Currently by the Witsunday Islands at a place called Airlie beach which has just the balance of excitement and relaxation on offer. Took us 13 hours on an over night coach to get here which was not the highlight of the holiday as you can well imagine but it must be done in order to board the 'Dreamcatcher'. A brand new 19 berth sailing yacht which we have booked for a 3 day island cruise, scuba and snorkelling by day, sleeping on deck under the stars by night, providing the weather doesn't turn for the worse. Since Brisbane we have visited Australia zoo where we saw the Crocs, fed the kangaroos and petted a Koala. We stayed in a place nearby called Dolphins beach house in Noosa which was very relaxed and peaceful. The beach there ... read more

Following the greyhound bus journey from Brisbane arrived in Noosa and was met by the courtesy coach for Kola Backpackers resort where I had booked for 2 nights. On arrival into the dorm the room was filthy and the shower had green algae going up the walls, I asked if they had another dorm but was told no. During the afternoon went down to Noosa heads then came across the YHA asked if they had space for the hostel and sat outside the room on the balcony for the evening. ... read more

Arrived in Noosa and got to our Koala hostel. Oh My God! What a shit hole! We had to share a room off a dorm which was covered in dirty underwear and food. We also had to share their bathroom which was nasty! Luckily we were only staying one night. Noosa itself is pricy but beautiful with nice beaches and national park walks. Complained about the room and got a free jug of beer, which was the last thing we needed at this point. Spent the eve chatting to 2 mental English guys from Bognor and met our dorm mates later, which were all Swedish and real nice, but very messy! Woke them all up at 6am the next morning as we got up for our bus. Jo accidentally turned off the alarm so we had ... read more

Noosa's a bit of a retirement area, so we're not finding as many things to do as Byron or Surfers...but it's still beautiful! I only have the one picture, but i'll be giong to the National Park soon, and we'll try and spot some dolphins. We're here for about ten more days then off on our east coast adventure that i keep talking about! Sounds like I'm never getting there, doesn't it? Can't wait! :)... read more

Hello and greetings from Noosa! Firstly....HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mum and Batrice!!! Hope you both had a lovely day and enjoyed your meal! All is good over here, we have a free day to just mooch so thought I'd catch up on this... I think the last entry left me at Surfers Paradise...cool, so we spent a nice day on the beach but the waves were so strong that we didn't swim - paddling was enough cos you could be in the water up to your ankles and the waves would come in and soak you up to your waist!! We did venture in a bit further but just kept getting knocked over!! Muchos fun. That night our hostel had organised a free trip to a club where you got a meal and drink but we left ... read more

Our hostel in Noosa North Shore was the nicest place we have stayed so far. Noosa is a busy area on the Sunshine Coast. North Shore is about 20 mins from the main part, Noosa Heads, and we had to go on a short ferry ride to get to it. It was well worth it though as we the place was so peaceful and lovely (not over-developed like other places we passed through). We stayed in a four-bed ensuite dorm with a kitchen and lounge joined to it, which we shared with one other room. All of the people were really nice. The hostel had 50 acres of land with horses, a lake, two pools, tennis courts, barbeques etc. There was so much wildlife - especially birds. The kangaroos were right outside our door in the ... read more

Mon 2. Went to Nambour. Spruik early. Went to library for blog. Drove to Yandina, small spot spruik good fun. Saw King Parrot on real estate office but not in real life. Pretty country. Lunch in Coolum. Then north to coastal park I had walked before. Bush fire devestation. Paperbarks burned. All of the birds were gone. To where I know not. Coastal strip still green so I came over dune to perfect beach. Alone. Saw whales on horizon in repeated tail slapping. Serious splashing. View Mooloolaba sinking in the south to Noosa Heads in the north. Nudie swim sublime. Crows copulating on beach. Then back through burnt out bush. Only occasional cheep where before had been chirpy. Shoots on trees showed some would recover. Wonderful spruik on Sunshine Beach. Many takers reporting stickers had been ... read more
