Hei Norge!

So the past couple of days it has rained a little which means the tanning mission has to be put on hold. But there has been multiple games of cards. Still in Samui and had a fun packed day a few days ago. We rented a car and went to a waterfall where we could swim in the small drop pool at the bottom. Absolutely beautiful, right next to the forest. We then went to a place where there was two baby elephants one a few months old and the other only a couple of weeks. They were the sweetest things I have ever seen up close. They kept sucking their trunks like a human baby would their thumb. The smell was hideous though. Worse than when farmers spray fields. I would even suggest it was ... read more

Hello!!! We are now in Koh Samui it took a taxi, a night train, a bus, a boat and another bus in total 20 hours to get here. Very tiring but totally worth it!! Koh samui is such a lovely island and completely different to Bangkok it is very chilled out and relaxed plus the beach is amazing!! The night train was brilliant it was so comfortable and felt really safe although I didnt manage to get too much slep as it was a bumpy ride haha!! Michael did manage to get a good nights sleep though. When we first got to our hostel we got into the room and they didn't have air con even though it was advertised as having it. We had booked two nights there but there was no way we could ... read more

The last 6 months have seen us have some bad luck with flights – one flight, in November, had us abort a landing where the wings of the plane were literally touching the tops of the palm trees below. At the very last minute the plane pulled back up and re-attempted the approach from a different direction. However, this latest piece of bad luck when we were on our way to Bangkok was something we have never experienced in all our years of travelling. We have to admit, we were a little bit scared! We were super-excited to be travelling to Bangkok as we were meeting Donna’s parents for their annual holiday, excited as well because this was her parents first time to Koh Samui. Everything went smoothly getting to the airport and we took off ... read more

Hello friends, We made it to Ko Samui after a very long time of travelling and i genuinely never thought I would make it. But it is well worth it! The boat ride was amazing and views looked unbelievable. Just looked like something out of a magazine! We have now made new friends. So I dont have to solely put up with Jimbo anymore. New friends are from Bournemouth Stacey and Darryl. They have been really helpful and are willing to show us round the island tomorrow. Been just chilling today on the little grass area i front of our room. I am severely burnt and been bitten far too many times for my liking but ill get over it. Tomorrow we are going travelling round the island after we hired a car. Go to see ... read more

We arrived at the Samui Native Resort & Spa extremely tired and in Rosaras case, very grumpy after our 31hour journey from Hanoi. Andy the owner and his wife made us feel at home though and the place was really good. The pool looked like heaven in this heat. We waited a while for our room to be ready then were taken on a tour by Andy who showed us our room and our even bigger bathroom. It was bigger than some of the hotels we had stayed in! We chucked our stuff in and went straight to the pool which was orgasmic. It was the hottest day so far on our trip and we could hear the water sizzling on the floor when it dripped off us. We spent 5days here after originally only booking ... read more

We left the hotel at 5.20am as we had a lift booked to the airport on the other side of the lake at 5.40. The night before we had paid our bills because we knew we were checking out really early. When we tried to leave though the guy on reception who Rosara woke up must have been grumpy and tried to charge us again, and also tried to charge us for laundry we never had. I wish we did have laundry because my socks were starting to pong and it would of saved this argument. After 15mins of arguing we finally cleared the hotel but were never going to make our lift now so we had to flag a taxi down and rush to the place. Obviously the lift never left on time and we ... read more

I do love Thailand. Loved it so much, went a 2nd time earlier this year. The difference btw the 1st trip that took place in Jan 2010 vs. the recent trip was how much of Thailand I saw vs. staying on 1 island. 1st trip consisted of island hopping btw Phuket, Phi Phi island, Krabi, Koh Sumui and of course visited capital city, Bangkok. There was a lot of movement on boats and airplane flights. On this trip, the most memorable was Koh Sumui for me, so memorable that the 2nd trip to thailand was only about Koh Sumui. Most of the pics on this blog are a combo from 1st and 2nd trip. Though I still loved Koh Sumui with its calm beautiful waters, gorgeous and breathtaking scenery, I was a little bored on the ... read more

We travelled to Koh Samui on Thursday, the ferry was much quicker barely seemed like we were on it any time at all! We spent the day on the beach, sun bathing, after all the activities on Koh Phangan it was good to just have a bit of time relaxing, not doing much, just soaking up the sun! I went for a little stroll up the beach to see what is around this was the first time I had any time by myself and it was nice and peaceful. Later we went for food, all the restuarants here seemed a lot more up market compared to what we have been used to in Thailand so far. We ended up at a pretty posh looking place - the kind where they put a napkin on your lap ... read more

Ok I’m just going to be honest we really didn’t like Koh Samui….. We stayed on Chaweng Beach, it’s the main beach on the island and you can see why as it is nice and there are a few waves etc. but it’s just too touristy. The second day we moved to a nicer place to sleep for not too much more money called the Loft. It was nice, more like a hotel and we needed that because we hadn’t much time for the town! The beach strip is around 7km long and it is taken over by resorts. Parallel to the beach is the main road which is again lined for the whole strip with tourist shops/bars/restaurants and is bustling with every westerner possible roaming the streets on their rented scooter or minivans doing collections ... read more
