Looking for cliffs shown in Leap Year - the Movie
13 years ago, January 27th 2011 No: 1 Msg: #127476
We hope folks can help us pinpoint the location of cliff sites shown in the movie...
We suspect they are the Cliffs of Moher, but would like input from folks more familiar with Ireland's west coast geography... Reply to this

Hey Vince,

I think it is the cliffs of Moher.. I check on the web and found this website about the movie: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/34755159/ns/today-entertainment/

'the sunset finale at the Cliffs of Moher '

I guess it is the ones? Reply to this

Hi Vince I'm 99% sure it's not the Cliffs of Moher in the final scenes in Leap Year. I'm the manager of the visitor centre at the Cliffs and the film company approached us about filming Leap Year at the Cliffs alright but they didn't come back. It's possible they may have approached one of the landowners along the 8km of cliffs but having seen the movie I didn't recognise the place and I know the path along the cliffs pretty well. I think it might be cliffs on InisMor, the largest of the three Aran Islands which you can actually see from the Cliffs of Moher.

I saw the review that Christopher mentions and I think the reviewer just assumed it was shot at the Cliffs of Moher.

There've been loads of films shot at the Cliffs of Moher but I don't think Leap Year was one of them. Reply to this

We stayed in the Dingle Penninsula in 2009 and after seeing the movie...several times, we are convinved that they were near there. We saw several landmarks during the course of the movie that we believe are in that area but we did travel quite a bit throughout County Kerry as well so I couldn't get you closer that "near the Dingle Penninsula".
