The keyboard is a little different I keep hitting \ when I want shift, kind of weird. Nothing has really happened so I'll post something more interesting once we get to the continent. The Blog has landed! I took it upon myself to start this thing because I quite fancy myself as a journalist, and also to keep the worried people from the homelands happy. The story is this: Alex, Peter, Richard, Rob, Ross and Daniel are going to Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and wherever else seems good, just like a big walk in the park really, Anyway, this is just to keep whoever is interested posted. Enjoy! next log will be singapore i suppose. P.S. feel free to leave your comments on anything really, my skillfull prose, appaling spelling or whatever. We are a busy crew but will do our best to get back to you. ... read more

When Carlee and I were on the Aran Islands, we met these 2 guys from Galway. We were all hanging out on the beach one night and it was pretty late. Anyways, one of the guys got a call on their cell from their friend Paddy who lives in Dublin. Well, it turns out Paddy was quite a singer of traditional and modern Irish songs, and the later in the night it got, the better his songs were. We listened to Paddy's soothing voice and creative Irish songs coming through the cell with the waves and the wind all around us. Anyways, I had a few words with Paddy over the cell, I sang him Oh Canada, Rocky Raccoon and whistled the Strange Brew anthem. We made plans to meet in Dublin, he said, oh just ... read more

3 days in Dublin, Ireland. I haven't updated this blog in forever, mostly due to the lack of proper internet connectivity. Right now I am back in Krakow, in my favorite internet cafe, and I am going to attempt to catch up on the blogging. So. Should I start with the complaining or write about something fun? Ok, something neutral, more like a comment. Being in Dublin Ireland after 3 months of traveling in non-English speaking has been REALLY strange for me. I hear English on the streets when just a week before folks were speaking German, and before that Polish, Estonian, Finnish... I see signs in the streets in English and there's a teeny tiny split second when I am turning the words around in my head trying to figure out the "English meaning". This ... read more

This will be short. Like me. We are in Dublin. We are going to go take a nap. Because we are exciting and fun. Today: James Joyce Center Dublin Writer's Museum Jameson Distillery (Kelly) St. Stephen's Park (Sara) (No surprise on that division of activity). Later: Beer Dancing Tomorrow we sail to Cherbourg, France. That is fun to say. The day after tomorrow we ARRIVE in Cherbourg, France. We don't have any SEATS on this voyage, but that's going to have to be okay. This internet cafe is sketchy and hot and has no coffee. More internet than cafe, really. We would upload our many photos but it is taking forever. We will do that later. That is all. (Sara wants everyone to know that she is here participating in this blog. And the vacation. She ... read more

Day 21, Monday, June 12: Edinburgh to Birmingham Got up in the morning and did one last wander through of Edinburgh, before heading to the train for Birmingham. The 4 hour train ride was beautiful even with the impending storm (before this, the weather had been incredible). I got to Birmingham at about 4:30, knowing I would have to hang out at the train station as Kat had to work until 5-5:30.. When 6:30 came around, I decided to call and found out she got stuck at work, so here mom came all the way out to pick me up. We headed to a local pub for a couple of beers and then off to Kat's parents place, where we were cooked a nice steak. Kat and I caught up and then off to bed (seperately, ... read more

This means word up in Gaelic...actually this is how is sounds, not how it is spelled but until my trusty Irish friend gives me the correct spelling this title with have to do. Currently I am in Dublin, Ireland about to set off on yet another mad adventure. I am about to hop a train to go meet a friend of a friend who is driving around Ireland with his sister. I literally will be standing at the train stop in Northern Ireland, suitcase in hand, waiting for a stranger to take pity on me. I have been in Dublin for a few days and am having a blast. Met two couchsurfers while I was here, David and Eoin (pronounced Owen). Both are really cool guys. David showed me around the Temple Bar my first night ... read more

So we're down to our last full day in Europe. We've decided to spend it in the Temple Bar area of Dublin, lots of people, shops and most importantly, pubs. We're hoping to catch some more futbol on the tvs in the pubs because we've been trying to pay more attention to the World Cup teams. As we said before, the people over here love their soccer! We watched England run circles around jamaica yesterday. Sara is going to root for England and i'm going for the US and Holland. UNKA ED, since you've been one of our most consistent commenters, we have to tell you about the coffeeshops in Amsterdam. First of all, I'm guessing there are as many coffeeshops there as there are pubs here in Dublin. Each little section of the city has ... read more

Paul drops me off at the Toronto airport eight hours before my flight with only a backpack and a cocky mental attitude. Having never been on a plane or in an airport before i don't realize how long eight hours will really take. The only real indication of the passing time is how many times they play that Will Smith movie 'Hitched'. Apparently there's a group of travelers who swap information about the best airports to sleep for free in. Personally I don't see hows it even possible or why anyone would ever do it. Finally I go through security check and a pretty stewardess behind me looks to be in a rush, so i let her go ahead of me. Looking at my boarding pass that I had gotten many hours ago I go ... read more
