Dear Blog, I am pleased to announce that I am feeling much better. The pain in my face has subsided although I am still producing alarming amounts of snot. Have realised that I am quite behind on updating you so will be brief. Both myself and Rachel left our dignity behind in Noosa and I shall not be divulging the antics of that weekend to another soul for both our sakes. However, the drive back through the Hinterland was nice. Spent the next few days after Noosa just chilling out in Hervey Bay. It was so nice to just stay put, unpack and wash all my clothes in a decent washing machine, and eat something other than pasta. One afternoon however we decided that we would go for a bikini wax, as apparently its the done ... read more

Got up having had a desent nights sleep. Then had breakfast. Apparently there wa a market going on down the Valley Market. So being a public holiday with little open myself with some German girl whos name escapes me headed down to check it out. There was approximatly 3 stalls at the market, but all the bars and Reastaurants were at least open. Walked around here for a while before German girl had to leave to go catch her bus up north. I still had a fare pit of time left before having to catch mine so I spent some time on the internet before wondering to China town (right next door.) China Town consist of only one street but it alot nicer then Sydneys or Melbournes ( large pagodas every where.) There seemed to ... read more

Funny how you keep running into the same people that are traveling in the same direction as you are! I got into Noosa and ran into three guys that i'd roomed with in Mission Beach, and then the three people that i'd been with on the Whitsunday trip. It was a reunion! I stayed at the YHA Halse Lodge, which is a pretty cool hostel, very roomy and spacious. My roomies are three hilarious girls - two from Ireland, and one from England. We spent a lot of time playing cards and making fun of each other :) It's very expensive and posh here in Noosa. There's a strip of shops down the street from the hostel - little boutiques with overpriced clothing - although i did find the best ice cream shop ever! I ... read more

We got to Noosa yesterday which was a welcome relief. I wasn't all that keen on Brisbane and the hostel wasn't so nice but it is lovely here in Noosa. We went out last night and the hostel actually had a meet and greet welcome meeting - it was like being on holiday : ) Today I went surfing!! I really enjoyed it. I had been hoping to learn somewhere along the East Coast and they have a good surf school here so I decided to sign up for a lesson. It was 2 hours and we spent a short time on the beach learning the basics and trying out our moves. They teach a 1-2-3 step process and it works. We went out into the sea and rode a few waves, just lying on ... read more

Well next stop after Brisbane was a place called noosa, which was another place that was nothing like i expected. Well i got off my greyhound slightly worried as i had no were to stay and the hostel i phoned up whilst on the bus said they had no rooms available and then strangely wished me good luck as thoguh i would have really bad trouble finding a hostel. But fortunately i found one but unfortunately it was a 30 minute walk to the centre! My first task was trying to find a supermarket to buy food for the night, that ended up taking me 4 hours of walking in the boiling 35 degree heat to only find out 30 minutes later there was one just 10 minutes round the corner. Oh well you live ... read more

Hi guys! sorry its been like... a week since ive last written. time does just fly by. so we've done a lot in a week. after fraser island and being in hervey bay, we took a greyhound to rainbow beach (because we didnt want to wait for our stupid oz bus... the schedule isnt always the greatest). it was the smallest town we've been in yet in australia (under 1000 people). it was really nice just to sit and relax there... cause there really was nothing going on. our first night there we ran into some kids from winnepeg and we hung out with them for the night. it was nice to talk to some people without accents for the whole night! haha. we went surfing on our second day in rainbow, but the surf there ... read more

Having loved noosa so much on our day trips with darren, we decided to stop back there for a couple days on our way up!! we stayed at the yha which is an amazing little hostel. the first day we decided to hire a surf board which was halarious! i swear the waves were so small until i got in then the decided to grow double the size and dump me on my ars!.......more than once! i got smacked by the board in the nose so gave up not long after! In the evening wealked out to the national park to see the sunset. we were sat on the beach and there were loads of dolphins swimming around really close which was awsome! we also saw a koala in the tree on the way back ... read more

Eager to find our way to Noosa and out of the shoddy weather, Gene and I packed up and headed north on the Sunshine Motorway. Along the way, we stopped at the Eumondi Market, enjoying the live entertainment, German sausage stand and numerous tents selling various types of goods. The woman who sold me a bratwurst, plain, curiously inquired, “Are you American?” “Yes, I am. Why do you ask?” “I don’t know what it is with Americans, but they never order a bratwurst without sauerkraut. You are the first in hundreds of American customers to order it without,” the dumbfounded woman remarked. “And to think she’s German, too!” Gene jested. “No worries…I like to think I’m quite unlike anyone else anyways,” I added with a smile. “Have a good day ladies.” As we meandered along, Gene ... read more

We are about at the sixth month point of our trip, in that time we have seen a lifetime of beaches and it now takes a pretty special one to make us gasp. When we arrived at Rainbow Beach, fresh from dolphin feeding, we had few expectations of the place. The site we stopped at gave us our first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean but it wasn't until we stepped onto it that we realised how beautiful it was. With a brilliant blue sea crashing in waves against a seemingly endless sandy beach we wasted no time in grabbing our towels and setting up at the designated swim area (on many of Australia's beaches lifeguards patrol between two points and whilst it sounds a bit wussy to head for those areas when you have seen the ... read more
