This day was a sleep in sort of day. We had stayed p until 2:00 am....we just couldn't wind down after our private tour around Paris......AND in that car!!!! We were looking forward to breakfast at our hotel. We'd already had the croissants! It was a typical breakfast complete with meats, cheeses, delicious breads, yogurt,. cereal, fruit, and nutella. Europeans love their nutella. You will find it everywhere! Following breakfast we headed our to get Shealyn in Louie Vuitton. There was such a long line there yesterday, we didn't get in the door. There was still a line today although much shorter. Shealyn so wanted to buy something in that store. The thing we could find was the perfume but it was still too much. Shealyn thought it was $150 but that was the refill price. ... read more

Today started out early.....first at 3:00 (I set my alarm wrong), then at 4:30 (we had to get to the Eurostar early for security, passport, and boarding. We had been to the terminal last night and saw the crowds and long lines. A policeman said to be there no later than 5:30 (7:01 departure time), so that's what we did. We hated to leave our cute hotel room, but off we went dragging our luggage, or at least part of it, to the train station. This station was beautiful inside and out. We were shocked to find that there weren't as many people as we thought since ours was only the 2nd train of the day. We got through security with no problem. Passport control was really just a stamp your passport and go situation. We ... read more

So we landed in Heathrow about 20 minutes late, which wasn't bad since we left NYC about 50 minutes late. The flight was uneventful after our run to make the gate. The food was good....not delicious but good for plane food. Shealyn says she didn't sleep but II did for several hours. I watched one of my favorite movies...Life is Beautiful. Nanci Bowen, it made me think of you..............Buongiorno principessa!!!! We disembark the plane and heard through customs which was incredibly easy. Off we went to the baggage claim. I have a Delta app on my phone that lets me know when my luggage is loaded, as well as other alerts pertinent to my flights. So I get a message that my luggage is being loaded on the carousel. Sure enough luggage starts coming around. We ... read more

So we’re off on another adventure, Shealyn, Marsha, and me! This is about the 6th trip we have taken together! We feel We’re pretty good travel buddies by now! Our adventure started our after a very busy Saturday for me….family reunion at my house, St Mary’s Community Band concert in Paden City, late night trip to Pittsburgh airport! Our driver was Terry Wilson and the navigator was Shealyn’s husband, Kyle Sandy. Kyle had his phone settings on avoid tolls, so we had able interesting ride on a country road much like Sellers Road. We had several laughs with Terry complaining, My niece, Jennifer Hedrick Moore, has spoiled me for Pittsburgh hotel stays…..she took me to the Hyatt which is attached to the airport. It is so convenient! So our first night was at the Pittsburgh Hyatt, ... read more

Breakfast this morning was to be provided by Wyndham Resorts at our sales pitch. When we got there we were told no coffee because of Covid. Now anyone who knows Terry Wilson knows he needs a cup of coffee to get started each day. I must say he behaved very nicely on only juice. I was hoping this would be short. As soon as we sat down I told the salesman we really weren’t interested in making any kind of purchase, we were only interested in the gifts. He did cut his presentation somewhat short and we were in our way in about an hour. First up was to find a cup of coffee. McDonalds to the rescue!!! We found the McDonalds right around the corner from The Alamo. We then headed off to The Alamo. ... read more

Breakfast at the La Quinta was the best. It was like any other hotel breakfast but, just like any other kid, I LOVED the waffle maker. The waffles were in the shape of Texas! I want a waffle maker that makes waffles in the shape of WV!! We didn’t have as far to travel today, which was refreshing after our long travel day yesterday. This part of Texas was a mostly flat, farming community At one point it was flat and as far as you could see and on both sides of the road were wind turbines. I have never, ever seen so many. I tied to capture it on the camera but you just had to be here!! Getting to San Antonio was easier than we expected. There wasn’t a lot of traffic and it ... read more

Following breakfast at IHOP, we headed out toward San Antonio. Our goal was Sweetwater, Tx where we planned to spend the night. It was an ambitious goal as it was a 9 hr 10 min drive. That really doesn’t sound too bad but when you factor in pit stops, meals, and traffic it can be a long day. Plus Terry Wilson likes to do all the driving. I do love watching the scenery as we drive along. Sometimes it feels like we’re driving along in West Virginia but most of the time it’s so much different. Today’s drive started out with the mountains and rocks of Colorado, then the dry desert-like fields of New Mexico. Once we got into Texas it was the story of two sides of the car, again. On one side there were ... read more

Today was going to be a big day. We were driving from Kanab, Utah to Avon, Colorado. It was a 9 hour drive but we had several stops we wanted to make. Plus we are older…. We have to get out of the car and stretch our legs, give our backs a break , and go potty!! I just can’t get over how beautiful the scenery is in this country!! Landforms change around nearly bend. First stop Glen’s Canyon bridge and reservoir. The water level was low and the bridge reminded us of a small New River Gorge Bridge. Certainly glad we stopped. Next stop was the Navajo visitor Center at Monument Valley. They had some of the cleanest public restrooms we’ve seen on this trip. I loved the way their picnic tables were decorated. Today’s goal was the North Rim Of the Grand Canyon. While we’d visited there 2 years ago, it was late in the afternoon and we had a limited amount of time. The drive from Kanab was beautiful. As usual we looked for any sign of wildlife but didn’t see any. To go to the National Parks cost about $35.00 a car. Several years ago when Terry and I were climbing the Currituck lighthouse, the attendant said to us, “If it wouldn’t hurt your feelings, I’d tell you that you look old enough to buy the seniors National Park pass for only $10.00.” (We’d already paid $10.00 to climb the lighthouse). We told her we were sure we were old enough and bought the passes. We certainly have made our money back multiple times. Karen and Ed ... read more

After checkout, We were headed to Pahrump, NV to have breakfast with our friends John and Jennifer Trunk. It was a nice leisurely breakfast as none of us had a long travel day in front of us. We still can’t get over that we ended up in the same place at the same time so many miles from home. We headed to Kanab and as we entered Utah we found a visitors center. So we got off the Interstate and pulled In the parking lot. A car pulled along side of us and the people were waving. We Got out and heard “Let’s Go Mountaineers!” The young man was a 1999 graduate of WVU and saw our WV plate and followed us just to Cheer on a fellow mountaineer! After he and his wife left, Ed ... read more
