Our pet cat
Bruno Mars hairdo We arrived at the Samui Native Resort & Spa extremely tired and in Rosaras case, very grumpy after our 31hour journey from Hanoi. Andy the owner and his wife made us feel at home though and the place was really good. The pool looked like heaven in this heat. We waited a while for our room to be ready then were taken on a tour by Andy who showed us our room and our even bigger bathroom. It was bigger than some of the hotels we had stayed in!
We chucked our stuff in and went straight to the pool which was orgasmic. It was the hottest day so far on our trip and we could hear the water sizzling on the floor when it dripped off us.
We spent 5days here after originally only booking 2 because it was so nice and we spent most of our days at Mae Nam beach which was about 15min walk away through some scenery. A bull blocking the road one day meant a little detour. Mae Nam beach was really quiet and the water was calm and clear. We seen a dog surfing here and they also done massages on the
beach for about £4 which Rosara reccommends. I reccommend a few Chang whilst they get a massage.
Every morning on the way to the beach we got breakfast from a funny old woman at a fruit stall. She was always adding weird stuff into our bag without us asking for it but it was always good stuff and we got it everyday after that. Coconut sticky rice balls which didnt look appealing at all and deep fried thai potatoes which were like doughnuts from the fair. We also got fresh coconuts from a place near here to drink and eat the remains of.
One day we jumped on a truck to Chaweng to see what this was like. It was rammed and really aimed at tourists with McDonalds, BurgerKing and Subway etc. The prices for food and drink were higher because of this and we ate in Mae Nam still. The beach at Chaweng was nicer I thought but because it was so busy we preffered Mae Nam which seemed like we had to ourselves.
We ate at our hotel a couple of times because Andys wife made a ridiculousy good Thai curry which want expensive either
unlike other hotels food. They also hosted a BBQ for all the guests one night which was all you can eat for about £2 to cover the cost of meat. It was nearly as good as Vinces BBQ's at home and was a good place to meet all the other guests and share travel tips/stories. We liked a Swedish couple with there kids who spoke good English and tried to persuade them why they should visit Manchester over Liverpool. On another day I also thought I recognised a Manchester accent then upon closer inspection I realised it was a lad who I had seen at Wythy Town. He told us he lived on Peel Hall Road! The world is scarily small.
It doesnt sound like we done a lot in Samui and to be honest we didnt because it was just 5days of relaxing in the Sun. Our resort was amazing considering we paid £9 and if we pass through Samui on the way home we are definitely coming back here. We left via another ferry which was a couple of hours before arriving in Ko Tao.
