It is to hot over here! We have left Portugal now and in Spain and yesterday it was hitting 43deg in Saville where we are now so very hot. Well Portugal was pretty much the same heat but no way as bad so was heaps easier for sightseeing. We covered pretty much North to South in the week we had there starting in Porto up the North end. I seemed to be a very old city with all narrow streets and we got lost plenty of times wandering around this place. All the citys in Portugal seem to be very hilly but it made for some great views though of the city from the other side of the river exp when the sun was setting having a couple of beers. We preferred this city more the ... read more

We survived the bull run! It was a fantastic, tiring couple of days but completly worth it! I´ll mention what we got up to in Madrid first, not much at all really! Coming from Scotland where it had been raining and windy the whole time and hitting 38 Deg it was just exhusting for us two! The first day there we were buggered from the travels getting to Spain so we just foud a park and had a siesta for a few hours to get out of the midday heat. Still we had plenty of time to have a look around the city that afternoon and the next day and on the whole there wasn´t to much to see in the city. I have heard that it can be quite boring on the eye but the ... read more

So your maybe wondering what am I doing naked on my bike infront of Big Ben hey? Well a few weeks ago I heard about a bike ride in London that takes place for safety awarness for bike riders but didn't know when and where (or that u were naked) so just forfot about it. Then last weekend a lad fro work came in and mentioned that he was in Brighton for the weekend and seen people riding around the city nude for some bike thing. I thought that could have been it and it could have been in London last weekend as well and that I had missed it so no worrys, that was the first time i found out that it was a naked ride as well. Last Saturday heading home from work I ... read more

Back into the London life now just after a month has ticket past.. Got a great place to live in which is close to the city centre, the suburb is called Acton and on the bike it is 15 minutes to the centre of town so quite good. Yeah have the bike again and having near death experiences all the time once again. Na it is good fun cruising around the streets and having a look at the place, much better than travelling on the underground I think anyway. The people that I am living with are from all over the world, one Turkish (chef who likes to cook at home and cooks too much, good for me), Italian and two Cambodians so an international house it is. I have seen the girls from Cambodia twice, ... read more

Europe » Greece » Attica » Athens December 22nd 2007

It has been quite awhile since I finished up on our travels and what I am doing now but it has been difficult to get near a computer. Still a little to go in Greece and that is it for our trip and need to go back to Ancient Olympia where the old Olympics were held between 776 BC and 394 AD. It is mainly ruins there now but some of the place is still standing and the main arena is quite easy to see. When each games was held over the 1169 years a sacred truce was put in place so all the wars stopped so that the games would be able to go ahead and back then some one was at war all the time. At the beginning they only lasted for one day ... read more

It was all about relaxing on the Islands for us as our trip was winding down and that’s exactly what we did. It is quite hard to keep busy on the Islands this time of year anyway with it the low season and all well it was more like the dead season as there was know one around at all so we had whole beaches for ourselves which was fine by us. The weather was not as warm as it could be but we were still getting around in shorts and did some swimming in the crystal clear waters still so was very nice. Our first Island we went to was called Syros and were there for three nights. When we arrived of our ferry we were greeted by a few hotel owners trying to get ... read more

Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome November 28th 2007

There is an unbeleivable amount of history in Rome and to learn about it we needed another week to just scratch the surface. It is really a magnificant city and we tried to do as much as we could but think we got to do the main things. I could mention all the different churches, plazzas and statues but that will take forever so just check out the photos for them but will mention our favourites over the three days. Of course the Colosseum was the first thing that we went and had a look at. Built in 72 AD, the only thing added later was the cellars underneath the floor to hold the animals in. 80,000 people could fit in but only men for some reason were allowed to watch the events. It is still ... read more

I can tell you that the food is just magnificant here in Italy! We have had a wonderful time tasting all the different things as we travel further south through this country and of course seeing all the famous landmarks along the way. The last city that we were in before our last blog was Florence, this place is more like an outdoor museum than anything else with a massive square containing famous statues of David and Hercules plus many other famous people from the Roman times. Of course once again here we went to another Aperitiuo with our host and they seem to get better and better as we travel through Italy. The amount of food, and good quality, is unbeleivable for free and all you have to do is buy a drink and you ... read more
