Well I've come to a final conclusion... I suck at this traveling thing. Yesterday morning I couldn't get my ass out of bed my hand instinctfully kept hitting the snooze button and before I knew it I had 3 hours before my plane left. Frantically I ran around the house throwing the last of what I needed for my trip praying to the organization gods that I had everything I needed and called a cab. I thought I had plently of time. THOUGHT being the operative word. Waiting.. waiting... waiting.. waiting.. just as I thought I should call them again the cab showed up. Once at the train station I'm positive I missed the train because the waiting game started all over again.... by this point I'm staring at the clock thinking.. I don't think I'm ... read more

Sláinte. It means "Cheers" or "To your health." Our original plan for this weekend had been to go to Nice and Monaco, however we could not find an express train there. We considered renting a car, but with my license having expired on my birthday and Jennifer's getting jacked in the laundromat we figured that probably wouldn't work out either. Besides, most of the places we were looking at online there was no choice of an automatic and my skills with the stickshift are few. Very very few. The roads of Spain and France are probably not the place to try to hone that talent. So when it was suggested to us that we fly to Barcelona to meet up with our crew from the first half of the summer it wasn't a very hard choice. ... read more

02 July 06 Today Jay, Sarah and Sarah's mom (who is here visiting) went to go see the powerhouse falls. In an email that my cousin sent me said we should check it out. He said it was in Wicklow, but I didn't think about Wicklow County. So being the brilliant person that I am we went to the town Wicklow, and found no waterfalls. It was a nice town and all but it was just different from what we were expecting. The falls were actually like an hour away in another part of Wicklow Co. There was ruins of a castle there which was pretty neat. Sarah and her mom left for France and Italy a few days later. It was then Jays turn to leave, however she is not coming back. We didn't say ... read more

Day 76: Friday 21st. July 2006: Misty: We dropped the car off at the ferry and had smooth sailing to Belfast where it was a quick taxi ride to the train to Dublin. Said to the cabbie we would be back in a week and see him then!!!! Arrived in Dublin and walked to the hostel, lugged our cases up all the stairs, packed what we needed for the week into 1 case, then stored the other at the hostel. Took a walk around before settling for the night as we have a big week ahead with a Shamrockers "All Ireland Rocker". Day 77: Saturday 22nd. July: Shamrocker Day 1: Sunny / raining: Well, we're off to see Irelnd. There are 2 other women our age so we don;t feel out of it. Hey! we ... read more

01 July 06 I had been so excited for this day to come. Everyone at work knew when Canada Day was. It was even at the point where when I walked into work that morning one of the girls (Irish) wished me a Happy Canada Day. I made sure that I took the night off work and the next day as well. Jay and I met up when I finished work. We went to my place where we started to put on Canada day tattoos that Mom had sent me. Jirka and Monika (friend from Czech who is here for a few weeks) even joined in! Jay and I went to the hostel for a bit then we had to meet up with Jirka, Kamila and Monika. It felt weird walking around all excited for Canada ... read more

One thing that I have learned here is you can never take any thing for granted. If you want to do something do it. Don't wait around and say you will do it later there will always be time. I say this because you never know what life is going to hand you. The next major thing occurred here on 23 June 06. This was probably the most heartbreaking thing that has happened to me. A good friend of mine, Jim (James) Brooks died. He had had some drinks the night before and was put to bed by some of his friends because he was falling asleep in his chair. They made sure to lie him in his side so he couldn't swallow his tongue or his throw up. The next morning he was found dead ... read more

Well here we are in Dublin and have had a good start to this leg of the journy. I just finished reading the previous blog and now I will continue on with what we were up to. So we had a great time with Claire and Max and were sad to go. There were much huggs and many promises to return and visit at a later point. Max was the one to drive us to the airport because he has a GPS system that tells him where to go and it worked wonderfuly. We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare and went to check the board. There was no flight to Dublin....... hum........... now what..... Off to the information desk and they sent us to the desk for Ryan Air and found ... read more

Hello Everyone Since I last wrote I have done quite a lot. I caught up with Mum & Dad in London after the Europe trip, that was really great. We did a few touristy things around town, like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben etc. I only had 2 days with them & then they left to go back home to Australia. I also caught up with a few friends from the tour before they all headed off. We went to Jamie Oliver's restaurant 'Fifteen' for lunch. The food was really really good, I have never tasted such nice antipasta in my life. It was very expensive, but worth every penny. For the 4 of us it cost £168 (approx $400). Its obviously a popular place because it was full. After Mum & Dad left I had a ... read more

First thing I learned about Dublin was that I am very, very poor. Which sucks, but we all deal. The Beatles are playing at the Internet Cafe here, the first time in a week that I've been able to get onto a computer. AGHHHHH. Today I went to the Jameson Whiskey factory. It was very good. My mom was the official tastetester for the group, and she gave me most of her samples. I was lucky enough to meet up with my parents, because they just happened to be in this part of Ireland for ther week. Very Strange, but definately a happy coincidence. I'm losing my mind because things are so expensive! Its also very touristy. However, it is great. The live music is great and the main history museum here is great. I'm going ... read more
