Just spent three lovely days in Noosa! It was raining when I first arrived which was a bit of a shock but it soon stopped so managed a wander round the town and bumped into Penny (a friend from Sydney) who I knew was going to be in town with her friend Richard. We went out for a delicious meal later that evening which was quite expensive but gorgeous and a real treat for me! The next day the three of us went to Australia Zoo in their hire car (I told you I lived it up!) and spent the whole day ooohing and aaaring at all the cute critters! Got to stroke roos, koalas (yippeee!) and saw so many different animals! We of course took in the Croc show and it was all a ... read more

May 17. Pleasant day. Received 2800 more stickers from printer. 52,000 now distributed. Drove to Coolum for spruk, swim and internet. Good response and more feedback of sightings. Woman pulled over and honked. She wanted sticker. Had seen TV story. I felt very light. Have called family and sorted financial matters so everything is under control. Went on to Sunshine Beach my old haunt. Found my article from Ballarat 'Courier' with Eureka flag in picture. Added article to media file. Vey impressive. Dreaming Festival in Woodford is on weekend of 10th June. May 18. Went to Noosaville ZINC radio but got no call. Lunch and lazy day. Met bloke community radio, Phil, who interviewed me last year. Hanging Out in Trendy Noosa From the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast Continuing our beach experience in northern Australia we left Surfer’s Paradise for the trendy part of the Sunshine Coast. Noosa, located about 120km north of Brisbane, marks the far northern tip of the so called Sunshine Coast. This stretch of coastline consists of small towns and beautiful beaches which acts as a weekend paradise for business people from Brisbane and a summer holiday spot for Aussies from all over the country. Unlike the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast has fewer high rises and less kitsch. It is more refined with nice restaurants and upscale shops. Think the Malibu or Boca Raton of Queensland, Australia. Since we didn’t have very far to drive from Surfer’s Paradise we got a late start on the day. ... read more

Sun, surf and relax in Noosa In Noosa we spend 5 days of relaxing and enjoying the sun and beach. We stayed at a campsite, which was close to the village. Here I used my birthday present, which were surf lessons. We were really good at it! Directly the first time after practising on the beach, we caught a wave and stood upright on the board untill we reached the shore. But after this beginners luck there seemed to be more on surfing than just standing on the board after the surf teach pushed us into the wave. There is strong paddling, chosing the right wave, check the rip, don't be in the way of other (more experienced) surfers, etc. We will need a lot more practising on this! But we'll have more beaches on ... read more

Jo! vi at glass ocksa, dansk glass.

Ha ha, thought that title might get your attention! Don't worry Dad, it's not my own personal nudity I'll be discussing so you can get that blood pressure back on an even keel! After another journey with a raging hangover we arrived in Noosa last Sunday and made it to Brenda's uncle's worrying about what he was going to think of the three of us rocking up slightly green around the gills. But we needn't have worried as we were greeted warmly by him, his daughter Julie, her husband Simon and their kids Calum and Ella and each of us had a glass of wine in our hands before we'd even put our bags in our rooms! I got a bit of a fright when I met the family dog Tara - a huge rotweiler - ... read more

Greetings from Sunshine Beach, Noosa! As we were fortunate enough to stay with Brenda’s family in Noosa, we took the liberty of extending our stay from 4-5 days to 9-10 days (obviously after an invite of course), in order to “mind the house" while Brenda's uncle David was away in Sydney and to look after his Rottweiler “Tara”. We arrived on Sunday with mild hangovers due to the Brisbane city nightlife and were kindly greeted by Brenda’s cousin Simon who took us back to B’s uncles' house. We didn’t even have our bags down before a glass of wine and a personal stubbie holder (beer can device that keeps beverages at a nice temperature) were presented to us along with hugs from her cousin Julie and her kids (Ella and Callum). We all sat out ... read more

Well we survived the hangover and the bus trip from Brisbane (just about!) and arrived into my heaven on earth Noosa last Sunday. Noosa is such a special place to me as my dearest Aunt Geraldine from Belfast immigrated here with her husband David many moons ago and brought up there children Stephen and Julie here. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Noosa once before (about 3 years ago) but under very sad circumstances- to spend time with Geraldine as she battled lung cancer. She passed away two weeks after I left and so it could be said that this trip to Noosa will be an emotional one, but one I will cherish. I am so looking forward to spending time with my Aussie family who I don’t often get to see. And in true ... read more

We arrived in Noosa with nowhere booked thinking we would cruise up to the first hostel we found and find room, we were very wrong. After finding that everywhere was fully booked we decided to take our chances at Koala's hostel, and wait for no shows. The courtesy bus was driven by the craziest Aussie called Dom we have met to date, who should have had a job as a stand up comic, and not a hostel dude. The first thing he asked us was if we had travel insurance, and with his driving, I'm glad I did! We were taken on a tour of Noosa in the bus and every now and again, he'd pull over and point at a eucalyptus tree and then drive off, a joke he plays on unsuspecting tourists. They see ... read more

Crikey!! Noosa is a great little beach town and a popular surf spot. Since we left our boards at home, we went to pay our respects to the late Crocodile Hunter Mr. Steve Irwin and check out his Australian Zoo which is located in the nearby town of Beerwah. It defintely did not disappoint. The philosophy of the zoo is for the guests to have contact with the animals - once you love them you want to protect them. We pretty much fed the kangaroos all day long... The crocodile show was fantastic as were all the exhibits. You have to be pretty gutsy to get in the ring with those crocs! We also got up close with a few koala bears and even fed the asian elephants. It was a great day! Noosa was ... read more
