First thing to notice about Norway is how expensive everything is. Take a beer from back home for example, about $3.50 maybe but over here for the same thing it is around $15 or more.. I am not even going to try and work out how much meat is by the kilo more than doulbe from back home though.. Other than the prices in Norway it is just awsome. I flew into Bergen on the West Coast and this city is supposed to get 275 days of rain a year but I lucked it and the three I was there was very hot actually so made for some great hiking around the mountains. The city is right on the water and it is pretty much surrounded by mountains. It doesn't seem like a really big city ... read more

In Copenhagen I didn't really get up to much at all, did tonnes of walking around the city and thats about it mostly. Just did all the touist things, museums, Princess Mary's Pallce (go Tasmanians), the old buildings and of course the Little Mermaid. Yes this is the place the little mermaid was invented and a nice walk out the city will take you to the jamed packed area with tourists (moetly Chinese) to see the statue. The most interesting Museum would have been the 'Resistance' Museum and how Denmark made there resistance durung the 2nd World War. Really we found out that all Denmarks reststance lasted two hours and the country was taken over by the Germans and during the war it was small groups just vandelising train rails, cars or factories. We had a ... read more

Heading back down south more and the next city on the stop is Orebro. Pretty much a uni city and where I was staying in the middle of it all really and since it was the first week for the new year here in Sweden it is party time! I still managed to have a good look around the city though and the old castle that looks like it is floating on water would have to be the hightlight of this place. Another highlight would have to been to foreign exchange students trying to make this cake where I was staying. All the exchange students from the uni are put in grounps of around 8 and are set chanenges and this night was cake making night. The dude of the couple that I was staying with ... read more

It was going to happen sooner rather than latter, our lack of pre booking caught up with us on our first night in Stockholm. We had already had a massive day of travel which started at 4am and we finally got to get some sleep at 1am the following day.. It was going to happen though since we have been pushing or luck quite a bit and when we go to Stockholm we were walking around for 5 hours trying to find a place to stay at and it turned out to be the very last place we went to before the park was our place for the night.. So we had a sleep in the next moring before heading into the city, our first thoughts of this city is that we both could see our ... read more

We certainly had a interesting time in this country! Worst train trip I have ever been on, getting a stupid fine, scared about not been aloud into and or out of the country, stuffing ourselves with food, stuffing ourselves with beer and paying the next day like I have never before and also relaxed in the two most layed back cities that I may ever been to Szeged and Pecs. Our first stop was Budapest though and our first night we were hosted out of the city a little and it was a gret night! We ended up drinking this local stuff, like scnaps, the name though Crazy will know and what ever it was it was very strong! 80-90% stuff! Out the back of there place they have a barrel of it with a tap ... read more

A quick update for our time in Belgrade and I must say we didn't get up to much at all really.. To tell you the truth we didn't think that it was a very nice place at all Belgrade. The buildings were not the best and really grey although there were a couple of very nice buildings to be seen! When walking through the city we came across a few bombed out buildings that were quite interesting to see and in front of one of them there was a protest going on and they were after money they are owed from the 99 NATO was. That is the kind of city it is Belgrade but our hostel was awsome though! Free beer and spirits in a hostel was a real surprise! Also the food there is ... read more

A little update since we only had two days in this place before we moved onto Belgrade.. Well we wish we had stayed longer in Sarajevo even though it is only a tiny city for the capital of a country. The bus trip from Dubrovnik was spectular going over mountains, along cliffs and into deep valleys but the best part of the trip was the stop over we made along the way. We have not really been eating any meat when travelling since it is eith to expensive or to hard to find a place to cook but in Bosnia it is the best! This place we stopped at had 12 spit roasts on the go and some how we managed to get a massive roll of meat each and it was the best! Just imagine ... read more

Europe » Croatia » Dalmatia » Dubrovnik August 12th 2008

I think we have just headed through paradise for the last nine dazys! Croatia is simply an amazing place to go and relax and have a good party! Our first stop was Split on the coast and after the worst 18 hour train trip from Budapest we were very glad to arrive on the coast. We only spent one night there in Split though and kept a low profile since was very tired from the train and our time in Budapest was very hectic and was rushing around so not much happened. Pretty much though we headed to the beach right up and hit the best waters I have ever come across! Sooo warm and clear we could beleive it! If only Tassie waters were the same! One thing that I forgot to warm Crazy man ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Western Australia July 29th 2008

My best friend René and I decided have a crazy trip around Western Australia. We had a summer holiday so it was best time to go to Australia. We bought return tickets to Perth, but we didn’t plan what we do or how we’ll travel there. We knew that we´ll spend four weeks in Western Australia and our plans were to make to Darwin. Couchsurfing? Tents? Hostels? Hm, we’ll notice there where we´ll live :) Two students - cheapest accommodation and we take what we get. We arrived in cold Perth and I couldn´t understand that it is Australia. You know, I have seen Australia in TV and it is warm country, but know it was +6 when in Sweden was +25. How crazy it is? :) First days we spend in absolute freezing Perth and ... read more

Europe » Spain » Valencian Community » Valencia July 27th 2008

Our time here in Spain is soon coming to an end! Three more nights then we are heading to Eastern Europe for a few months so going to be quite different to here! We are not going to miss the heat of this place though with everyday about 40deg and stinking hot! The city´s we have visited since the last update, Seville, Granada and Valincia have been fantastic places. Saville was by far the hottest place and the siesta´s were really getting a work over there! Everyone here in Spain has then between 2 and 6 and the towns become a ghost town except for the tourists still struggling around the place. There happened to be a festival on when in Seville and we went there on a Wednesday so thought that it was going to ... read more
