Packing everything up, last minute shopping, and of course double checking to make sure passport and Covid records are in the backpack takes more time then I thought. The walk back from the gym was slow and relaxed because I had already started organizing last night. This trip, not even many bruises, and no bad injuries like a broken toe on the last trip. Mostly small bruises, a few scrapes and brush burns from the pads and sparring. I took a last minute trip to Terminal 21 and found they had sort of a food festival on the main floor today. Lots of good things, but I can’t take that food on the airplane. Too bad because the ANA meals on the way over were not good. Fortunately tonight’s flight leaves at 9:30 and arrives in ... read more

Today is it, once again. Made it through 19 sessions so far with the last to go in about an hour. Breakfast at 6:05 and I have the place to myself. I’ll be a little later to the gym because I need a few minutes to stretch. Not as sore as expected, but still feeling it a bit. Nice sunrise to greet the last trip. Forgot to mention, but yesterday I got to enjoy doing 20 kicks on each leg in one of the rounds. Woohoo!! it was a bit of a quiet morning at the gym. Today is Fahlaep’s birthday so I have him a piece of chocolate cake, and then hit the running route while he worked a couple of the other guys on the pads. I intentionally took it a bit slower, not ... read more

Once again, rain last night, but wake up to a nice clear morning. It’s fortunate the weather works this way.. I’m not sure that I would be motivated enough to jump rope for 30+ minutes. Somehow it’s easier to run here than jump. When I got to the gym, even a few minutes later than usual, I saw the gate was still closed, which was different. Assuming everything was ok, I slipped in and dropped my gear to go run my 10 laps. On the second lap, the gate was open and movement was seen. It was a hard run after expending a ton of energy in yesterdays sessions. Everyone seemed a bit slow this morning. Training started with 2 rounds on the bag, just to get loosened up. There were two pad rounds, working combinations, ... read more

Two and a half days, 5 training sessions to go. Had to remember that when I woke up this morning because I was sore everywhere. Knee is a little sore, and a cramp in left thigh, probably from sparring yesterday. Really wanted to sleep more, but got up and stretched a little and started to feel better. A quick breakfast and more stretching and I should be good to go. My shoes are still wet from yesterday. The wet shoes from the rain yesterday aren’t too different from after the run/jumprope combinations each day. Running was again 10 laps, and I think I’m going to stay with that. Seems a good amount of time for me to run, about 35 or 40 minutes. Haven’t really watched the clock on that too much. We’re back to the ... read more

It’s amazing how the time is rapidly passing. Just about 3.5 days and 7 training sessions left this week. Skipped breakfast because I was so sore. Not sure if it was the weighted jumprope or the more aggressive sparring from yesterday, but my legs feel like I have cement shoes on. Today, the sun is fully blazing and the run is going to be especially difficult, I’m afraid. The gym is back to being quiet. I think the one early guy has come and gone already because Fahlaep is already sweating. Ran 10 laps, and the endorphins didn’t kick in until lap 3. It was a tough one. Jumprope was 15 minutes with my sissy leather rope. I’ll borrow Rune’s crossrope in the afternoon. I was still too sore to deal with that. Today must be ... read more

Slept very well last night. Seems I was tired from my day off…. Woke up to the alarm and wished I had more time to sleep. Needed a little stretch before breakfast, and made it a quick stop for some fruit and coffee. I’m surprised I’ve held up so well with all the running. I hadn’t been doing much at home because of the heat/humidity, but now it’s twice a day, no problem. Walked out the door this morning and found it was sprinkling and it lasted the entire train ride. It stopped as I got off the train platform, so it was off to 10 laps of running. Quiet morning at the gym today, and I ran by myself. It actually felt really good after the muscles loosened up during the first lap. A couple ... read more

Rest day, I can use it. It’s not just sit around and sleep day though. Today it’s trying to finish up any shopping because I’m too tired during the week to do it, or it’s raining in the evening. Got to breakfast late, and it was almost standing room only. Quite the difference from my normal 6:00 time when I’m about the only one there. Decided to take a walk down some of the streets I’ve not been on before. They're all very similar except Sunday morning when it’s all still very quiet. Even the taxi drivers aren’t that pushy at 8:30 in the morning. The walk was about an hour and the plan is for a light workout in the hotel gym with weights. Haven’t really lifted any since leaving Savannah. I’m sure I won’t ... read more

I just couldn’t bring myself to walking to some of the restraints because they were farther than I had the energy for. It rained again during the night, but I only saw lightning flashes form the comfort of the bed. I was sooooo exhausted. I think I was asleep by 9:00 and didn’t wake up until 3 minutes before the alarm at 5:30. Not as sore as I was expecting to be this morning. It did seem to take awhile to gather up everything and hit breakfast. There’s definitely a difference in the activity on Saturday morning. Not nearly as many street vendors, or motorbikes and taxis flying all over the place. The interesting thing this morning was at the bottom of the steps of the BTS station, I was yelled at by a homeless woman ... read more

MORNING: Woke up a little early today after a great, uninterrupted night of sleep. yesterdays workout was completely exhausting and I’m feeling it now. Everything is really sore. Not from getting hit, but I guess just the extra rounds in the afternoon. The legs are really tight, so the extra few minutes were spent on stretching and getting a little loose. Decided to head in a bit earlier so I could get all the running in and try and avoid a backlog of us waiting on padwork. The day looks very nice, and I did 9 laps today, followed by 10 minutes of rope. The running is about 30-35 minutes. Just a couple of random statements…. It’s 90 or 91 steps from the ground to the BTS platform. Doesn’t seem like much early in the day, ... read more

The afternoon is looking bleak right now. I was caught out in a monster rainstorm when I went to the local market. Unfortunately the one that was in the hotel are is turned into a 7-11 so it’s a bit of a walk. Stood outside and watched the rain. The motorbikes and food delivery guys just kept on going. They were splashing through the puddles that were really deep. After about 30 minutes, it slowed enough to escape back to the hotel without getting too wet. Its getting brighter so it looks like I’ll head out to train. If it’s a thunderstorm drenching downpour, I’ll have to skip the trip. There is alot of walking uncovered that will just make the travel back and forth miserable. Of course the rain really starts pouring once I’m at ... read more
