Deadly Waters, One Up For The Pommies! ‘4WD only’ Pah Nuts to that were English don’t you know, !Mordor!, Triple Bungle, Top End, The Famous Botanist. Howdy, Last we saw the intrepid Duo it was in the tropical holiday resort of Broome, loving wet T-Shirts, baring the heat, hopeing to Kite and thinking about fish. Our plan was to Kite the famous Cable Beach, but as we all know the weather has a habit of disrupting plans, with Soueasters being the Go we make do with a trip to Town Beach on the other side of the Broome peninsula (you cant kite an offshore wind unless you have a death wish or passport, some dollars and desire to kite to India.). Upon arriving at the beach we see a large and deeply terrifying sign, we both ... read more

The trip from Alice Springs to Darwin included going to some really beautiful places. The Devils Marbles was not what I expected though in the slightest! You always see the one picture of someone in between the two huge rocks, so I had always thought that that was it, two marbles...but no...there are 'heaps' covering a really huge area...so yes that was a very pleasant suprise... My favourite part travelling up to Darwin was Katherine Gorge. Unfortunately I wasn't able to canoe there due to the recent cyclone, so instead I went on a boat for a few hours...when I return I shall most definately canoe though, even though there are crocodiles! It was amazing to see trees growing out the side of the gorge and water seeping out of it creating such delicate waterfalls... As ... read more

Well my trip from Alice Springs to Darwin was not too good. If it wasn't for the great friends that I made then I would be completely moaning about it. Our tour guide was horrible, such a moody guy reluctant to answer any questions and just wasn't informative in the slightest! Plus he never gave us any feedback forms at the end which is a bit dodgy to me... Oh well...anyway...I've spent my time here in hot hot Darwin mainly with two girls, Chris and Mel. During the day we would do our own thing and explore the city, then meet up in the evening for our bargain $1 meal and go out for the night. Seriously, this $1 meal may sound rather erm...interesting...but it is actually really nice, especially the lasagne which is something I ... read more

Var dog ... read more

Her har han muligheden for at gaa to veje.

Here we go again. Naeste ... read more

Hello all! I have just had an amazing three days in Kakadu National Park with Pat from Kakadu 4wd safaris! Having not really planned anything in Darwin, or really realising there was anything interesting to do in Darwin, we were convinced by several people we met along the way that Kakadu was wortha visit. Unfortunately when we arrived in Darwin we were told there had been large amounts of flooding and that Katherine (a town near the park) was totally under with water and people were being evacuated out of there! Never-the-less we decided to book a tour and experience what we could of the park which we could get to through the water. We spent three days wandering around Darwin waiting for Sunday to arrive so we could start our tour. When to day came ... read more

As you can see, despite having only been in Oz for 4 days, I am already picking up the lingo. Well here we are in Darwin. Having been told by a couple of guys in Singapore that people only go to Darwin when they're on the run from the police or want to disappear, we are pleasantly surprised to find that Darwin is quite small and dull, and doesn't appear to be particularly infested with dangerous escapees... The main danger appears to be to out piggy banks - Australia is seriously expensive. We have been spoilt recently I guess with food being ridiculously cheap everywhere we've been, but the prospect of daily living costs here is plain scary!!! Our flight from Singapore was slightly more exciting than we might have liked, with a combination of us ... read more

Yes thats right guys it is Saturday and i am still in Darwin. Confused? Yep threw me a little too but hey ho. Remember that darned rain i told you about, well its only gone and flooded Katherine and most of the roads out of Darwin so my coach trip has been postponed until next week. One more week in darwin - oh ok i'll force myself then. Especially since all the rain is just in the surrounding areas and not in the city so its beautiful and sunny out right now. ho hum what will i do?? Went to the Northern Territory Museum and Art Gallery yesterday and really enjoyed it (and to think i would have missed it if it hadn't rained). Was also left a little freaked out though by the Cyclone Tracey ... read more

Hello all I'm here to tell you a little story about a place called Darwin. The thing you have to remember about Darwin is that it is in the tropics so that means really high humidity (80% phew!) and that they have a wet season. Now it appears that i have arrived at the end of the wet season and at a time the aborigines call the "knock-em-down" storm season. Now boy do they mean it! Its still like 35 degrees but at about 4 o'clock most days you are pretty much guaranteed a spectacular storm! Its really weird walking round in your shorts and thongs (sorry flip flops cant help but pick up the lingo) while being soaked through to your skin yet the second the rain stops you dry off! why cant the rain ... read more
