Sahagun - El Burgo Raniero 07.30 - 12.25 Uhr 18 km. Schoen. Die ... read more

Hi everyone, Sorry I have not been able to send an update, it has been hard to find somewhere with internet. Russia is great so far except that the airline lost my luggage so I had the same cloths on for like three days (well I did buy some more shirts and stuff). We spent the first few days in St. Petersburg and it was really good, I am going to have to tell more about it in a few days thought becasue I only have 5 minutes on this computer. Sorry about the shortness of this but I wanted to let people know that I am fine and not to worry, Russia is actualy quiet safe. Love Danielle... read more

Hi Everyone I know we have been super slack with staying in touch but we have hardly had a chance to catch our breath so far!! At the moment we are in Porto (Portugal), we had our frist day here today but I should start from the beginning.... Our flight to London went well and we only arrived about half an hour later than expected. Adam and I both had about 6 hours sleep over the 24 hour flight so of course we were feeling extremely refreshed when Tommo (Adam´s friend who lives in London) picked us up from the airport. This was lucky as we only had 2 hours to get back from the airport, get showered and get to the pub in time for the All Black game against the Springboks. GO THE ALL ... read more

Hey Everyone. I am doing great. Rome is wonderful but so busy. My time in Tuscany was a lot of fun also. The Almalfi Coast was also amazing. Unfortunately I have 3 mins. to write before I run out of time. I will explain more later. Here are a few pictures to enjoy from my time in some Major cities in Tuscany. I will hopefully post more later. There is never enough time for Internet usage. Miss you all.... read more

Europe June 27th 2007

So I have been really terrible about updating my blog, the minutes seem to tick by soooo fast in the internet cafes. Since my last update we have seen just about every other country in western Europe it seems. After Berlin we went to Amsterdam. I was a little skeptic about the wild city but ended up really enjoying our couple of days there. We took a walking tour of the city, went into Anne Frank's house and the Red Light District. On our way to Bruges, Belgium we took a quick stop-over in Brussels, just enough time to see the towns beautiful main square and a few of the cute streets. In Bruges we rented bikes for the day to see as much as possible. We biked along the river, through the town square, to ... read more

Today, my rest day, I drove to the base of Mt. Cristallo where I caught the first of two lifts to the top at an elevation of 3000 m. People with safety harnesses hooked onto cables were, under the direction of a guide, climbing further up the mountain. The rock, all very steep and jagged, only served to remind me that I have a limited tolerance for these kind of heights. The fact that it was very cold, with plenty of snow still about didn't help my sense of unease------a far cry from the 30 C of Venice. During the quiet descent I was reminded of the debt of gratitude that I owe to certain people that have played a major role in allowing me to be " able" to take this journey. Three of the ... read more

I nearly had a nervous breakdown upon arrival in Siena. Hordes of tourists all marching lock step down the main drag towards Il Campo, the center square. Siena is completely worthless as a day trip. You might as well watch The Rick do a special on it instead. Then the sun goes down.......... Siena is absolute magic at night. It has the single best urban spot to drink a glass/bottle of wine that I have ever been to in the world. Il Campo, according to The Rick, is the single finest piazza in all of Italy. Rick, I have to say, I like your style. At night, travelers and locals come and buy a bottle of Morretti or a bottle of Chianti Classico and sit and chat in Il Campo. Unlike Florence, it is easy ... read more

Today, we changed plans a bit. We decided it would be a little more pleasant to stay in a real bed in a warm building tonight. We did some laundry, packed up camp, and headed for a different region of the Alps. The day was far from how we planed it, but it was still a great adventure. We were to drive a couple of hours to our next hiking spot: Maloja. We were starting to get the hang of reading the road signs and getting around. Everywhere we had been the local language had been German, but now we were south, and the signs were almost like an Italian language, and we got lost. We made a wrong turn early on and didn’t know so we kept following the directions because we didn’t know ... read more

Well, we might follow the advice of "when in Rome", if only we made it to Rome. The first leg of our flight got cancelled and the airline cannot get us out until 3 PM on Thursday, arriving in Rome on Friday at 10 AM. We're going to compress 2000 years of civilization into 12 hours. Hope to have more interesting news soon!... read more

Today we go higher into the mountains (above 2000metres) where we stop for a snowball fight. Chris drives us up to see the glacier - I just hope some of my photos are near the mark! We didn't walk on it - that takes a little more planning... The strings of people looked like ants way over there... Finally we return via Hemsedal, all the way back to Oslo - in time for Christer to get some sleep before an early departure for work next morning...... read more
