HEy, time is going fast and has been a while since my last update, so here a quick overview of were I've been/what I've done. After leaving Adelaide I headed off to Melbounre through the Great Ocean road Famous for the 12 apostles. In reality there are 14 ....but 2 "spareparts" .These rock-formations are made of limestone, once in a while they loze an apostel... (last lost was a couple of months ago). In between visited some parks with Koala's and Kangoroes, some nice walks etc.. Melbourne: beautiful, lively, heaps to do, .... So I walked a lot, had a river-cuise, went to the tennis-courts of the Australian Open (unfortunatly the big court was closed), went to C a stand-up comedian as there was an Internation Comedy event, visited Melbourne Aquarium, the botanical gardens which are ... read more

Well hello there people! Didn't stay in Mission as long as expected cause of weather and prospects of the next bus not coming through for about 4 days blah blah blah but am really glad i decided to go cause next stop was Magnetic Island or 'Maggie' as it is known to the locals and let me tell you that place is paradise!! Stayed in this gorgeous hostel right on the beach in these funky little beach huts and at last the weather got good!! Really good, which is exactly what you need when you are faced with a beautiful beach and the prospect of a couple of days to chill out on it!. We arrived early afternoon and went straight out on the Sea Kayaks. Such a laugh. I was in a double Kayak with ... read more

Missing Freycinet Photos Missing Tassie Photos So I've finally gotten my missing/deleted photos from Freycinet National Park and Tasmania back. Thanks so much to Damian at Harvey Norman in Hobart for doing all the work to recover them from my XD card. He then put them on a CD and sent them to me in NZ. So very nice. So the pics of the Tassie devil and kangaroos are from a wildlife park outside of Hobart. The rest are mostly from Freycinet National park, where I had intended to sea kayak but go shut out because I was a "Loser" party of 1. So enjoy if you have time. ... read more

Koala is an aboriginal word for "animal that doesn't drink" - they get enough from eucalyptus leaves. If you ever see one drinking it is either because it is really sick or there is a severe drought on and they can't get enough from the leaves. Kangaroos also don't need much water and can survive for months without it. Female kangaroos mate again within days of giving birth but they have a reproductive adaptation called "delayed implantation." The fertilized egg will cease development for a while, apparently controlled by the mother. Depending on the growth of the joey in the pouch or the weather that season, the fertilized egg will begin development again when the mother kangaroo is ready The kangaroo and emu were chosen for the Australian coat of arms as neither animal can walk ... read more

Hungover. Sitting on the 'Waves Surf Camp' bus with 8 others, sleepily dozing on the 3/4 hour trip up the coast to our first surf camp. Had a lovely night out last night with Adam, Rika, Tim, Chris, Paul, Dermot, Joe and Bobby, the only trouble was that in our postprandial, drunken, stuffedness we decided to tread the old boards one more time and headed off to Stonewall. It was fun, but I was shattered and only just got back at 4, meaning I've not even had 3 hours sleep, feel like shite and am expected to do energetic surfy stuff. ---- Yep, I've now in Sydney after taking the bus up a few days ago. I've put these photos in the wrong place, but before I left Melly I said Goodbye to the adorable guys, ... read more

G' Day All It’s Anzac Day when we leave Port Augusta; this is when the Diggers, (Veterans) march in memory of their fallen colleagues in all the wars Australia has played a part in. I didn't realise that Australia came quite so close to being invaded by Japan during the last years of WW. If it wasn't for the help of the Papua New Guineans the Japs may have broken through. Coming down under and seeing the War Memorials in both NZ and Australia makes me realise how many gave their lives so that we can live as we are now. First stop on the way is Glendambo, for a top up of petrol. It has 30 people, and, well, see the sign for the rest of the information!! Little in the way of scenery, scrub ... read more

Well hello there! Have had complaints from a few of you that you had heard nothing from me in a while, the reason being I have been in sydney simply living and finding a job rather than doing lots of exciting things. However I have been up to one or two exciting things; Tom and I have taken a tour of the sydney opera house, we have also been to see the ballet there on easter monday, I have been to the royal easter show, seen nancy cartwright live(aka bart simpson) and I have been bodyboarding in waves left over from a cyclone! The ballet was a combination of ballet and bangara dancing and was called gathering. The cyclone waves were left over from cyclone larry and don't worry mum I went in at the end ... read more

Hee hee... Well not absolutley everywhere actually, but we did see quite a few about on the Island. So, we've just spent the last 3 days on Fraser Island - the largest sand island in the world and the only place where you can see 4 different ecosystems existing next to each other all at once... You can stand on top of a sand dune with the rainforest behind you, a freshwater lake at your feet and the sea crashing on the horizon. Its quite an experience. There are no roads on the Island and only 4 wheel drive vehicles can manage the tracks that wind their way across sand, through forest and along the beaches. We went on a 3 day tour in a massive 4WD bus/truck thing, which was really cool. Our driver was ... read more
