Thailand, here we come!!! Groetjes, Ramon & Jacinta... read more

Went back to Pen Thai (229 Thanon Rambuttri) for one last green curry and singha. Caught a minibus to the airport for 90B which took about an hour - half an hour of driving round to pick people up, and half an hour to get there. It was weird driving there with the expressway above us, and the skytrain above that (sort of reminded me of the jetsons). Got safely through airport security, was a bit worried of having a Bridget Jones incident, not that I bought any wooden stuff just in case, and was sure to only give people i met vague details of when i was leaving and where exactly i was going to next. Had the slowest check in guy at the airport, who then informed me that I had too much checked ... read more

ok, here i am in italy. i'm surprised i have this little bit of time but i do. ok. now to update you on what's been going on over here. after sightseeing in nice yesterday, we went back to the campsite and had dinner (roast - can you believe it!!) then... a rather big night in the bar at our campsite. it was all very fun and light hearted. everyone was in such a good mood. i gave myself a curfew of 12 (and i only stayed out til 12.30 so that was pretty good). everything was still going very strong and there were a lot of weary people on the bus. (most people left at 4.30 so i was very good in comparison). it was so much fun though!! today was a big travelling day ... read more

It's been a bustling, bang-up couple of days, and now I admit I'm just plain tired. We're in the London Stansted airport waiting for a 2:20PM flight to Shannon (it's 9:15AM now). And I'm EXHAUSTED. We went to Pompeii for the day yesterday (Sunday) and didn't get back to our hostel in Rome until 2AM. That wouldn't be so bad except that this morning we boarded a bus for the Rome Ciampino airport at 4:30AM. No sleep for us, except for maybe a 30-minute nap and any broken periods of sleep on the Rome-London plane! So, a re-cap of what's happened since our first day in Florence: Saturday morning, of course, we were in Florence. We slept in in our comfy beds at Hostel Pio X (just a brief walk from the city centre), which was ... read more

April 11th 2005.....late afternoon South-West London, England. Spent the day walking about London. My legs are killing me. It began with the decision to walk from the hostel to Harrods, in Knightsbridge, rather than waste the money on a bus or the tube, which really are unrealistically expensive. I was quite enchanted with the Natural History Museum's architectural qualities, and so trotted in for a quick look. They've got some really great dinsosaur skeletons and such there, as well as much which I didn't see, including, apparently, an earthquake simulator! But I wandered into the conservation area, with all these examples of how we're plundering the earth and the effects and such forth, and it was a bit overwhelming, sort of coming from all sides and all. So although I don't usually get too fussed about ... read more

You may not know it but I am now a hockey superstar. Well OK, not a superstar exactly, but I participate with vigour and I did win the coveted stuffed toy donkey award for best on ground one week - not bad for a loser who didn't know the rules at the start of the season. I don't think my dream of Beijing 2008 gold medal glory is exactly on track but I'm having fun nonetheless. I play for the mighty Blackheath Ladies 4th XI (see, my name on the site proves I play) and while we didn't achieve great success we avoided relegation to Kent League Division 8 - actually I'm not sure if it goes that low. Summer hockey starts next week and the idea of playing in temperatures over five degrees and having ... read more

Today was another full day. We were up early so we had breakfust and then came back to our room and went to sleep. Got moving around 10am and were headed towards Powerscourt. We walked to the bus stop we needed and on the way there passed through St. Stephen's Green. It was a really nice park. Lots of green grass and colorful flowers. The bus ride to Powerscourt was fun - we sat on the top. It was nice to leave the city and see some of the landscape. When we got there we had to walk up this incredibly steep hill. I think my legs will hurt tomorrow. At the top we found the entrance and had to walk a long bit until we hit the gardens. It was tiring, but really scenic and ... read more

Hello Lovelies! Yes. You are absolutely right. My effort at blogging has been less than satisfactory. Please interpret my silence NOT as indifference to keeping you abreast of my adventures, rather as evidence of the extremely rich nature of my experience over the past four weeks. At this point the idea of writing is daunting! The 2 weeks of silat training in Spain kicked my butt. Essentially 6 intense hours of squats and lunges (with a spiritual-energetic component, of course) per day for 13 days. Two weeks later, the bruises and scrapes are healed and my body is still integrating the internal changes. Structurally unwinding, deprogramming, reprogramming…. the best part is my feet - they are so alive, awake, aware, sensing - I can’t bear to put them in shoes, poor things. The really want to ... read more

We only had a half day in Brugge as a group, but it was such a good time. We wandered around the town, ended up in a park and then spent an hour playing on the playground. The next day Lorna & I stayed in Brugge while the others took day trips to other WWI & WWII sites. We went to a chocolate museum and took a boat tour through the canals of the city, went back to the play ground from the day before and even got belgian waffles.... read more
