Neither of us got much sleep, but the flight seemed to go quickly. We caught up with the sun around 1:00 am eastern time (6:00 am GMT) which really made it seem like morning, even though it had only been dark out for a few hours. We were served croissants (which somehow seemed more international to me) at 6:30 am GMT, and we landed at Gatwick at 7:45 am GMT. At this point, I think our tiredness was fended off by our excitement as we quickly made our way through the customs line. A group from Zimbabwe was lined up in front of us, and they looked much more tired than we did. After clearing customs, we zipped off to find the ticket window for the Gatwick Express in to the city. This turned out ... read more

After Returning from Belgrade, Polona and I drove to Croatia where we stayed for the Slovenian Holiday. The Adriatic was a little cold but that didnt stop us from taking a swim. We made some delicious mushroom soup and spent out mornings drinking coffee at different cafes overlooking the harbour and the adriatic sea. TGiven the May Holiday (5 days off for Slovenes and honorary Slovenes ) here were a lot of festivities and live music, including the famous Oliver Dragojevic. There is a little pair of islands of the coast that are accessible by boat and have great swimming. The boat to Crveni Otok (Red Island) has a number of departures per day providing transport to the Hotel Istra, a high class hotel on the Island. Red Island is connected to Maskin Island, which ... read more

Well I arrived safe and sound in Sunny Rodos, no major problems with flights, although they still are very strict with liquids in your hand luggage so be warned anyone flying out in the near future. I would certainly recommend going via London Gatwich again as no problems there in doing the transfer and all my luggage arrived at the same time as me (even though I did fly B.A!!) Feels like I've been here for weeks, but this is only the start of my 3rd day! It is a lot hotter today (been very windy over past couple of days). Am going to Kos next week for a few days with my friends, taking the boat and staying in a rather nice hotel - www.kosaktis.gr (hang the expense!!) Well that's all for now, off to ... read more

Were are all living in America, America ist wunderbar-- die Freiheit spielt aus allen Geigen, die Musik kommt aus den Weissen Haus und vor Paris steht Mickey Maus... Ja niille joilla koulusaksa jai valiin, suomennos: Me asutaan kaikki Amerikassa, Amerikka on mahtava—vapaus kaikuu joka torvesta, musiikki raikaa valkoisesta talosta ja Pariisin porteilla seisoo Mikki Hiiri... Tama pikku johdantona Pariisissa kolmessa vuodessa tapahtuneisiin muutoksiin. Paris chicin saa kolme-nelja kertaa halvemmalla, ... read more

Hello!! My travels have brought me to Germany and Europe for the next few weeks. I have more access to a computer now also than ever before while traveling, so perhaps I'll be able to update this frequently! I'm staying (until May 19th) with my childhood friend, Angie, and her husband and baby AJ on the military base in Kaiserslautern. It's about 6:30pm here right now, and I got here at 7:30am. It was interesting because although French is my forte, I realized on the flight here I don't know any German besides being able to say, "shit," "no," "girl," "thank you," and that's about it. I didn't even remember (or really know in the first place) how to say "Yes" or "hello" in German, and with the insanity of school in the past few weeks, ... read more

It seems to be cloudy most mornings to fine for the reat of the day. Stayokay is a massive hostel and pretty good as well. Had a massive included breakfast today, big line though. Decided to visit the Van Gogh Museum which was really interesting. There were about 200 paintings an seeing so many in order you eally get to notice his style an how it changed during his years. Saw the Potato Eaters nad one of his famous Sunflowers, but found others i enjoyed more. The audio guide helped emensly with the history. Got a tram up to Dam Square, where all the human statues and street acts were out on show. Had herd there was something going on for Liberation Day in the park across from the Rijksmuseum. It was called the Bevrijoings ... read more

So, I got up and got packed as Alicia did the same for she was heading to the islands for the weekend. We then caught the metro and parted our ways. I got to the airport check-in to be told there is a good chance i might not make today's flight as they were nearing the plane's weight limit. So, i had to wait along with other people to see how many of us will make the flight. Well, it came down to a couple, me, and one other lady left w/ just 30 minutes before the plane departs. She then said she can take one more person and since the couple didn't want to split up, i was next on the list!!! Thank god!!! So, i rushed onto the plane and was on my way ... read more

Cinco de Mayo in Provence. We made our way to Avignon after breakfast and went to a market (where I felt I got more dirty looks because of the video camera than anywhere else on these trips) and walked through town to the Palace Square. We did not go inside the Palace of the Popes, but we did take a quick peek into the cathedral next door. It was already time to head to the location of our BBQ lunch by that time. The weather was better (not sunny, but not raining) when we arrived, and the food was already being prepared. Regis and Chantal were our hosts, and Patrick and Babette and Babette's son Olivier were there to join us. Regis and Chantal run a small 6-bedroom inn, which they spent 2 years fixing ... read more
