Ao Nang and Ao Nang to Koh Samui Friday 23 December On the move again after our brief stay in Ao Nang. Arrived on Wed evening and picked up from ferry in open cattle truck for transfer to guest house. Ao Nang is another seaside town but is a gateway for access to the Islands of the coast. Booked in then had a walk out during the evening running the gauntlet of Hey Mr, u want massage or u want suit made, very cheap. They do sell a T shirt that states in plain English no i don’t want a f........... Massage or ..............suit, must get one i think. I diverse, we had supper at a street side road stand, me trying the Tomyum, spicy soup with shrimp and Sue, Shrimp and noodle’s. It was ok ... read more

When we arrived at our resort, I was over the moon...nice little bungalow on the beach...looked lovely, from the outside and in the we dumped our bags and went out for dinner as predictably i was STARVING! We asked the hotel manager where was good to eat and he recommended there was a nice fish restaurant just 300m down the road so we followed his advice and it lead us to a corregated iron shed on the corner of a main road! interesting experience to say the least...made even more special by the random dogs coming in to greet you off the street and the monsoon rain which soon followed, soaking us on the way was still 30 odd degrees so i didnt mind so much. When we returned to our delightful little bungalow ... read more

Associations with Ko Samui: stray dogs, stray bulls, good food, Egyptians, Swedes, genital shaped rocks, angry men on mopeds, sand that burns your feet, the most comfortable hostel I've ever stayed in, partying, massaaaaaage, Ladin. The journey from Railay to Ko Samui was shite. The bus centre we'd booked the transfer at promised us a six hour journey consisting of a speed boat an a/c mini bus and a ferry to Ko Samui. What we found were four different cramped mini/buses with very little a/c and long waits on the side of motorways (one of the stops even had an motionless old man sleeping in a double bed next to the booking office - mental.) The Thai transport system is slow and disorganised and it needs a massive revamp. I'm getting better at recognising lady boys, ... read more

Pre Pre Party on Koh Pagnan Beach... Glow paint galore, pumping music and lots of foam!! met some Italians who had no idea what we were saying, lads from Birmingham, who used our UV paint to cover themselves in it, painted blue paint on a bald headed guy who ended up looking like a smurf! danced to a bit of hey macarena. Overall a great night on the beach! :D Today we struggled to get up at 10am for brekkie and climbed straight back to bed afterwards! woke up went tanning on the beach and had a chilled time relaxing.... weathers gorgeous, sunny and hot but now disappeared into the clouds. Bring on TONIGHT, and the next two days to come! ... read more

Once we had left Matt we boarded our boat and started our 2 and a half hour jouney to Koh Samui. Koh Samui is the largest of the 3 islands in the group. It is the most populated and the most popular with tourists. Following the pattern we have set we had no idea where our hotel was when we got off the boat but luckily Sue had arranged for us to be picked up and taken to our accomodation - The Loft. What would have done without you Sue? ! The Loft is located on Chaweng Beach on the East of Island. Chaweng Beach Road is the busiest road to walk down as you are hounded by every restaurant, bar, tailor and market vendor along with each and every taxi beeping at you and shouting ... read more

Hi guys!!! Well we spent one last night in Bangkok on Saturday and visited Pat Pong!!! and yes, we did see a ping pong show. In actual fact, it wasn't that interesting, although Anton did think the girl who could smoke a cigarette with her mini was quite funny!!! Everywhere we went, we were offered to watch a sex show of some description - it was very strange and seedy Our last day in Bangkok on Sunday and we visited The Grand Palace and Wat Pho Temple. These were quite interesting as the Grand Palace had the Emerald Buddha, carved out of Jade and Wat Pho had the largest reclining Buddha. At the Grand Palace, Anton was wearing longish shorts but was told they were not allowed, so he had to hire some very fetching trousers!! ... read more

Not much to report for the week, we spent the days by the pool and the evenings we would go for food and maybe a drink if we could be arsed. The food in the resort was amazing so there was really no need to leave the resort plus the area in we were staying in, Lamai Beach during low season is full of old western men and their "girl friends" aka Lady boys and prostitutes so there really wasn't much reason to leave either. One of the evenings we went to Chewang which is another popular beach area, and spent two hours looking for lights Debbie decided she wanted. It was way busier but also very commercial. Luckily we were in Samui for rest and relaxation it didn't matter much. G fell in love with ... read more

So today we have to figure out how to get to the islands, G isn't feeling too good, we think she has a sinus infection! Debbie manages to get a late check out so she can stay in bed and hopefully get better . We still need to decide which island we are actually going too. So Debbie decides to waste about 2 hours looking into flying to Koh Samui, even though we knew we couldn't afford it. G had read that under no circumstance should you book an overnight bus from the Koh San Road or anywhere near it! So we wanted to get a government bus but they were all booked out and Debbie wouldn't wait till the next day to travel as she only had 5 days before she had to return home. ... read more
