Saturday, here at Tropical Palms, they had an indoor yard sale in the Veranda Room. A good turnout for all. Lulu was irate I wouldn't take her but she thinks she can buy anything and everything she sees. Wrong! We went just look. Right! We came home from the sale with an outdoor canopy, a nice folding table and a small, wooden, artist posable figure. I gave that to Lulu to settle her down. She loved it! Doesn't take a lot to make her happy. Cory lined our lawn chairs in two rows so our yard looked like an auditorium. A few people came by and sat down. Lulu joined them. Has to be a part of the gang, you know. Cory did this because they traded our picnic table out to one that is much ... read more

A rainy day makes for a good catch-up day. It started to rain this afternoon...not hard but just enough where you want to keep a roof over your head. At night time, it makes for such a soothing, wonderful sound. Until, it becomes torrential. Then it sounds like a thousand monster sized woodpeckers pecking as hard as they can. Deafening! Okay, enough. Yes, we are still here and hope you are, too. I'm finding it tricky to "go here and there " and "do this" on the same day....the older I get, the slower I get. But sooner or later, we all get back on track. Come on....the train ? is pulling out. On Tuesday, we all (the fearless foursome) went to coffee in our park's lobby. World crises get solved here. We used to have ... read more

We settled down in our RV last night to watch the Golden Globe Awards. I see you all got your comfy seat to watch it with us. Lulu, of course, took the front row. Where are her manners? I'm calling Miss Manners to tutor her now! Furnace on cause it's still cold outside. Our relaxing moment was abruptly interrupted by many flashing police car lights close behind our RV. Something was going on behind us in one of the rental cottages. Cory got up to check it out. He said there were 8 police cars around one of the rental cottages. As he approached closer, a policeman asked who he was, where did he live, etc.? He answered the third degree questions. He was told this was an active crime scene and to go back to ... read more

Rain, Rain Go Away....The Fearless Foursome Want To Play. Saturday....and it rained in Paradise. When it rains here, I mean it REALLY rains! Torrential! During a momentary halt of this horrific monson, we jumped in our car and sped away to the Artegon Mall. Our goal: watch a movie. Decisions, Decisions. Two movies ended up in our best time frame....."Why Him?" and "Manchester By The Sea". Our daughter, Kim, had told us "Why Him" was really funny but not suited for my tender ears with all the bad language. Heads you win; Tails you loose. Heads! We entered the theater to see "Why Him!" I could hear Lulu's muffled cries in her carry bag.....Nooooooo. She can't cover her ears with no hands. I'll do it for you, sister. ??Don't worry....Be Happy.??? I like that song! This ... read more

Looks like you have figured out the routine and are following it okay. Up and going for coffee in the lobby at 9:00 AM. Someone drained the pot today....fess up if it were you. No punishment...just "NO Coffee For You!" ....took that from Seinfeld's Soup Nazi. What a great show that is! We watch all the reruns over and over and over. Sandy lines us up at the curb to start our walking trek for today. Up and down the roadways we go. "Just Keep On Walking....Just Keep On Walking". That came from Finding Nemo. Loved that movie...a lot! Half way through this mega stroll, Sandy discovered she didn't have her Fitbit on. Rats! No credit for her miles walked without it. Rats. As we (me)breath a sigh of relief once back at our RV, Sandy ... read more

(Wednesday) - No excuses....first thing to put on this morning are your walking boots. We are on a new regime. Life will no longer begin from the couch. The potato has been removed. Our motivator, Sandy, is prancing in place to get us moving. Onward we march. "Up, 2,3,4....Up, 2,3,4". Still not able to do the full, entire trek that Sandy does.....exhaustion, weakness and pain start to set in so I drop out on the last lap. Gotta work into this, you know. During this past year, I was satisfied just walking around the inside of our house....seemed like a hike going from our living room couch to the kitchen. It was a major journey when we walked up to our back field where our critter feeding station is located. Really liked our golf cart and ... read more

Getting nicely settled in. I bet you are glad about that even though your assistance was minimal. Lulu is ecstatic. She worked like a dog (best she could with her limitations). Cory arranged with a Detail Cleaning service (we use the same guy every year) to come here and wash & wax our RV and car. Each year when we get down here, we follow this same routine. No more New York dirt, salt and grit on our vehicles. The cloudy, grey colored mud huts are gone. They did a beautiful cleaning job. The vehicles just glisten and shine. You need to wear sunglasses to look at them. Now I have to get busy and clean the inside windows of these 2 units. Yuck. While they were working on our vehicles, Cory and I decided to ... read more

You had a day off, folks, so now it's time to catch up. Sunday, New Years Day, we were taking our time packing up.....you weren't in any rush either. I heard some whining. Our friend, Sandy, sent us a message stating our site was empty at Tropical Palms. Okay! Pick up the pace, gang.....lets get going. We leaving town, NOW! Off and running from the KOA campground at 10:10 AM. Settle back...we'll be there soon. 11:40 AM.....we are here at last! Back to our winter home. We have landed, dear friends! Hooray! We are at the Tropical Palms Resort and Campground. Not problems checking in. Smooth as a piece of pie....not like last year. Our friend, John, is the first to greet us as we wait to get registered. Gary was with him so it was ... read more

Geo: 28.2531, -81.3283The Kissimmee Lakes, just south of Orlando, are the headwaters of the vast Florida Everglades. We had a very interesting 90min excursion with "Spirit of the Swamp Airboat Rides" where we were fortunate to see lots of wildlife and learn about the lakes district. After lunch we drove around to get the lay of the land. Still looks like one big resort/theme park town.... read more

Geo: 28.3467, -81.4801My father always used to say that persistence pays off. And so it did. On 8/12/16, at 8:15 and 77 degrees we made our fourth attempt to see the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. In years past it was always hidden behind a thick curtain of fog and just driving safely through it to the other side was a challenge. This year it was sunny and clear and we saw it in all of its glory. The mountains, which do not rise above the tree line, are covered in a lush blanket of dark green trees. And the flatlands are teeming with wildlife. We saw a bear in a tree eating cherries and we saw deer grazing in fields of tall yellow grass. The drive took us through winding roads up and over hills ... read more
