Hey all sorry its been 40 years since last entry, Internet use has been so expensive so havent been using much, that and we have been jam packed with things to do. Im trying to remember from England which was ages ago so stay with me. OK when we arrived at Heathrow from Dubai it was freezing compared to coming from 40 degree heat each day, but we pushed through. We stayed at Keith's house an old friend of cedrics from back in England, Dad see if you can recognise some of the pics i put up. We did all the main tourist things and then also spent a couple of days in Wimbledon where keeno put us up for a couple nights at the walkabout pub there which he manages. Munich Europe » Germany » Munich By The Mitch Matt and Cezza travelling circusJune 27th 2007 Ok so now we arrived in Munich from London which was nice as the weather is much better. We were staying at the Euro Youth hostel which kind of conceeded we werent going to sleep much which was the case. I think the first night we were there we went on a pub crawl and had some fantastic beers, im scared to think of what it will be like when we go back for oktoberfest. We checked out the many churches and sights and also see the result of me staying at all night and finding a bike on the side of the road and taking it for a leisurely ride through the huge gardens at 5:30a... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Surrey » Bletchingley June 27th 2007

Hi again, yes I know so soon. (what is going on......) Anyways don't really have too much to talk about. The weather has turned typically English (apparnetly) and it seems to be raining a lot now. Which is great now that we are actually going to soon be travelling and no longer stuck indoors. Although I suppose we won't actually be in England so I guess the weather may be different in Europe. (please excuse my rambling) Ok so just to clear things up. A lot of people have been asking if we have drowned in the floods. No we haven't. We haven't had that much rain. It's all up North. And we are in South East England. So we are safe. (yes all breath a sigh of relief) Anyways. Bletchingley had it's annual Bletchingley ... read more

ANYWAY Im now in Prague and Eastern Europe, and let me tell you, you definantely knew when you crossed the border.. At the German/Czech border the train stopped for at least 20minutes as the German conductors and drivers got off and the Czech ones, along with armed guards came on!! They then did a passport check in the presence of these guards, a little bit freaky let me tell you!! Prague's main train station... OH MY GOD.. is all I can really say.. Its a total nightmare, its like another world.. and OH MY GOD.. People trying to sell you hotels, taxi drivers who you ... read more

Europe » Italy » Liguria » Cinque Terre June 27th 2007

traveling to cinque terre from interlaken was a full-day experience. we left early, switched trains 4 times, and got to riomaggiore, the town at the southernmost end of the cinque terre, by late afternoon. cinque terre means five lands in italian, and the area consists of five small towns situated on cliffs and hills at the edge of the northwestern coast of italy. monterosso, the first town, has rocky-sandy beaches and is probably the largest of the towns. vernazza, the next town down the coast, has a small sandy beach and a few shops and restaurants. corniglia, the middle town, is situated on a hill and has amazing views. manarola is tiny and has rocks to lie out on. riomaggiore, the town we stayed in, is probably the second largest town and has lots of big ... read more

Europe » Austria » Vienna » Vienna June 27th 2007

On Sunday June 24, the feast of St. John the Baptiste, Canada´s patron saint, Ray and Andrew attend two high masses. One is the Haydn Theresien Mass at the Hofmusikkapelle (with Vienna Boys Choir - lots of flash photography, very touristy) and the other the Haydn Nelson Mass at in the St Augustin Church (very good organ, accoustics). In the following, week, they attend a popular Viennese opera, Die Fledermaus, at the Volksoper and go to the Vienna State Opera for two more serious works: Lohengrin by Wagner and Werther by Massenet All of the operas were the last performance for the season which ends June 30 for these two state opera companies. For the opera buffs: Ben Heppner was not that exceptional as Lohengrin. Others in the cast were more memorable and overall the ... read more
