Well. We're here. And it's actually a lot better than even the high expectations i'd set for Dublin. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that the locals share down to their very core my basic philosophy of life, and that's something I find really refreshing. Some of the guys on the trip are fairly cool, and I lucked out that two of the coolest ones are my housemates, and we have a pretty sick setup by all accounts- though the jury is out until we move in tomorrow. Whatever the case, we're going to be in that nice halfway point between UCD and downtown Dublin that'll provide us with a unique view of the city compared to our less fortunate counterparts. Nick and I have been walking around having a great time, though most of ... read more

Tokyo-Dublin Flew from Brissie to Tokyo on Tuesday morning, the 22nd. Excited and eager to just be finally getting on the plane after so many months (years) of planning and dreaming.... Arrived that night and made the 50min train journey into Tokyo for a mere A$70 for both of us! Well worth it though, Tokyo is amazing. So cool. Wide sidewalks, clean streets, expensive cars, bright lights, designer shopping all in an Europe meets East feel. After a solid sleep we flew out the next morning for the 11hr and something flight to London. It was made easier through whiskey and coke, and our own tv screen. Kate (fellow Aussie in London) met us at the airport and helped us lug all our bags and boxes to her place for the night. Noticed the police with ... read more

This is going to be short because I'm still reeling in shock by how expensive Dublin is, which is saying something, given I've just come from pounds in Scotland to euros in Ireland. On my first day in the city I went out to a supermarket to buy a cheap sandwich for lunch only to find it was going to cost me the unholy sum of 6 euros. To put this in perspective, that's like pay $A10 for a chicken salad sandwich. The same sandwich that would have cost the equivalent of $A4 in Scotland! Okay, I realise I'm going on a bit much about sandwiches here, but come on now, seriously! But moving on, I'm not really sure about Dublin. Other than the muddy Liffy River and whole streets lined with pubs named O'something, Dublin ... read more

We made it!!! (After a very long and trying plane ride.) We left Saskatoon on Tuesday at 6:00am and didn't end up in Dublin until 8:00am on Wednesday. We had absolutely no sleep and had basically been up for 2 days. Therefore the first day in Dublin was a blur. We had a pint for breakfast, (as one of the Irish waitress's commented) We walked around the city most of the day and got to see all the beauty of Dublin. We went to sleep very early that night and woke up refreshed the next day. We went to Dublin Castle to get educated on Ireland. It helped out a lot. It is a beautiful castle. We then found a tattoo shop so I could get tattooed. I ended up spending a lot of money on ... read more

Hi all, Well after Paris we headed to Ireland.. I know you haven't seen the photos from Paris but they're on there way!! The most amazing thing about Ireland is it only takes an hour to get there from London- By the time you take off its time to land.. Fantastic.. Ireland was absolutely beautiful.. I loved it.. When i've had enough of London I think i'll head for Dublin.. Its a lovely city and the people are all really nice.. Theres loads of great pubs and heaps to see.. We stayed with Cherie's friends, Malcolm and Maria.. They were great hosts and we didn't want to leave(they're both Chefs!). We did a bit of sightseeing while we were there and one place we had to go was the Guinness Storehouse.. This is where they actually ... read more

Day 1 We headed to Dublin by train since our Eurails were still valid and we are seriously running out of money. Dublin is just as crowded and busy as I remember and it also reminded me why I didn't like the city the last time. But our hostel was fabulous and made up for it for the most part! We wandered around St. Stephens Green which was a really nice green space in the middle of the city. There was this cute baby duck who lost its mom and cried for a very long time. Another man went to get a park ranger because he was concerned for the little guy. It was really cute. We wandered around the shopping area and Temple Bar but decided on instant noodles for dinner instead. :) Amie Day ... read more

Hi everyone! Well Ireland was fantastic. We had a ball going out and touring around. Our hosts Maria and Malcolm made us feel very welcome and we cant wait to go back sometime. We had a tour of the city on our first day and then had a kip in Trinity College - we're not used to having sunshine anymore! Then we headed to a small Irish pub where we had a sing-a-long and a jig. Oh and of course some drinks! We toured the Guinness and Jameson distilleries and got a free drink at the end. The Jamesons tour was the best and Maria works there so that was even more exciting. Wayne tried to camp there but we dragged him back to the pub for more Whiskey instead. On Sunday Maria and Malcolm took ... read more

Hi all, More on the reason for this title later. Last time I wrote I had just arrived in Manchester. Not that long ago but again so much has happened in that time.# On Saturday I didn't make it to Old Trafford I did something even better. In the morning Yavi, Hannah and Danny's flatmate, took me into town and we walked around the old industrial area by the canals which has been turned into bars. Very nice area of town. Yavi is from Poland so found the next part of the day interesting. It was Pride Parade day in MAnchester. A gay and lesbian parade in the middle of the afternoon. Very colourful. But the best part of the day was going to the City of MAnchester Stadium to watch a football game between Manchester ... read more
