Happy runner?
Yes, because it’s over for the morning. You can tell it’s going to be a tough day when after running and jumprope, you need to wring out your socks and creat a huge pool of sweat. Two and a half days, 5 training sessions to go. Had to remember that when I woke up this morning because I was sore everywhere. Knee is a little sore, and a cramp in left thigh, probably from sparring yesterday. Really wanted to sleep more, but got up and stretched a little and started to feel better. A quick breakfast and more stretching and I should be good to go. My shoes are still wet from yesterday. The wet shoes from the rain yesterday aren’t too different from after the run/jumprope combinations each day. Running was again 10 laps, and I think I’m going to stay with that. Seems a good amount of time for me to run, about 35 or 40 minutes. Haven’t really watched the clock on that too much. We’re back to the two other ”regulars”, but one new guy showed up early today. People seem to come and go. Probably they gym couldn’t handle many more people without another trainer. When there are 4 people waiting for pads, and if everyone does 4 to 5 rounds, the last guy could be pretty exhausted if he’s working the heavy bag while waiting. I was first in the ring
Champion Jomhod
Had to make sure I got a couple pictures with Jomhod. The guy on the left is Rune, the one who’s been training along side me day for day. after the new guy and had the video camera going after the second round. Four rounds this morning, with the final just being boxing. Shoulders aren’t quite as tired as when I started last week, but it is nice when the punching is done. Again today were series of 10 everything. In the pad rounds, there were 10 kicks a few times. No knees, so I’m sure that will be this afternoons present.
On the way back to the hotel, from the BTS station, a cab driver saw the Muay Thai shorts and said hello, and asked if I remembered him. He said he remembers taking us in his taxi up to Soi 101 where the gym is. That was a long time ago…. While I’m writing, I see people coming down from the Muay Thai training here at the hotel. Nobody is sweating buckets, or walking very slowly, or anything that is a result of training at Eminent Air. I did peak my head in to their training last weekend, out of curiosity. It’s a very basic class, at least the one I saw. They had 7 or 8 people there and most of them were being shown
Jomhod
Just another of the few that were taken. I wanted to get some today while the weather was good. There’s only 3 more training sessions, and Jomhod has been doing the afternoons. how to throw a punch. There were a couple trainers working with them, but I didn’t see much intense training going on.
This afternoon the gym was packed! The new guy from the morning was there again, along with the two regulars, Martinez and Rune, and the guy from Singapore. Also one guy from last week showed up again today. And Jomhod was there to work out again. He posted a video on Facebook and there I am jumping rope in the background.with all the activity, and one trainer, we did a lot of sparring. Some of the guys don’t run, or maybe have run before I show up so they worked with Fahlaep first. A couple guys sparred, boxing only, in the second ring while I went through 3 pad rounds. Didn’t record those because of the potential of the camera falling off the corner post. The ropes are a little loose and the posts move a bit. The first two rounds were standard combinations, and the third was mostly boxing. There were a lot of knees today, and just like previous days, it really tires you out. Well, it tires me out anyway. After I was exhausted
Ice cream truck.
Had the bells and songs playing just like in the US. He even came back around either thinking we could use some ice cream, or just to watch the action in the gym. from that, it was sparring time with Singapore. I think we did 4 rounds today. I managed to get hit with a couple kicks in the same place as yesterday, so there’s a big old charley horse in my left thigh right now. I also managed to only partly block a very low kick, if you know what I mean….. it was a pretty tiring day. This was the first time that when I was sitting down in the bleachers, I started to get light-headed. No comments required here. After composing myself, the walk to the BTS was slower than this morning for sure, even though the rain clouds were building. Got to the hotel and the rain must have started 10 minutes later. Thankful for making it back without being rain soaked again. Tomorrow is the last double day. Time to rest to make it through!!
