It’s been one week since we left the bitter cold temperatures of New York. It all seems like a dream. One moment you’re all padded up with four layers of clothing and a few days later, you are stripped down to shorts, sandals and a T-shirt. Unreal and sometimes, it seems unfair. We should be able to share this warm weather back home when it gets go ghastly frigid. Wish we were like the big bad wolf in The Three Little Pigs....where we could huff and puff and blow that hot air north. Cory thinks I could almost do that ....sweetcakes! It was so cold when we headed out of town, we even left the water drizzling out of one of the bathroom sinks....just in case - to prevent any frozen pipes. It worked! Our daughter, ... read more

Morning Joe! Good to the very last drop. Every Tuesday morning, Tropical Palms host a coffee hour for us “long termer’s”. Everyone looks forward to this coffee clatch. This morning was our first opportunity to attend this year. All our friends, and new ones, too, have returned to Tropical Palms. The room was filled and bustling with excitement as everyone gathered. So wonderful to see all again. What a happy reunion. ???Hail, Hail, The Gang’s All Here!??? We have a new activities director who went over a few pertinent items followed by a Q& A. In years past, I have offered up a brief chat (well, brief for me.....you do already know how I can drone on) of “helpful hints”with this group. I call them Sandy’s Snippets. Martha Stewart I’m not! I google and research little ... read more

What a blessing. This is the life! Our dream-come-true! We are able to go to my favorite store with just a hop, skip and a jump. So easy! So wonderful. So this was our prime destination on our first full day here. ???Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da! What a wonderful day.??? Back home, it’s a good 40 minute drive in 2 directions before coming to this big box delight. Walmart wanted to come to Wellsville but a group of nay-sayers put the kibosh to that! Boo-Hiss. Such a disappointment because it would have really been such a benefit to our community and its residents. So we just take our money out of town and enjoy a day of shopping and dining outside of Wellsville. Too bad! Our winter residence gives us what we yearn for. A five minute drive and ... read more

Made it! Yep, we have finally made it here to Tropical Palms.....our winter retreat. Our goal accomplished. What a great feeling. The sun is shining and there is a touch of warmth to the air. Hallelujah! All in unison now: Hip-Hip-Hooray...Hip-Hip-Hooray.....What a Great Day! Thank you for being such good traveling companions. Even when we hit a few touchy situations, you stayed strong and positive. That has to be why we made it all this way with actually no major catastrophes - minus the death defying drive I had on I-95 yesterday. That was bad and even worse that all of you and Lulu were in the RV with Cory while I was alone and petrified in the car. No one could hear my panicked screams for help....no one. Feel sorry for me? I hope so. ... read more

When I informed people that I was going to Kissimmee FL for a high school class reunion, they naturally assumed that I went to high school there. However, I went to Dalat School in Dalat, Vietnam. As the Vietnam War heated up, in April 1965 the U.S. Embassy sent four USAF C-123s to move the school to Bangkok, Thailand. I was on furlough in Nyack NY at the time so missed the excitement. After a year there, the school moved to the Cameron Highlands and then to Penang, Malaysia where it remains today. My Dalat experiences are recounted in , , and . My subsequent 1973 visit to the school in Penang is recounted in and my 2009 visit to Dalat, Vietnam is recounted in , , and . So we can pretty much have our ... read more

Happy Easter to all our Family and Friends! Hope your day was a tad less exciting than ours....you have to read on to understand that comment. Before we move ahead. We need to back up just a little. Trying to go to all the favorite spots that the Knapp family likes from previous visits here. Thus, we went to Manny's Chophouse the other evening. Sam & Sandy joined us. One big happy group! We got a big table with no problems. Sometimes, we have had some issues with the newer Manny's recently built a short way down on I-192 from our park. But not this time....hooray....everything was delicious and we all enjoyed ourselves. We'll go back next year for sure. Prior to going to Manny's, Lory & Jay took the girls to Old Town to ride ... read more

They don't come any better than this fine, generous gentleman. Can you guess whom I am referring to? Good guess! Yes, this kind man is Sam....Sam Foreman. "Bud" to some - especially his lovely wife, Sandy. Our stay here at Tropical Palms is made so happy and festive because of our dear friends, Sam & Sandy. Our entire time at home, we talk fondly about them and all the good times we have shared. We wait anxiously to return to TP so we can be with them again. Our bucket list gets longer and longer as we find more exciting places to visit together. We can shoot a whole day and really not do anything but be together. Oh, the laughs we have had. Soon, our ways will part again. Mist will be in our eyes. ... read more

On the move again. Monday was relocation day for the Knapps. They moved from Royal Oaks over to our Marriott timeshare called Cypress Harbour. We bought it pre-construction years and years ago. It still remains in perfect condition. Of course, with the costly maintenance fee, it should. Before they could check in, we had lunch at Bar Harbor. As usual, it was delicious. The girls aren't fond of seafood so Cory made a stop at Burger King to get them their lunch. Different tastes for different people. Prior to lunch, we made a quick stop at Costco's. We are going to miss this convenience of "running across town" to go there once we get home. Our only Costco's is located in Rochester, NY (a good 1 1/2 hour away). Rats! Only other Costco in NY is ... read more

Busy times, Busy days. We are still keeping up a good pace with the Knapp's. Cory enjoyed a round of golf with Jay on Saturday (yesterday). Old Town was having their anniversary celebration in the evening (Saturday). We decided to join in this celebration. Our group marched up to Old Town in the late afternoon to enjoy pizza at Flippers Pizzeria. We sat on their deck and devoured a couple tasty Italian pies. Yum! Lulu did not join us....we walked...too hard for her to do (no legs). We started walking off our very filling pizzas by strolling down the main street of Old Town. We made it to the Southern Breeze Bar & Grill and decided we needed to get a table if we wanted to see and hear the special band that would be playing: ... read more

Our only visiting family showed up at our RV on Wednesday, April 5th @ 2:45 PM. So exciting to see them all and begin our time together. Right now, they are staying at Regal Oaks - a condo/ apartment resort located just before coming into Tropical Palms. We can walk back and forth. Their condo unit is waaaay down the roadway on one side of their complex so it is a pretty good hike. Lory said it only took her 3 minutes....me, a tad longer. On Monday, they will move over to our Marriott timeshare: Cypress Harbor. They will stay there one week and then head back home to Scio, NY (outside Wellsville where we live). We bought it pre-construction in 1991. We used to stay in it ourselves but once we got Chip (our beloved ... read more
