Friday was our last day at surf camp. It's been a really good little course. Met some lovely people, (even Marvin the Dutchman turned out ok, although he felt the need to start every sentance with the phrase 'I must say though...'), had loads of laughs, camped out with the Kangaroos, munched on outstanding food and even managed to do a mid-surf head-stand on my board for the last day's surfing competition - yes, I'm now a professional surfer of the highest standard! Sorry, I dont have a photo - but it did happen - honest! I'm currently in Byron Bay, which is a lovely little town, populated almost entirely by backpackers, who, like us, flock each night to Cheeky Monkeys bar for cheep grub, beer and table top dancing. On Sunday, a few of the ... read more

Hello all! I am now in Byron Bay, a few adventures down on the East coast! The trip on the reef in Cairns was -well - a bit rocky to say the least! Sea sickness was rife after about 10 minutes the sea was so rough! I can safely say that we didnt pick the best day to go out on the ocean on a very small boat as after about 10 minutes on the sea there were 6 people heaving over the end of the boat , fortunately I managed to hold my stomach by digging my nails into my arm desperately focussing on something else! When we eventually got out to the reef everyone breathed a sigh of relief and couldnt wait to get into the water - anywhere just not on a boat! ... read more

Jen & I started the day at 6.45am and after being collected at the Tourist Park we travelled north with the first stop being a visit to the Cavesham Animal Park. Apperntly some 350,000 people visit the park each year. We saw Koalas and Kangaroos etc and fed some of the animals. Many of the group had a wombat sit on them and this tickled the fancy of many of the overseas visitors. From here we ventured north to the Pinacles after enjoying lunch at Cervantes. On the way we also saw a wind farm with some 20 of the giant fans already erected. A great sight indeed. The journey to Pinnacles was Ok as the coach was quite new. The driver explained how the rock structure came about and was quite interesting. Similar outcrops are ... read more

tänään sit ekaa päivää 3pohjoselle eli verisuonileikkauspotilaiden osastolle. No aika äkkiä meille selvis, että siellä on kaikkee laidasta laitaan. Osasto on sairaalan isoin, niin sinne sit laitetaan ihmiset, joille ei löydy petiä muilta osastoilta... Meille nimettiin oikein ohjaajatki!

Her har han muligheden for at gaa to veje. "Return to carpark" sige det ene skilt og "Lookout walk" siger det andet. Da han ikke havde nogen interesse i at se nogen lookout nu vaelger han carpark. Det skulle han aldrig have gjort...... read more

G'day all you Sheilas and Bruce's! Its been a month since my last blog and as i have a memory similar to that of a goldfish with alzheimer's i am having to consult my diary just to remember what ive been doing, so this could be a messy blog! The last month has seen me watching the Commonwealth games closing ceremony, watching the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix and unfortunately finishing my travels in Melbourne (sob sob!) and now i find myself back in rural Australia picking fruit again. So heres the story so far: At the end of the games i had the pleasure of watching the closing ceremony down on the Yarra River in Melbourne (where i watched the opening ceremony aswell). I got a good seat right by a big screen where there ... read more

Hi everyone, Thought it was time for an update as it has been a while since my last entry, and so much has happened since the last blog. As of December 8, I moved into an apartment with three friends I had recently been bunking up with since my arrival in St. Kilda. By this time we were all very tired of hostel life, and all felt it was time for a change. So we decided to get out and get a place together. I will spare you the details of the first apartment we moved into for two weeks. It was brutal. Very minimal indeed. Definitely not fit for any human. As a result of my complaining and crying, I was given a new nickname. “The Prince.” Apparently nothing was good enough for me. And ... read more

Introduction This week's walk was at Para Wirra Recreation Park which is just south of the Barossa Valley. It is walk number 10 in George Driscoll’s book “50 real bush walks around Adelaide”, called “Gold diggers”. To be accurate, the walk was not within the main Park, but on the opposite side of Humbug Scrub Road. This is significant because to enter into the main park there is an entrance fee, but to do this walk, there is no additional cost. You can find out more about Para Wirra Recreation Park at the South Australian Park web site. How to get there ... From the city take Main North Road past the Old Spot Hotel until you get to Black top road. Turn right onto Black Top Road and head to One Tree Hill. Shortly after ... read more

Aamulla herättiin aikasin ja otettiin juna Cowaniin. Mentiin jo aikasemmin, jotta autettiin Päiviä juhlien laittamisessa. Me Alexin kaa mentiin vähäks aikaa trampoliinille. mä alan oleen jo aika hyvä. osaan pari "temppuakin"... heh! meni siinä kyllä hetki et mä opin ne, mut osaan kuitenki.. Gimme a bike! Gimme Sydney! I cannot think of a better way to explore Sydney and its surronding areas than on two slightly deflated tires, attached to a bike stuck in its middle gear, that cared not much for brakes anymore! Where the Sydneyites zoomed, I cruised, watching the glamour and hussle of Sydney wizz by, not forgetting what a truly amazing place I was in as the cities frantic pace absorbed me. A frantic pace, impossible not to enjoy, but as soon as I had had enough it was anything but difficult to take one step aside from touristy Darling Harbour, or the much photographed stairs of the Sydney Opera house to venture around Syney's botanical gardens or one of Sydney's many surrounding beaches. Quiet places nestled amongst a bustling city, a place where traffic ... read more
