O3. Pair of kookaburras laughing thru the moonlit night. Morning marina three burgees. Main street Yeppoon good response. One couple said they saw me on TV a few days ago. Seven must have run the story. Good good. I have reached the status of zen spruik master. Reading the mood, quick response, action without thought. Hard slog standing in street for hours my legs aching. Driven by what primal urge? To become, step into the future. To collect thoughts like treasures. The story of our flag. earth central, global lex, pax planetica. Then I strolled down path to broad swath of sand stretching north and south. Shallow water ran out to the keppel islands, great and north. On the end of a curve the harbour's great rocky shoulders. Crazy crabs doing dot art. Fair fine ... read more

Hi all, taking over from Ali on the blogging. We arrived in Noosa Sat late morning (22nd Sept) to blazing hot sun, and its only springtime here cool! well hot actually! We decided to catch up on some sleep due to missing it out on the overnight flight. Little did we know how tired we really were as we were awoken by thunderstorms and heavy downpours of rain to find it was evening time. Not good, although we made this up instead waking up early Sun morning to find it overcast. There went the beach plans so we headed into the town centre to book a Fraser Island trip from one of the tour centres and have a look around. This worked out well as we came across a classic car festival going on, Austin Martins, ... read more

After leaving the hippes of Byron Bay I headed for Noosa in Queensland, "The Sunshine State". I arrived in Noosa just as a huge thunderstorm settled over the area. I absolutely love being in the tropics, but the necessary rain isn't my favorite. The bone soaking downpour lasted a few hours and denied me from even leaving the hostel. I decided on Noosa after electing to skip the big area of Surfers Paradise and Brisbane. From other travelers I heard nothing good about this area unless you really wanted pubs and clubs. After passing through these areas on the bus I think I made a good decision. Surfers was basically a little Miami Beach with huge high rises and clubs that stayed open till 5 am. My first full day in Noosa I spent at the ... read more

After a great week in the Red Centre, i was looking forward to meeting my friendly friends from Japan, who has kindly offered me their home as an excape from Backpackers. Brisbane is a nice enough city but nothing too exciting so it was nice to have a lovely family to come back and have dinner, sharing their great adventures travelling the world, back in the 70's. To me they are the true "BACKPACKERS" these day backpacking is so easy everything is laid out for you pretty much, it so safe and easy to get about. whereas back then they had to hitch hike on a smuggling truck, got stop by the police in Africa and everyone else in the truck was thrown in prison...sounds pretty adventurous huh?!!! It was also nice lazing infront of the ... read more

We left Byron Bay and made the short journey down the road to the village of Nimbin, a former hippy settlement where weed has basically been legalised. A quick look around the 'museum', a coffee, and a trip to the local pub were the highlights, where chatting to the locals was an interesting if suddate experience. In an attempt to escape the bad weather, we headed north to Noosa in Queensland, on the Sunshine coast, a town famed for its surfing and National park. Unfortunatley the bad weather appeared to follow us north, as we were greeted by a tropical storm - one of the low points of the trip so far as we were expecting things to brighten up. Rather than mope about and feel sorry ourselves, the next day we visited the Australia Zoo, ... read more

G'day folks. Our adventure is nearing it's end but the pace is still full on!! Since the last update we have kept up our busy schedule. We ended our Northern Territory sojourn with a 4WD trip into the Kakadu wilderness. The highlight was a long sandy drive and then a hike to lovely Jim Jim Falls - one of the most scenic sights in the area apparently. We both swam in the icy (yes really) waters under the waterfall. Our next destination was Brisbane. We were met off the plane by some old/young ozzie mates - Ken and Menna. They showed us Byron Bay + the Gold Coast, as well as treating us to a top notch barbie beside Watego Beach, Byron. We then headed north to catch up with Barb and Kelli Honan who ... read more
