After enjoying a farewell meal at a local restaurant (if I’d known how many sandwich-type foods I’d be eating on this trip, I might not have had a sandwich for my farewell meal), we were at the airport and on our way. We had to connect in Toronto, where we had a 5 hour wait for our flight to Dublin. We occupied ourselves by having some really terrible chicken wings and downing Diet Cokes that had to be poured into cups because of the ban on liquids. We also heard a few Irish accents and saw a few Irish passports, which caused us to transform into giggly little schoolgirls. As the plane left the ground, we did little happy dances in our seats and then tried to get some sleep. We put on our very chic ... read more

well what a cool small city. I mean like literally 4000 pubs to choose from. I was in Heaven. Catching up on the blogs here I'm actually in Cork now. While in Dublin I checked out all the major atractions all which were within walking distance. Mom u would love all the parks with serious gardens. A fulltime staff taking care of them. So nice. And Dad u would be in heaven @ the old Jameson's distillery. I learned how to make whiskey. Gonna start as soon as i get home LOL. But Irish whiskey is the only type distilled 3 times which makes it extra smooth and way better then Scotch or Bourbon. I was choosen as one of the taste testing volunteers. 6 shots of whiskey MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. they were Jameson's, Powers, and Murphy's i ... read more

Well I ended up getting a couple of days work from Jules sister which was good to help fund our weekend in Dublin!! Alana and I jetted off on Friday night (our first flight together in 6 years!!! Wierd) after our 'quiet' thursday night before heading to Dublin for Fran's Hen night (one of Alana and Jule's best mates), we actually ended up getting rather pissed with everyone and were rather hungover! My first impressions of Ireland - rain, rain, cute accents, rain, rain, oops beer, rain, beer - you get the picture. We spent Saturday eating, then went to the pub - of course to get out of the rain!!! Ended back at the hostel at about 6.30 to get changed to head back out to you guessed it, drink more beer. We were all ... read more

We endured our night at the Travelodge and figured out how to take a bus into the Dublin city centre to pick up our rental car. We picked up the car and the fun began. Drive on left side of the road, sit on the right side, shift with left hand - what a nightmare! We slowly drove back to the Travelodge and picked up our stuff. With me driving and Karen navigating, we slowly and white knuckledly (is that a word?) made it across country to Headford, where we would be staying for a few days. Headford is a small village about 20 kms north of Galway. The house belongs to John Power, the brother of Karen's friend Liam. Liam runs the soccer camps that Jack has attended. John does the same in the Galway ... read more

Well it's bag packing time.. Tonight I'm heading to the airport to sleep there since there are no buses that will get me to the airport in time. This is so typical all over ther world.. Since I wrote last I've seen alot more of Dublin. Saturday night I went downtown to met up with the fire spinners that live around this city. I was hoping to jump in for a spin but alas the Police here are starting to really crack down on the local buskers. But I did have a good time watching them and chatting with the locals. It's absolutly unreal how many people are downtown on the weekends here. I thought week nights were busy but boy was I wrong. REALLY wrong, in certain parts the line-ups are going out onto the ... read more

We left London this morning. We took a train to Holyhead in Wales and then took a ferry across the Irish Sea to Dublin-late leaving but uneventful. Surprisingly, we landed at the Dublin port. We thought that we were going to land at another port and had booked an hotel close to it. Took a taxi to the Travelodge Hotel somewhere in Dublin but in the middle of nowhere. We are picking up our rental car tomorrow and driving to Galway.... read more

And so here I am in Dublin. But before I recount any tales from this city, the journey here must be described. Leaving Cousin Steve and the hard-working, hard-playing Soundsaver's crew in Lancaster, I struck out along a lovely stretch of smoothly tarmaced cycle path, which took me to a supermarket and then disappeared. Many of the cycle paths I've been on seem to be secret, only to be discovered by accident and when they are found there is no indication of where they are leading other than away from where I am coming from. I stocked up on cinnamon rolls, bananas and orange juice at the supermarket then headed for the sea, because I knew that when I found that I needed to turn right. Having found the sea and cycling along the front to ... read more

Well I've come to a final conclusion... I suck at this traveling thing. Yesterday morning I couldn't get my ass out of bed my hand instinctfully kept hitting the snooze button and before I knew it I had 3 hours before my plane left. Frantically I ran around the house throwing the last of what I needed for my trip praying to the organization gods that I had everything I needed and called a cab. I thought I had plently of time. THOUGHT being the operative word. Waiting.. waiting... waiting.. waiting.. just as I thought I should call them again the cab showed up. Once at the train station I'm positive I missed the train because the waiting game started all over again.... by this point I'm staring at the clock thinking.. I don't think I'm ... read more
