Sweat Equity…
That’s from the relatively short jump rope session today. Even taking the picture, the sweat was just dripping off my arms like a leaky faucet. Packing everything up, last minute shopping, and of course double checking to make sure passport and Covid records are in the backpack takes more time then I thought. The walk back from the gym was slow and relaxed because I had already started organizing last night. This trip, not even many bruises, and no bad injuries like a broken toe on the last trip. Mostly small bruises, a few scrapes and brush burns from the pads and sparring.
I took a last minute trip to Terminal 21 and found they had sort of a food festival on the main floor today. Lots of good things, but I can’t take that food on the airplane. Too bad because the ANA meals on the way over were not good. Fortunately tonight’s flight leaves at 9:30 and arrives in Tokyo at 6 in the morning. I’m hoping to sleep that whole flight. I do have a painful 11 hour layover in Tokyo. I have a book to read and both computers are charged so maybe when I get really bored I’ll start doing some work. The flight from Tokyo leaves at 5:45 in the evening, so another sleep on the plane scenario. Maybe
Rune from Denmark
Rune showed up a couple days after me and was training twice a day also. It was good to meet him and spend some time running together and talking. that will make the trip seem not as long. Should be back in Savannah by 9:30pm Saturday night. Sure hope they can align there flights better in the future. Eleven hours for a layover is going to be difficult.
I’m glad I left a lot of time to get to the airport. Previously when we left, it was very late at night and there was no traffic, either on the roads or at the front desk. Seems 4:30 in the afternoon is a prime time for tour groups from either India/Pakistan/Bangladesh to check in. After clearing the checkout, it took some time to get a taxi. Now I’m on the road at, you guessed even more rush hour than usual for Bangkok. Luckily, I left plenty of time and had everything ready even sooner than planned. No stress. There was lots of sitting around, and the taxi driver and everyone else uses the emergency lane/shoulder as just another lane of traffic. Arrived at the airport, checked in, dropped the bags and found my way to the courtesy Lounge. They had some good food here, mostly veggies, but the stir fry was enjoyable. Gotta hide some drinks in
Fahlaep
He’s certainly a character. And he really put me through my paces this trip. I think he’s the fourth different trainer I’ve had. All of them different, and all of them great! He seemed like he had a good time sparring with me. Probably because he always won! the carryons as I’ll be stranded in Tokyo all day tomorrow. Not sure why all the pictures don’t show up in the post. Looks like there is are pictures that are included but not shown. Hope you’ve seen them all.
I’m pretty sure I got just about everything I wanted to get out of this trip. It’s hard to balance training and sightseeing. I want to train as much as possible because I don’t get here often, but also want to look around for the same reason. It was also good to meet so many people from other countries who trained at the gym. That also made it more enjoyable and not feeling totally alone. Ok, thats all I have to say for this trip. Time to head towards the gate and settle in for a 7 hour flight to Tokyo. So long to The Land of Smiles!
