The skies were grey and rain was falling when we got to the bus stop in Noosa. Luckily the hostel shuttle was there waiting for us. The bloke showed us around a bit then dropped us at the hostel, check in took a while here. It turned out the a girl we had seen on the greyhounds at the beginning of the trip was staying there too (Hi Sheila if you read this hope the rest of your travels are going well?). So we all got a beds in the same dorm. After dropping our bags on the beds Thommo and I headed to the National park to go for a walk. It had seceded raining for a while, however we still borrowed an umbrella from Sheila as I didn’t have any water proofs with me. ... read more

Hello All I haven't written about the Whistsundays yet (it wil come soon) as I really want to concentrate and put all the names down etc but at the moment I'm too excited to concentrate to that extent!! So, what have I been up to since I did the Whitsundays? Well, I got back from there on the Wednesday at about 5pm, and after checking back into the YHA hostel and having a shower (you weren't able to have a shower on the boa!!), I met the rest of the people from my boat in the Beaches hostel bar for a drink. We were meant to get a free pitcher of beer for every third person that joined our table, but I don’t think it really worked! It was nice though to sit and have a ... read more

Well well well we are in beautiful noosa right now and just love it. The only down part is that hostels are very expensive so we went out apartment shopping. we found an apartment that we could rent by the week so we took it. Its nothing special though. (we only get 4 channels on our rustic TV) The sofas are nice and colourful which is a plus. The best part is we no longer have to wait 20 or more minutes for a pot to cook some macaroni. Our Apartment is not very close to the main part of the town or the beach so we decided to rent a Tandem (2 person) bike for the week. they are extremely hard to ride we already hit a tree ( it was my fault) Only the ... read more

Here it is finally, the report on my last 3 weeks of travelling in Oz before I got ill. It was a bit difficult to find enough motivation to write this from home but here it is anyway. It's a pretty long one. Enjoy! The East Coast The East Coast is one of the most famous backpackers' routes in the world. It is a long stretch (over 3000 km) from Cairns in the North all the way down to Sydney. At first sight it's much like what I image the Spanish Costa's are like (haven't been there though): sun, young people with a lot of booze and drugs and party all the time. There is happy hours, Mr and Miss Backpackers elections and wet T- shirt competitions, pub crawls, world cup parties... For the more active ... read more

Sunday 4. Woke to another cold morning. While eating savory egg pastry, guy showed me 'Sunshine Coast Sunday' newspaper with colour photo of - me. Noosa News same syndicate so I guess they decided to uew it in the much more widely distributed paper- Caboulture to Noosa. Website not quoted. This is still major media exposure. Did Sunshine cafes. Drove Eumundi - Earth Day Fair. Went through stallholders then ate and did crowd. Flag flew at pub. So many faces of supporters, lost track in greenery and sunshine. Bands good. Eumundi. Driving back in Noosaville jinked on road, pulled over by constabulary. Blew .05 while a horde of lorikeets chattered deafeningly in the eucalypts. He let me go and I walked to take oxygen. Earth Day.... read more

Tue. 30 Saw a school of dolphins. Their lunch, jumping desperately flew ten meters. One dolphin peeled off in chase and caught what looked like a garfish, very long. Wed. 31 May. Drove to Caloundra to see article. VERY disapointing. Picture in colour but only white stars on blue showing. Many inaccuracies including that 7000 stickers had gone out in Caloundra! I wish. Most of article was RSL rebuttal, catering to local retirees. Got green and yellow Artline textures for decorating back of stickers. Stopped at Coolum on way back. Response revived my spirit from dismal article. Went to Sunshine Beach. Long walk into southern part of National Park. Wonderful. Oh yes, and very cold nights indeed. June 1. Stickering surfing crowd at Sunshine Beach. Many birds. Noosa News reporter very on-side. Article to appear. And ... read more

Yes, we are back in Florida and this is a very dated entry. Last night at dinner, friends inspired me to complete this entry and get it posted. I am unable to download the rest of the photos, but I think there are enough here to call it good. So, going back to April.............. After the heat and humidity in Broome, Noosa was beautiful. Our apartment, on an island canal, was ideal for an extended stay. We began to feel like locals for the 18 days that we stayed there. In addition to walking the beach and hiking in the National Park, we took a 4-wheel drive and boat tour of the Great Sandy National Park. The Great Sandy is the world's largest vegitated land mass. It is a large sand dune island off the coast ... read more

At Brisbane's coach terminal, just before I boarded the coach to Noosa, I was asked to weigh in my bags....my backpack is 21.1kg and my small backpack is 10.6kg! Holy Shite! I really need to sort this out, 31.7kg is just a tad over my 20kg baggage limit on busses and planes! Still, with a bit of re-arranging, they let me board and I headed off to Noosa. Noosa is a really, really, gorgeous place. I only managed to spend a couple of days here but loved it instantly. Tea Tree Bay is stunning with gloriously clear waters peppered with long white/transparent fish that swim between your legs. During a wander through Noosa National Park I spotted a turtle swiming to the surface for air at Hells Mouth and my first cuddly Koala, Steve Erwin eat ... read more

Hey everyone We're currently in Noosa, a nice little town by the sea and a bit more yuppy than Byron Bay. Due to how our bus times etc are fitted together we've had to spend the last 4 days here and are leaving on sunday. We've done a number of activities from surfing to kayaking so is all good. There was also some excitement when we went bodyboarding and chose this stretch of the beach where the waves were huge. Was really good fun but what we didn't realise was that the water was really shallow and there was also a no swimming sign post up (which we didn't see). Anyway caught a few waves and was enjoying it but not long into it and huge waves introduced me to sand face first. No real damage ... read more
