My husband and I live in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia. Having toured and lived in Australia extensively, we have now decided upon a trip to England Ireland Scotland and Wales and then on to Paris for 5 days. Having been before I'm looking forward to returning. My husband Laurie has never been, so very exciting for him and also for our eldest daughter Deborah who is accompanying us.

We have settled in at Hoi-an enjoying the beach and the food, the weather has been hot, really hot so activities have been limited to mainly swimming in the pool drinking cold beer and loving it. This morning we were up before the sun to watch a magnificent sunrise over the off shore islands, Edith had a ride on the beach cleaning machine, a very large and docile Buffalo, after a sumptuous brekky we visited the old town and did a Cyclo tour which included Temples, Pagodas and a tour of a silk factory which was very interesting. We came home on the pillion seat of a couple of motorbikes Edith,s first ever motorbike ride Tomorrow we are doing a cooking class learning the secrets of Vietnamese cooking so it looks like goobye roasts barbies and ... read more

Arrived in the ancient City of Hue this morning after a rather arduos 13 hour bus ride from Hanoi, you have to experience road travel here to beleive it, here it seems like just good luck if you arrive unscathed however we did. As we had not prebooked we found all flights and the train were booked out due to Vietnam holiday time, we just heard about the bed bus by chance and were lucky enough to get on it. the bed bus is just that, no seats just beds, we departed Hanoi at 9pm and arrived at Hue at 11am one stop for a Vietnam style breakfast only Leighanne was game to eat it. Have so far had a good time the people are wonderful the food interesting, crossing the road a challenge Ha Long ... read more

Well here we are back in London, we have travelled down the coast past the home of golf in Scotland and as I stood on the first tee at St. Andrews I was amazed to see a public path runs across the fairway, not far - about a five iron for me from the tee so you have to wait or yell at the crowd to hurry up but also a beautiful town. We crossed the border and saw Will Shakespeares home town, the city of York and again another place full of history and interesting old buildings. Our first night back in London we gathered at an old pub across the road from our hotel, only to discover it was owned bay an Aussie who joined us with his wife and we had a great ... read more

Just when you think you have seen it all the highlands of Scotland arrive, they are just magnificent, we have traveled up the west side accross the top and are now in Edinburugh. We traveled through through the highlands in typical Scottish weather, Scotch mist they call it, just added to the atmosphere and made it more awe inspiring. By ferry we travelled to the Isle of Skye where we stayed in a hotel that was built 600 years before OZ was discovered so old are these areas, back across the land bridge and down through the highlands past where the battle of Culloden took place - very sombre scene. We were entertained at a Scottish night and Deb got to follow the piper carrying the Haggis which we all then sampled not too bad in ... read more
