Hallelujah! We have arrived at Tropical Palms safe and sound. Thank you, Cory! You did a fine job getting all of us here in one piece. Lulu is blowing kisses to him (best she can). We pulled into the check-in area at 11:10 AM. Cory unhooked our car there. He checked us in. All's well (We thought). We walked down to our site to size it up. We never remember exactly where to pull up to level the RV without looking at the site each time. HEY! What Going On Here? What the he_l? You Have to be Kidding! Just like Goldilocks & The Three Bears! There's someone in our spot! This is not good....we are less than thrilled. We should be so excited and doing a double happy dance. Instead, we are stomping up to ... read more

Geo: 28.3467, -81.4801So here we are, home at last. We left Tallahassee at 7:50 with 79 degrees under clear skies and drove to the State Capitol Complex, which is in the middle of the city. We arrived during rush hour traffic, so it was not possible to get out of the car and wander around. I snapped a couple of photos through the car window (something I have done a lot of on this trip). Basically there are two capitol buildings, the "Old State Capitol" and the current one. The old capitol building has a very traditional look to it, with columns and a dome. Right behind it is the new building, which is a tall tower, similar to a few others that we have seen. The two are on the same piece of land, back ... read more

Geo: 28.3467, -81.4801This is our last day in Orlando and we're awakened by rolling thunder and rain splashing on the patio outside. Noooo....this is going to be our last day at Universal. We have plans and getting drenched was not one of them! We talk about going out to breakfast to give the storm a chance to pass when we realize that it is already after eleven. Instead of going out we make coffee and set out the tortillas, hummus and cucumber; chop up a little lettuce and tomato and have an odd brunch. The rain has stopped by the time we get to the park and we're glad about that. Our first ride is "Despicable Me." The wait for this ride has never been less than 55 minutes any time we've looked and we agree ... read more

Geo: 28.3467, -81.4801Oh good heavens! Is it really time to get up?? We don't want to miss our free breakfast so we drag ourselves out of bed and go down to the lobby. For me, it is totally worth it because there are packages of instant grits. Yum!! (In case you are wondering, or are horrified, my family is from the South and I love grits (and 'fatback' but we won't go there)).After breakfast we go back to our room, and I call reception to ask for a late checkout - 1pm? Perfect. We go back to sleep. Seriously. Next thing we know it's 12:30 and we're getting ready to head out. We have a timeshare in Kissimmee for the week. Oh, was that a gasp I heard? Are you wondering how two super frugal people ... read more

It's that time. The writing is on the wall. The welcome mat has been shook and stored. We've cleaned and packed up our RV and car. It feels barren inside and outside the motor home. The homey feel is gone. We do bring a lot of stuff! But it makes it so pretty, festive and homey, I tell Cory, as he moans and sweats trying to make a place for everything. Why is unpacking upon arrival so much more fun? No matter- the job is done. We are still talking….. In the morning, we (he) unhooks our TV cable, sewer hose & electric. We bring in our four slides. Make sure the refrigerator is on propane. Lock the outside compartments, hook up the car and do several walk-arounds. Lulu likes all this because she likes being ... read more

A beautiful evening under the stars with friends. Life doesn't get any better than that. Sheila & Tom invited Cory & myself and Sam & Sandy to dine with them for a farewell party for Mike. Mike is the nice fellow who lives between Sam & Sandy and us. Kind of like a rose between two thorns. He’s from Canada. Many of our friends are from there. Sandy and I brought a dish-to-pass but Sheila’s presentations were the piece de resistance. She puts Julia Childs and Paula Deen to shame. No one went hungry. Everything was delicious. She and Tom were gracious hosts. Tom has a keen wit and kept us in laughter during the evening. While at Tropical Palms, they live in a humongous 5th wheel trailer. I do not exaggerate as you can see ... read more

This is our celebration! Fifty one years together.. Yoweeee. What a grand ride it has been. Who would have thought that way back when.......two foolish college kids would end up having a magnificient family of four wonderful children and 9 wonderful grandchildren. Our lives together have been very full & successful - because of the undying support provided to each other. Yes, there's always some ups and downs but that is just part of life. Fortunately, we have always had one another to move each other along through the occasional hurdle. Cory always says " Focus On What You Can Control" rather than act like a blithering zombie that perhaps I could become on a rare occasion. He is a skilled mediator......part of his job he held as the Vice President of Human Resources. As we ... read more

Dull times don't seem to be a part of our agenda. No grass growing under our feet….but not much grass to grow down here anyway. Upon our arrival here at Tropical Palms, some 3 ½ months ago, Cory set up a nice canopy tent. He put fancy lights throughout it so it resembled a brilliant Christmas fantasyland. We haven't used it that much because of the earlier, cool months. Actually we have clear side curtains on it so could have used it as a protective igloo but we didn't. It's purpose ended up being as a storage tent for our many chairs and tables, golf clubs, etc. Recently, I rearranged it so we could use it as a protective sun shade and/or big umbrella for the heavy rains. It still was a bit cluttered but able ... read more

Time to show Dave and Linda how much we enjoy and appreciate them. Remember Dave is the fine and talented man who came to our rescue with our hot water problem in the RV. That’s a really big deal because only until you’ve lingered endlessly in an RV repair shop and paid mega bucks for labor and parts…..you would not understand what his expert service truly meant to us. And remember “Behind every good man is a good woman”. That’s Linda. She is such a sweet & gentle soul who lights up any room (or RV site) when she enters. Her smile is contagious. She is a special lady. Besides us, Dave has successfully helped many other RVer’s in this park with many, various difficulties with their RV’s. Linda says he likes the challenge. Dave says ... read more

A Joyous and Happy Easter to all of you! Hope you like our chapeaus.....Lulu wore her old one....miffed. No bunny visit for her! Our days have been filled with with so much activity, it will become such a let down tomorrow when our last family heads home to New York. We will be like lost sheep. But with eye catching caps. Making the most of our time together, we piled into our car and sped over to Gatorland yesterday. I think this place is great IF you like ‘gators. There are thousands of them to see. There are several exciting shows with these scaled lizards which everyone enjoys. The other creatures on display are fascinating. Panthers are a new addition since we had been here last. If you have never visited this park, we highly recommend ... read more
