Europe » United Kingdom » England » Greater London May 8th 2007

Already nine days had passed, Norway and Carina were so restful, full of good and strong vibes, i wish i could come back soon... So for that, landing in London was hard ! The weather was not really good (even if it was finally acceptable during the stay in London), only few hours sleeping before catching the bus to the airport at 6am had finished to kill me ! I arrived in this massive city, noisy, polluted, crowded, complete lost... and after the gorgeous countryside in Scandinavia, one day was a necessity to get used of that and finally i enjoyed this city... ... to be continued ...... read more

Arrived in Irkustk at 8:20am and then took a private bus to Listvyank which is on the edge of Lake Bakaal the worlds largest lake. We dropped our bags at the homestay our host is Puva. We then met and toured the lake meuseum then went for lunch then had a walk round the town. We then returned to the homestay a flat and the host had cooked us boursch (beetroot soup) fish pie (Omou) then a jelly. In the evening the group went to the bar in a hotel. On our return the curtain pole came away from the wall when we drew the curtains.... read more

Let´s see how well this works out...It´s my intent to keep a little track of the fun stuff we have found in our latest time here in Spain. If we can help give some of you ideas on where to go, that´s even better. Claudia and I have been in Spain for over a week now, and we´ve cut a path straight south from Madrid toward Toledo. The previous trip, we mainly stuck to the largest cities, Barcelona and Madrid, but this time we´re seeing what most would call the most romantic (and historically turbulent) area in Spain, where the confluence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish heritage have combined to make some great architecture and food. But enough about that, I´m starting to sound like a travel book...The scenery is excellent, and in my next post, ... read more

UK Trip(8th May - 4th June, 2007) Mum and I had a couple of days in London before taking off again for our trip around the UK and Ireland. We spent some time in Harrods and rode their Egyptian escalators valued at 20 million pounds! My nieces and nephews will be happy as mum did a bit of shopping at Hamleys (multi-level toy store on Regent Street). We also made it to the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace where the crowds of people made viewing somewhat difficult. Kensington Palace was impressive which was once the home of Princess Diana. Mum was happy to be seeing another musical in the West End - Billy Elliot. A very humorous musical with Billy’s demented grandmother being the funniest. She could never remember where she had hidden ... read more

15:10 pm Our journey to Svalbard has been delayed by 8 days. Lars had alot of jobs that were delayed and needed to be done e.g taking the boat out of the water to paint the bottom plus sjöverket needed to measure the boat, something to do with a certificate of registation. Anyway we finally got under way but only to Marstrand. Winds were blowing around 16 m/s and in the wrong direction. Valentine Stone, brother to Clive Stone, who we met in the Caribian with Pam, Clive's wife (Nicky Tam II), has been with us since 3rd May. He has been taking it wasy at our home. getting into the time deifference. He's been in Australia, India (where he lives) and now Sweden. Val will be 70 in July. Nearly no one in Marstrand ... read more

Europe » Italy » Tuscany » Florence May 8th 2007

Everyone's probably given up on checking this thing by now, but in case I have any persistant followers.... Since the last update I've had two amazing spring break trips. First we went to Vienna and Prague. Then I met my family in Venice and headed over to Cinque Terre which is my favorite place in Italy. 5 little towns settled right into the cliffs. Gorgeous! My second spring break followed closely and me and the girls headed to Greece. The first trip we all have taken together since Venice in January. It was AMAZING. If Cinque Terre is the best place in Italy, then Greece is the best place in the WORLD. Everywhere else i've been i've felt satisfied when leaving but not Greece. I don't think I could ever get enough. We spent 4 nights ... read more

Europe » Greece » South Aegean » Naxos May 8th 2007

Hey everyone from Naxos! It's our second day here on the biggest Cycladic island at 20k people (and no, these islands are not just for cycling around)-- that was Dennis. It's very pretty here, but we both agree that Mykonos was better. It's very hot here, possibly more than Mykonos, and right now Dennis is petting a beautiful white lab. Dennis is trying to tell him to sit, but we just realized he probably doesn't understand English, so Dennis is looking up how to say sit in Greek. Well we got here yesterday afternoon on the high speed boat. It only took about 40 minutes. It's definitely greener than Mykonos, but we forgot our camera cord again, so no photos for you. We will probably update in Santorini again (not tomorrow but the next). Our hostel ... read more

Europe » Russia » Northwest » Moscow May 8th 2007

So, when I left this last I said we arrived in Moscow and immediately fell into fear and panic, I'll elaborate now. Though wheezy woman's son gave me a few details like where the Metro station was and how much the tickets cost, we had no roubles yet as they are only available inside Russia. A hangover from when the economy collapsed in the nineties I believe. We found an ATM machine straight away but found all of our cards were being declined. Fearing the worst we tried a few more machines, hoping every time that it wouldn't go 'Yum yum, tastes like British' and chew our cards up. We thought it might be something to do with the PIN as the screen had 6 spaces rather than the usual 4. Or it might just ... read more

Europe » Spain » District of Madrid » Madrid May 8th 2007

route so farHi Guys, Brook has been adding most of the text and will be filling in the Spain to Morocco entry soon. It´s all typed up on her phone. So I thought I would just add my own personal touch. We are now in Madrid after spending 5 days in Marrakech. It was a bit crazy there. Personally I think 5 days was 2 too many but we did go for a cool day trip to some cascades or waterfall a few hours from Marrakech. They were quite spectacular and we had a good walk down the ravine in which they run, stopping along the way for some excellent views of the falls and the pools below. I was the only one who stripped off and went for a swim. A bit cold but very ... read more
