Gimme a bike! Gimme Sydney! I cannot think of a better way to explore Sydney and its surronding areas than on two slightly deflated tires, attached to a bike stuck in its middle gear, that cared not much for brakes anymore! Where the Sydneyites zoomed, I cruised, watching the glamour and hussle of Sydney wizz by, not forgetting what a truly amazing place I was in as the cities frantic pace absorbed me. A frantic pace, impossible not to enjoy, but as soon as I had had enough it was anything but difficult to take one step aside from touristy Darling Harbour, or the much photographed stairs of the Sydney Opera house to venture around Syney's botanical gardens or one of Sydney's many surrounding beaches. Quiet places nestled amongst a bustling city, a place where traffic ... read more

That's it that's all....This is our last day in Australia (tomorrow barely counts since we have to go to the airport and everything) I've walked the city so many times in the past few days, I know it by heart, it feels like home here and it is really sad to leave such a beautiful country. This trip was the best experience ever and I learned so many things about life, about myself, about living with others, about culture, about the world! Travelling is, according to me as good, if not better, than going to university! You learn so much about life... It has opened my eyes as to what i really wanted to do in life and I met people who were actually living this lifestyle! It's incredible! Idid things and went through situations I ... read more

Russell - In our attempt to see some of New South Wales before we have to move on we decided it was time to do a touristy thing and get on a tour up the coast. The most appealing thing seemed to us to be wine tasting in the Hunter Valley but we came across a tour which combined this with dolphin spotting as well as other activities in Nelson Bay so we paid the bit extra for the combined tour. It was an early start for a Sunday, but the bus picked up outside our appartment so it wasn't far to walk. We were sharing the day with a Japanese couple and a boisterous group of 14 Indonesian students. Everyone was in good spirits and John, our driver, started his commentary. The drive up to ... read more

From memory my last blog was written just before we met up with the kids in Perth so will carry on from there. Michael and Leigh were the first to arrive on the Friday and we went off with them that night to see the Super 14 match between the Perth Force and the Capetown Stormers - the Force being unlucky losers again. Ho hum!! Kate, Brett, Jack and Hannah arrived the next day and the fun really started. We all stayed in the same caravan park together, the kids in cabins and us in the van. We spent a day in Kings Park and Fremantle and then the next day took off for Rottnest Island. Just loved it. We hired bikes, John and Brett taking the littlies and cycled around having a lot of fun. ... read more

Helloo everyone... this week we have mostly been in Noosa and Brisbane (or Brisvegas as the locals call it. No idea why it is nothing like Vegas ever. At all.) Noosa is quite small and posh, by the sea and good surfing beaches. Cue Rozi and Steve to try their hands at some Surfing lessons! It was good fun, but really hard work - fighting you way through the waves to get to a spot where you can put your board in the water and try and catch a wave. Then you have to clamber on your board, paddle, push yourself up and try and stand up. It looks easier than it is believe me!!! Still - we both managed to stand up at least, even if it was only for a couple of seconds until ... read more

Well I am sorry to say that I am going to have to skip ahead to present day with my blogs. It is very difficult to go back and remember all the details of every adventure. In my next blog, i will discuss in short my last few months in Melbourne so that I can start writting about the road trip Jesse and I are on right now. Its much more interesting anyway. If anyone is interested in reading the finer details of the adventures in Melbourne, and have a bit of time to do some serious reading, you can check out jesse's web site www.jessebradstreet.com. When I explained to Matt Mulcahy that I was going to travel around Australia, the first question he asked was, ‘where are you starting?’ When I casually replied, ‘Bundalaguah,’ he shrugged his shoulders, took a sip of his beer and said, ‘where else’. Bundalaguah is a small farming community in East Gippsland between Maffra and Sale. It consists of a dozen or more farms, a school, a cricket ground and plenty of beer-stocked fridges. The Simpson family first came to know of the place in the late 70s when Ian and his terry towling hat ventured up the Princess Highway with a Richmond CC team to play a practice clash against the locals. Dad was lucky enough to stay with Neil and Marion Wrigglesworth upon whose property the cricket club stands and, as people do when ... read more

Here we go again. Naeste ... read more

So James completed his scuba diving course and is now a certified diver! We dived down to a wreck and saw a 1.5m turtle from about 30cm away - very cool. Also looked around the shipwreck which has now become an artificial reef with lots of exotic fish and the like. After finishing the course we drove on up to Rockhampton - to a scrappy looking campsite on the outskirts of the city. We were camped along the banks of a great big dirty river - there were signs up everywhere saying to watch out for crocs. James was very excited but Anne got very scared after hearing a snorting sound coming from the undergrowth. James investigated unfortunately only finding a old guy snoring. The weather was still very warm and sunny although getting increasingly humid. ... read more
