Noosa, a beatiful town with many canals and luxurious houses :) Me want to be rich! The hostel had free use of kayaks and surfboard so one day I went kayaking one day along the river and canals admiring the nature and the houses and for 4 days I went surfing :) Surfing as a beginner is frustrating, hard, painful and getting suprising amount of salt water into your nose ;) It was not until my 4th time I managed to stand on the board for several times and seconds :) One day I went walking around the coast in the national park and was lucky and saw dolphins swimming in the ocean and a koala climbing down a tree, walking close past me and then climbing up another tree :) So cuddly !... read more

A bit of a yuppy town but still a really nice place, some really good beaches on the sunshine coast and some good posh little bars. Not much to do except chill out on the beach and relax at night but still worth a visit. On the way out i had a go at Zorbing. Basically they put you in a big rubber ball full of water and throw you down a hill.... read more

We had heard from others that we could easily rent a house in Noosa for a resonable amount of money so that was our intention arriving there. Well it didn't turn out to be that easy cause we arrived there on a Friday & this place is busy at the weekend. But the tourist information are always a helpful bunch & can usually point you in the right direction so off we went. It's funny how things have changed since Asia.....usually when we arrived somewhere in Asia we would always reserve judgement of a place on the first day because we were ususally wrecked from travelling but here in Oz......regargless of how long we're travelling our first impression of a place usually sticks. Noosa is such a lovely place. It is made up of Noosa Heads ... read more

Welcome Home Welcome to our first new jounal entry. Been inspired by a fellow traveller Wazza to get a better site - this time we might actually make more regular journals. I've been back in Oz since early August and spent a whirlwind first month travelling around visiting family and friends, from the Sunshine Coast to Roadvale (Boonah) to the Gold Coast and then a month stint up in Darwin working for Territory Housing and staying with my mate Karen. ... read more

Fri 26th Oct: Had a bad night with my knee, who said exercise is good for you (that would be me!) so Laz happy to drive to Noosa. Sheila (the car) started making a funny noise when we got near to Noosa so we managed to find a garage at get it looked at. The turbo gate cap (or something along those lines) had blown off and needed replacing but the mechanic pointed us in the direction of the Mitsubishi garage which was fortunately en route. Got a bit lost trying to find it and (sorry but I'm going to have a quick rant) Laz decided to drive all the way into Noosa before stopping to ask! What is it with men not wanting to stop and ask for directions! Anyway, rant over, found the garage, ... read more

O12. Damp. Whales and dolphins. In desperation did laundry. Drying successful as clouds held off. Lunch final drying. Parkup by river mouth watching flock of kitesurfers and flight of seabirds, exotic terns on wings wedged wayback, bodies like bullets into the wind. Finally picked up and parked up on main street scene. Mike said bring large flag to fly at his car dealership on road to eumundi. Next encountered most in sync on wave Wayne from Corrumbin near Burleigh Heaads. Beers and more beers all truth on the table. He led me to utter extremeties. He got fifty stickers for his hippy shop. I had to go to maintain equiliberty. Hot shower at backpacker the bottom line. Then parked up underground concrete to avoid mossies and sandflies. I espied bird poo and welcome swallow nest with ... read more

O8. noosa O9. Phil and Mark local radio talk enjoyable. Computer encounter library most helpful. Barby riverside. Sky cleared to blue. Rain burned off by sun. Reckon it'll cloud over again tonight. Bites healing, am now avoiding danger zone. Close encounter with Christina of 'A Current Affair' Melbn. I schpieled flawlessly for fifteen minutes. She was enthralled!! I said they should fly me in. Clouds thickened as sun set. When I emerged from reading at sailing club on river sky show of flashes between clouds and jagged bolts to ground. O10. Lilting piping of butcherbird as I drifted into consciousness parked up by paperbarks on a road less travelled. Wagtails relentlessly harassed a crow. Maybe they had a nest nearby. Drove to Maroochydore to await bank opening. Must send two grand to china. The deed done, ... read more

So we left Townsville on the ferry to Magnetic Island (having almost got on the wrong one - oops) which is only a 20 minute ride away. The island looked beautiful and we could see our hostel just up the beach from the port. Unfortunately the bus took a magical mystery tour which took half an hour to go 2 mins up the road! But anyway we got there safe and sound, the hostel looked nice and before we checked in we ran into James and Lisa on the beach. We had been planning to meet up as it was Lisa's birthday so it was good to see them. Although they scared us with tales of dirty, noisy rooms..but as it turned out it was just theirs! As we checked in, for the first time something ... read more

Traveled from here onto Brisbane - where we staying in a 30 person dorm - oh yes wasn't that a treat!! At least we have now experienced it, which i feel every traveler must do!! hehe, i am such a pro now!
