We got up early this morning and caught the bus into town with our new American friends Dustin and Emily and met up with our group at Zoo station. The tour guide was actually an American as well, but had German parents and grew up speaking German. He is currently studying history at the Berlin Uni and has been living in the city for the past 6 years, so we were able to forgive his American accent. The walking tour was fantastic. It went for about 4 hours all around the city and he gave us some great insights on the city's history. We saw sights like the TV Tower - where the East Berliners tried to show their technological dominance over the West, only to need to get Swedish contractors in to actually do the ... read more

Die Fanta 4令兩大危機各出現一次小爆發,但又不得不買…… in köln, i saw on leaflet that Die Fantastischen Vier will held a live show on the day after i leave for hongkong, ok, forget it; in augsburg i saw on advertisement that there would be a concert i... read more

Leaving Luton, I was once again suspected of being a hooligan. Once through Luton security check, I was corralled by a police office into a line of brutish-looking blokes. I tried to pull out my most American of accents to seem too gullible and epicene to be a hooligan. Didn't work. We waited while a team of three officers equipped with laptops checked our background information. I had heard that anyone with a criminal record would not be allowed to travel to Germany. I had no fear that I would be granted passage. It was just an annoying formality that was actually necessary. Within a few minutes, the check was complete and I made it to the gate. The flight proceeded as normal as expected. Flying with Easyjet, you wonder how the flight attendants tolerate ... read more

Luxembourg While booking travel arrangements for the Mosel Valley, we realized that our destination was only 90 minutes away from Luxembourg City. A few extra hours of travel would allow us to add another country to the list, so Jer and I jumped on the opportunity. There was not a ton to see there, but the highlight was the caves, which were located on the border of the ruins of the old castle area. Other than the addition to the list of countries visited, Luxembourg City is probably worth a pass. Bernkastel-Kues One of my favorite wine regions in the world is the Mosel is southwestern Germany. It is primarily known for rieslings, and one of their most well known producers is Dr. Loosen, whose winery is located right next to Bernkastel. Since we did not ... read more

A friend asked me to tell her about the food in Germany, so I thought I'd write a blog about it and tell the whole world about the fascinating topic of German food. I do not eat pork or beef The above heading is more of a disclaimer than an announcement. Since I don't eat pork or beef, about 75% of the German diet is untested by me, and thus any statements made about it are pure observation. Stated otherwise, Germans eat a LOT of pork and beef. If you are a pig or a cow, you are not safe here. When we first came here, we spoke very little German. We had a German-English dictionary, but when you're pregnant (as I was) and hungry, you don't want to bother looking up every word on ... read more

I arrived in Munchen about 2:00pm on friday. I am glad that I finally got off from the Air Transat flight406. It could be the smallest seat ever. I don't want to get into the details here. But I kept thinking about the animals transfering in small cages with no space to move..... What a great idea to land in Munich. It makes things easier since I am staying with my friends, Jessica and Mitja. We went to a local beer garden. Basically it is an area in a park that you can drink, eat and watch the world cup. Well, the regular size beer is 1 Litre, they sell ribs, chicken wings and a full size of chicken. Very similar to superstore's BBQ chicken. Yep, I am asian and I can't drink. I had a ... read more

15th June Thursday The boys gave me their numbers and left for Munich on the train. I wasn’t sure what was the cheapest way to get there so I waited for Rowdy and Simon to investigate our options. The man that worked at FanCamp insisted I get a photo with him (!!!) and we headed to the trains. It ended up that train was actually our only option so we got a 5 day pass and we were on our way. When we arrived we met up with some of Rowdy’s mates and found some accommodation at 4You. It was complete luxury for me with our own bathroom. We checked out the main street and later on Rowdy and I got to properly catch up, although I think I talked his ears off. 16th June Friday ... read more

Well the World Cup is well and truly underway. Kristian, Anja and myself travelled to Munich for the opening match and, apart from being one of Germany's major cities anyway, was absolutely packed full of German football fans. The game was against Costa Rica and for every 10,000 German we saw 1 or 2 Costa Ricians. The weather up until that exact day had been less than perfect, infact in was downright cold but as if on cue it dramatically changed the day the world cup started. So bathed in sunshine we sailed down the autobahn towards Munich. Upon arriving we dropped the car at Sabine's house (she was at the time powerinf through a medical physiology exam) and caught the U-Bahn in to the city centre. People everywhere. We went to the English gartens for ... read more
