Nominate bloggers with 4 or less 'followers' for our Blogger Of The Week award! Nominations are welcome from all, whether you a new Travelblog member or a blogging veteran.
Thanks Jo for stepping in and starting this afresh. Hope Mel is ok. And thanks for summarizing where things stand from the previous list. I went back before Dave and Merry Jo's summary on 18 Janaury, to the beginning of the year to identify those with at least two nominations, and offer the following amendments:
Katemcameron - 4 nominations. Kate was nominated before she received 5 Recommends so should still be eligible as we haven't had a Blogger of the Week for at least three weeks. She might have been one of those before receiving 5 Recommends.
dsd_uk - 4 nominations.
M and M - 2 nominations
paavo33 - 2 nominations
melintheworld - 2 nominations
s v Tsamaya - 2 nominations
Kristins Adventures in Wanderland - 2 nominations
mahadev - 2 nominations
mikiandaaron - 2 nominations
Klaire and Adam - 2 nominations. But with 5 Recommends. Same situation as Kate above.
Almost all are where someone else nominated and I seconded. So I agree with you...everyone needs to look at these bloggers and decide whether to third the nominations.
Reply to this Thanks Bob - I'll amend the relevant lists to include your efforts.
Katemcameron is missing from the above as we've made her Blogger Of the Week this week. Another will chosen at the weekend to get us back onto the previous timing.

Reply to this Thanks Bob, I've included your amendments in Jo's original post.
The plans is to announce the weekly award on every Sunday or on Monday if net access is not possible on that day.
Reply to this We've had a wise suggestion (put by another Moderator) of giving retrospective awards for the two weeks we missed. Thus, dsd_uk and Donny have been chosen to fill in the missing weeks.
Reply to this Wonderful! How about an exception for Klaire and Adam, who when nominated had less than 5 Recommends. I appreciate what you are doing to catch up.
In the meantime after reading the latest blog (
Someone’s tea stinks) from one who I subscribe to, I am nominating Steven of
chipsandgravy as Blogger of the Week. His is the most humorous account about traveling around the North Island of New Zealand that I have ever read, and perhaps of any other place. I like his comment about loosing his lense cap and wedding ring, and when his wife became upset, he promised to get a replacement at the next photo shop. His earlier blogs about Central and South America are also very humorous.
I would also Recommend him, but that would give him 5 Recommendations, and disqualify him from receiving this award.
Reply to this SculforandJupp was selected as Blogger of the Week on January 20, so can be taken off the list. But thanks for picking up the others.

In response to: Msg #152246 Well,
chipsandgravy now has 7 Recommends (not sure who was 5, but Mel was 6 (good to see her back) and I am seven, easily putting him on the Front Page, but having sailed by Blogger of the Week since his original nominations when he only had two Recommends. So I am hoping for another exception to your rule.
Reply to this The intention of Blogger of the Week is to give publicity to those bloggers not eligible for the front page (5 recommends being that number). Once they reach the front page eligibility, then being on the front page is the award, if you get what I mean.
We've been caught before with bloggers who were thought to be great recipients of Blogger of Week, but they gain followers so quickly that they exclude themselves as a result. However, they usually end up on the front page. We've had similar experiences with Photo of the Week too.
The next Blogger of the Week shall be announced within 24 hours, and will certainly be before the commencement of the Academy Awards broadcast!
PS: Belated thanks for picking up that SculforandJupp have already been bestowed with the Blogger of the Week award.

Reply to this I'd like to nominate
tkmax for blogger of the week. Currently traveling, currently blogging. Enjoying a bit of fly fishing and surviving rains on many continents!
Reply to this I check the blogs of those passing through Thailand on a daily basis because I can usually find bloggers on their way around Asia or around the world. I ran across
CharityBarnes yesterday and clicked on Recommend as her blogs about traveling in Africa and South America are interesting. Coincidentally Nick also found her, and it seems to be her fate that she be nominated, so I can second this nomination.

In response to: Msg #152534 Having just read all their blogs since touching down in Bangkok, and then taking the greand tour of Southeast Asia, Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand, I am pleased to second the nomination of
tkmax. I like the way they both contribute to the blog...both with a great sense of humor.
Reply to this Thanks guys for nominating us, we hope to get there soon! Or even be on the front page one day! We will continue to write blogs, we are going to Armenia next week so that should be a pretty special one I think. This thread has been good to find some new bloggers that we enjoy, rather then sticking to our old subscribed list, melintherealworld has been a good find for us!
