my stuff and pictures are still on it. I just have to plug in a monitor to use it. I'm sitting in a cliff side restaurant listening to the droning beat of techno. ... read more

December 2010 Sidika and I have fled the cold and chaos of Delhi for the warmth and chilled out vibes of the gilded playground of Goa. After a week or so at Magic Park, Arambol, in a hut inhabited by many different species of mosquito, we take ourselves off to Casa Natividad, South Anjuna, where we put ourselves into the care of Jean Pierre Avantario at Here and Now Healing (www.healinghereand now.com). We have prepared for the week long colon cleanse by progressively eliminating items from our daily diet until it comprises only raw vegetables, fruit and litre upon litre of coconut water. Day 1 On arrival Jean Pierre gives us an iridology consultation, weighs us and takes our blood pressure. My iris indicates that my digestion is toxic and my lungs and ovaries show up ... read more

Now adamant that we should all have been opening for England, we drove back up towards Agra and the famous Taj Mahul. As one of the wonders of the world expectations were high but it didn't disappoint. Unfortunately, there's literally nothing else to do in Agra, so we took a tuk-tuk down to the local Pizza Hut and overpaid massively for the comforts of home, demolishing three large family feasts and a couple of Sprites a piece. After a week of nothing but veggie noodles (spelt noddles on most menus), it went down a treat. The next day we took our first sleeper train down South. We got on about six O'clock Friday night and didn't arrive till half six Sunday morning. We took a taxi to Anjuna and strolled along the beach looking for somewhere ... read more

The yoga is energetic and i'm paying the price of not doing any for two months. My body is aching from head to toe and its only day two. The food is fantastic and I've met some really lovely people. So this is it for the next few weeks..... and i gues you'll hear the rest on my return! 11/03/11............ read more

Goa is different. So many white people here. Beach. Sea. Chill Out. Yoga. It is a very good place to think. Think about yourself, meanings, purposes, life. If you talk to people here, u meet lots of "outsiders". they have chosen to live a life outside of what i call the society. they are very relaxed, kind people. open-minded. but what is their purpose? why do they live? are they stuck or are they free? i will find out!... read more

The journey down to Goa on the night bus wasn't too bad. Our very friendly yet expensive travel agent guy told us that it'd be a nightmre for us on the cheaper bus and we should book the even more expensive sleeper option but our budget wouldn't allow that so we persisted and got the cheap seats. About half way along the road we stopped for a break at a roadside dhaba, the place seamed clean enough but a little too expensive for my stomach so we munched on the crisps we'd brought with us and relaxed in an empty bus for a while. Soon enough the bus filled back up and we were moving once again. Arrival in goa was a little bit of a round and about mission of sorts as we went straight ... read more

Friday - Christmas Eve I woke up at Kelly's after a pretty bad night's sleep. Her bed is quite hard and even with ear plugs in, I can still hear people/animals/things outside. Someone came to brush their teeth pretty much outside her window at sunrise (around 7am),which would have been fine if it was as simple as that, but the norm here seems to be to hack one's lungs up at the same time to clear any phlegm inside. Nice. *Toilet talk alert* I usually don't have any problems doing a nice big poo in the morrnings, but today I just couldn't move anything. Usually a cigarette helps things on their way if there are any 'blockages', but even this didn't work today. I was also made a cup of black tea by Kelly's neighbour, but ... read more

Wednesday - day 21 Today was more of the same same. I went to the centre, walked more dogs, took more videos (the right way up and in 'widescreen' format this time), ate lunch with my hands and left with Denis to go to Anjuna market for the last time via the petrol station and the bank. After the petrol station, I arrived at the ATM i usually use at the Corporation bank on the road between Anjuna and Vagator. I put my card in, asked for the maximum amount of 10,000 rs (around £150) and recoiled in horror as the machine told me my card had been 'blocked'. What was going on??? This is the way the day went for me after that point. I texted my Mum to ask if she'd tried to use ... read more
