Our first school holiday of the year and we decided to head further south. We flew into Adelaide on Easter Sunday and settled ourselves into the Hilton for our first few nights (we can't really afford the Hilton - but you can find really good deals on the net!). Since it was Easter Sunday, everything was really quiet. And the inactivity continued into Easter Monday. No one seems to live in downtown Adelaide, and everything was closed... and then it started to rain. What a wonderful way to spend the day! We did get a nice walk in along the river and through North Adelaide before heading into the museum to spend the afternoon in a dry environment. The following morning, we headed for Cape Jervis and our ferry to Kangaroo Island. Once again, the weather ... read more

Stromatolites, Celebration, Living The Dream, Face The Fear, Big Fish, , Decisions. Leaving Shark bay we make a short stop at another world famous scientific attraction, the oldest living organisms on the plannet, they live for 4000 years, they grow a millimetre a year, they are the Stromatolites! Hoorah. Well really they are a bacteria / amoeba that creates calcite ‘bommies’ in shallow saline water, check the picture of these strange things , not a great kite surfing spot! From Sharky we head north for a big 600ks to be in a good place for me to celebrate my 25th anniversary of life! Exmouth is the destination, set on a peninsula of national park and ringed by the Ningaloo reef it is a huge tourist destination. On the day in question I celebrate by spending a ... read more

Had tea on the way up to Belgrave, fed the birds. I'm not a big fan of birds so dad fed them while I took photos. Took the Puffing Billy from Belgrave to Menzies Creek. It was a relaxing ride, occasionally you get some dust in your face thanks to the wind blowing smoke from the front of the train.... read more

meidät pistettiin tänään Sue:n mukaan. Todella mukava erikoissairaanhoitaja.

I know it has been far too long since our last update, but when each day presents exciting adventures, glorious scenery, intriguing people, and the mysterious unknown, it becomes quite challenging to sit down at a computer to write...but here goes nothing... You know you are a backpacker when… -Sleeping on the family room floor of a house seems like a 5-star hotel! -You get excited about having 4 different cereals to choose from! -Writing this blog is the most challenging goal you set for yourself in a week! -You pack your backpack in less than five minutes in order to catch the next bus! So what have we been up to you may ask?? The better question is probably, what have we NOT been up to? Although we are in Western Australia right now, let ... read more

Imagine a 69 year old woman traveling around Australia on a bicycle. Amazing huh ? I was relaxing on a hammock when an old lady on a push bike asked me for direction. She’s been push biking all day from Cunnamulla to Wyandra, which only takes an hour and a half drive by car. She wanted to camp in Wyandra for the night then head to Charleville in the morning. I showed her the free camp site and gave her a couple of soda water to drink. Her name is Margaret. She is from Germany. She started push biking from Melbourne when I met her in Wyandra. She’s truly an amazing lady. She could have easily qualified in the Guinness Book of Record for the oldest woman to travel around Australia on a push bike. ... read more

tänään oli jotenki väsy eikä ois jaksanu kiinnostaa. Jouduttiin taas päiväklinikan puolelle. Saatiin hoitaa paria potilasta itekin, mut lähinnä tyydyttiin katteleen.

Hey all, we've been in Australia nearly a day now and it all seems pretty cool, not really been up to that much yet, because we're both pretty jet lagged, and have only had about 5 hours sleep since Sunday night (it's now wednesday evening here), but if all goes to plan we should hopefully be doing some surfing and checking out some Aussie rules footy matches pretty soon! Perth seems well nice from what we've seen, very clean, a bit quiet, but we havn't had chance to check out the nightlife yet. Today we've been to Kings Park, which is basically a huge park with loads of cool wildlife and trees etc, we've seen a load of parrots flying about and heard some, and i've even managed to get a bit sunburnt already, even though ... read more
